There are quite a few members of the dollar-a-month club, where you can get a VPS for a dollar a month.
However, most of those providers are actually offering a $12/year plan. Partly this is because of transaction costs, where PayPal or whoever is taking a flat charge plus a percentage. That flat charge wipes out profits unless it’s on a larger sales amount. Also, providers don’t want the hassle of dealing with people who join, create tickets, have issues, and then are gone a week later, leaving the provider with only 99 cents in sales.
But what if there was a company that really did charge 99 cents a month?
What if? Friend, there is!
HostVDS is offering the following for only 99 cents a month:
- 1 vcpu
- 1GB RAM
- 10GB NVMe
- 50mbps bandwidth
Service is in Dallas, Amsterdam, Bangalore, and Hong Kong, though there’s some talking in the thread about stock levels in different DCs, and also some DCs that are coming, so definitely keep an eye on the discussion.
So is this a good provider? Is this a sustainable deal? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
