Stuart, MD of OnePoundWebHosting, sent me some special discount for the LowEndBox readers a few days before my break. However as the offer is still valid I think it’s not too late to post it. They are offering 30% off recurring discount on their Xen PV or Xen HVM VPS hosting plans when you use coupon code LOWEND30, valid until 19 January 2012. Their cheapest plan “PV-128” would be £6.30/Quarter (~USD$3.27/month) after the discount. Direct sign up link here.
- 128MB memory/128MB swap
- 10GB storage
- 250GB/month data transfer
- 4x vCPU cores
- Xen/SolusVM
Corresponding WHT offer here (different code, same discount). They have servers with ServerHouse in UK (test IP: 195.49.147.100). OnePoundWebHosting is a registered UK company since 2006 (company number: 05886975). IRC is explicitly forbidden in ToS. Sounds like a strong team — but it could still be a one man show, like how this review almost 5 years ago has described.

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
Odd. Site failed for me at home but when I use one of my VPN’s it works fine.
Hi,
That is very strange, we are not aware of any connectivity issues. Does the website still not resolve for you on your home address?
Routing issues all over europe this moment – most likely.

Possible to upgrade bandwidth? if so, what are the costs for which ?
Hi,
This has been answered for you in your pre-sales enquiry but for the benefit of others here:
**
Whilst we believe our bandwidth allowances are more than adequate for most clients uses, extra bandwidth is available at the following pricing structure:
10p per gb
£2.50 per 50gb
£5.00 per 150gb
****
Hey thanks for that champ. 🙂
can you enable tun/tap on this and can it be used to install openvpn.?
Hi,
HVM xen plans use tun/tap as default.
Both PV and HVM VPS will show eth0 when installed and will act as a normal nic.
Many clients run openvpn on their VPS, so this is not a problem.
Can you do a custom quote for me. 64 mb ram , 25 gb/month bandwidth. Yearly payment. ?
Hi,
Happy to provide a custom quote. Please contact us via our website so we can quote exactly to your needs.
Quick thrown together website, low quality, high prices, DirectAdmin probably because it’s cheaper…
