According to SANS, the first Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack was in 1999, more than 20 years ago. Since then, DDOS attacks have become bigger and more frequent. Today, a DDOS mitigation strategy is an essential part of any high-profile site’s hosting strategy. These attacks often occur frequently in the gaming community and with any site hosting anything remotely controversial.
