LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

LiquidHost - $15/Year 256MB OpenVZ VPS in Seattle

Alexander from LiquidHost is back with a few more offers. The first one is exclusive to LowEndBox and LowEndTalk readers. However the other ones, have been featured on WebHostingTalk.

256MB Yearly

  • 256MB RAM
  • 128MB vSwap Ram
  • 20GB Disk Space
  • 150GB Bandwidth
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM
  • 1 x IPv4
  • $15/Yearly – Order Link
  • Location: Seattle, Washington.
1536MB Monthly

Liquid Host has been in business for just over a year; the last time they were featured, they were celebrating their one year Anniversary. Their new Seattle nodes, use the Xeon E3 1270 CPU but their Lenoir nodes have 2x L5420 Xeon Quad Core CPU’s. Alexander, the owner, is very active on LowEndTalk and often posts new offers. Whilst many people only associate colocrossing with Buffallo, New York, Liquid Host’s Seattle servers are located with ColoCrossing in Seattle (West Coast). Meanwhile, their Lenoir servers are located with Dacentec in Lenoir, NC (East Coast). A further three offers can be seen below by clicking ‘more’.

512MB Yearly

1024MB Yearly

1536MB Yearly

Two of the three plans listed above were featured on their Anniversary offer. They had a few reviews on that post including this one, which were positive. Lenoir stock is very limited, however, they have plenty stock in Seattle, waiting to get filled. More IPv4 can be purchased with proper justification. The 4 vCPU cores come on RHEL6 nodes with vSwap enabled. Additional Operating Systems which are not present on their list can easily be added by opening a ticket and requesting it (must support OpenVZ).

IRC is allowed, as long as it is for legal purposes. SPAM, DDoS attacks and malware, are amongst items which are strictly prohibited from their network/nodes. As usual, you can check out their terms and find out what is allowed by reading their Terms of Service.

Can’t get in to my VPS with the password I set up. SolusVM and WHMCS running verrrry slow. Ticket submitted for password reset.

      • Tim:

You’d think SolusVM would be able to handle special characters in passwords but perhaps not. Ticket resolved in 25 minutes; everything is running faster now.

        October 30, 2012 @ 10:25 pm | Reply
        • Yeah, I’ve just started working on the tickets. And yeah, solusvm jsut bugs out on special characters. Let me know if you have any further concerns :)

FWIW, Solus has never been able to handle special characters. I really wish they would fix it.

          October 30, 2012 @ 11:42 pm | Reply
        • Solus just seems not to give a fuck about this. I’ve adressed this issue atleast 2 times now and I am absolutely sure others have done so as well. I am pretty sure they haven’t fixed a huge bug that I reported to them before the .13 release was out.

        • This is a long outstanding bug. I doubt they will fix it any time soon. it’s so annoying. Great offers by the way.

Can you start my server in half an hour from now? If not I’ll try another provider, I’m already searching some replacement to AlienVps anyway…

      • Have you opened a ticket about it? I can not assist anyone in here, without knowing some information.

All the VPS are setup instantly after fraud check si completed. It is absolutely clearly stated on the invoice, that they will be marked paid once the check is complete. :)

Do you offer IPv6 and rDNS for v4/v6?

    October 30, 2012 @ 10:34 pm | Reply
    • Hello, Seattle and Lenoir still do not have native ipv6 connectivity, we can set rdns on v4 of course.

  7. zippoxer:

The bandwidth is pretty low. Even if you only need 256MB RAM, you’ll have to buy the 1536MB plan for a sane bandwidth.

      At least in my case.

      October 30, 2012 @ 11:31 pm | Reply
      • Well it is balanced through the plans. It’s never been my target to sell high-bandwidth VPS. Maybe on the next offer ;)

So where do I find what OS options there are?

I’m at the pay for page but I’m unwilling to proceed until I see the OS options. I am guessing Archlinux would be asking too much. RH/CentOS is NOT an option. Debian or Ubuntu would be acceptable if Archlinux is not available.

  16. Damn! That was fast, ran out of IPs. Waiting for new once and deploying 2 more nodes in Seattle :)

    Lenoir still has IPs.

All of the Seattle VMs will be set in a couple of hours.

  17. Eric:

Could I get a quick clarification on the “IRC is allowed” note above please? From the TOS page linked there it says that it is allowed to be hosted for lawful purposes, but the TOS link from the order page (https://liquid-host.com/tos.html) mentions “IRC Scripts/Bots” are forbidden. Are servers allowed but not bots, or are one of the pages outdated?

  19. What about the disk IO of Lenoir node?

    November 2, 2012 @ 2:15 pm | Reply
    • Lenoir is running RAID10 confiuguration. The IO is above 120MB/s, which I find pretty reasonable.

      Hey Brad,

Sorry for the delay; it is actually in Lenoir, sometimes geo-location for IPs can be inaccurate causing such inaccuracies. That being said, the link you provided shows me Lenoir, NC. Looks all good. :)

  21. Signed up for the 512mb $20/Yearly plan earlier today, got a welcome email with an invalid login username and password.

Tried to reset the password through the “Forgot Password” link at the login page but got no email.

Opened a ticket (Ticket #403548) to request for help and got no response for 12hours.

Anyway I can get a refund or is it $20 down the drain?
