I checked and the last time we posted an offer where service was provisioned in Albania was way back in 2016. We were contacted recently by AVS ISP. They’re a new company that just started operations in January.
What’s they’re story? A rather interesting one! They’re an American husband and Albanian wife. Let’s get the full scoop:
AVS ISP was started up to solve a simple and yet aggravating problem. There are VPS providers all around the world, but not many in Albania, or the Balkans in general, really. And the few that do exist are extremely expensive and do not actually host their servers inside of Albania. Let’s take an unnamed Albanian host that has been featured here before. If you check their website, you’ll notice that it says “Albania GEO IP”. Upon further inspection, you’ll find that they’re actually hosting in Hetzner Datacenters, Germany. We wanted to be a little different than this. So we actually setup physical servers in Albania. Not somewhere else with Geofeed location hacks to show Albania. Physically inside of the capital itself – located inside of RASH datacenter in Tirana.
Another thing we noticed was the lack of BGP supporting VPS providers in the Balkans. You have plenty in Germany and the UK, a few in the USA, but the Balkans is lacking any type of BGP supporting providers. As a BGP enthusiast myself, I wanted to solve this as well. That’s why all our VPS servers come with FREE BGP SESSIONS. Just send in a ticket and we’ll setup a session with you. Free of charge. Don’t have your own ASN? We can still announce your owned or leased IPs under our ASN. Simply send a ticket and we can help you setup a BGP session with a Private ASN and we’ll forward the announcement upstream (it’ll show under our ASN publicly).
And finally, another thing that made us get into this. These sheer volume of oversold hostnodes out there. It’s not okay for us when a host oversells their hard drive space, ram, and CPU – leading to an over-bogged-down hostnode. It slows down the client VMs and is a problem waiting to happen. Oversold hard drives lead to the day coming when someone uses all of their allocated space and you have to move VMs around. Oversold RAM leads to hostnode swapping in the background (VMs themselves don’t see it, they see RAM as available) and slowing down the VM clients who are unknowingly using SWAP and not RAM to run their VMs. And oversold CPUs lead to the process being overloaded and VMs becoming unreasonably slow to reply. An example I’ve recently had was an Unnamed Host who’s VMs I was testing took 2 full minutes just to load the terminal after signing in over SSH. Completely unacceptable. That’s why – we promise – all resources are FULLY DEDICATED. Never to be oversold. We don’t have policies like “don’t use more than 50% of the allocated resources” because we don’t need them. And you’ll never have to worry about your VM being moved to a different node because it was slow and unresponsive. What you pay for, you get, no overselling – ever.
About Our Team
We are a Husband and Wife team. An American Husband and Albanian Wife. The wife handles the business side of things, and the husband everything technical. We are also looking to bring in family and friends to help with support tickets, issues, etc. We made be a small team, but we think we can make a difference and grow over time. The best thing about us being a smaller team? You can deal with us directly. No huge corporate polices. If you have an issue, you can tell us, and we can try to accommodate as long as it doesn’t effect other users. Not satisfied with something? We can help. Having trouble paying on-time and need a few more days? We can give extensions. Need a custom plan? Let us know and we can set it up. Non-standard setup with custom ISO and specs? No problems. These are things big companies can’t or aren’t willing to do usually.
We have to give the usual caution that this is a new provider, but at these prices, you’re not risking much. We don’t see the Balkans offered as a geography very often, so if you’re interested, why not give AVS ISP a try? Be sure to come back and let us know in the comments below how it goes!
Learn more on their web site, and while you’re there, check out their Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Copyright Policy. You can also check out their Uptime Robot. They accept debit/credit cards, and other methods (bank transfer, EURO SEPA, UK FASTRANSFERS, or PayPal can be accommodated if you ticket in). Questions? Ping @avsisp on LowEndTalk.

NOTES
- If you would like a custom OS (other than Ubuntu or Debian), simply order as normal and then submit a ticket. We will gladly install any OS of your choice. If asking for Windows, please note: we do not provide Windows Licenses. We can do the install – but you’ll be responsible for your own activation.
- All servers include free BGP support, simply submit a ticket and we will be happy to setup A BGP session with you. If you need help setting up your side, we can help also. Feel free to reach-out.
- We do not charge for traffic. Why? Because that isn’t how us or any other provider pays for bandwidth. We pay based on pipe size, not how much traffic crosses that link. Instead – we choose to sell it to you how we buy it. Ports are 100Mb/s instead of implementing bandwidth limits. That means you can send and receive as much traffic as you want up to 100Mb/s. Some providers will give you a 1Gb/s port but give you a traffic limit, which makes it impossible to actually use more than 100Mb/s (or even less) without going over. We prefer a simpler approach – which we feel is more transparent to clients – sell a normal sized port and don’t track or charge for bandwidth at all.
