Due to great response from the 6 pound/year VPS offer last week, Ben from RackVM is now extending their French VPS offer at OVH for another month for the LowEndBox readers (until end of August). For £3/month (~USD$4.71) you can get the following OpenVZ VPS package (when this ordering link is used).
- 512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory
- 30GB storage
- 300GB/month data transfer
- 4GHz CPU
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
From the tune of Ben’s email, I guess I can conclude that those are loss leader plans and they are on the stage of growth, which the customer base will hopefully bring in healthy cashflow and profit in the future when more products are introduced. We’ll see, and all the best!

I have one of those from the previous promotion and must say I’m impressed. Very good value for money, very responsive support. Pity they don’t do the same offer for their UK nodes (or don’t have a second server in FR) as I certainly would get another one for the backup purposes.
I have order it~
note that your not allowed to use irc CLIENTS (or servers/bnc) on the VPS from rackVM
Hi
Limited placements for UK with this offer also :)
https://secure.rackvm.com/cart.php?a=add&pid=76
Signed up and it’s working fine.
Looks like RackVM is going to be the best LEB provider this year. ;)
I have 5 VPS’ with them, so far, so good. In fact, I just submitted a ticket, and got a response 5 minutes after.
Note: These VPS’ are distributed over a couple nodes, nothing is on them.
The fifth VPS is having a couple issues, but nothing major. Still working with Ben to resolve it :)
Overall, good service & fairly quick support! Don’t pass it up.

Quick test :)
@Ben looking forward to any XEN vps offers (preferably yearly) from you
@Asmin Please contact sales via our site and i’m sure we can work something out for you. :)
I’d love to see some Xen offers too. I have a 6 pound/year VPS from last offer and its great so far. But I prefer Xen to OpenVZ any day.
No 32bit OS templates? I’d be all over this if there was a 32-bit Debian 5 option…
Hi
I have contacted SolusVM regarding 32bit support, we were told a while ago that there was no support because of the different kernels which in turn caused problems with updates and package installation.
so no 32bit OSes in any way?
@Ben – Great offer Ben, I might order one by mid August. Keep up the good service bro.
Ben, I belive the SolusVM manager won’t run on a 32-bit system, but it appears to be very much possible to create VMs with 32-bit OSes, and templates are available for the same.
@Mike
That seem to make more sense, since all the other providers is able to offer both 32/64 bit versions of the OS template under SolusVM.
Since 32bit generally means lower memory usage, all other things being equal, you’d think it’d be the de-facto standard for low-end VPSes…
I am running several IRC-BNCs on my RackVM VPS, its not forbidden in their TOS -> Forbidden are IRC-Servers and IRC-Bots, not IRC-BNC’s :P
@Mike
Yup!.. and since Kloxo does not support a 64 bit OS. would be nice to have a 32 bit template so I use a free CP. Hope Ben will fix this soon..
Hi
I shall spend the course of tonight seeing if everything is full proof and works properly. I don’t want to give a firm yes at the moment and then there be problems later on down the line but will certainly spend tonight having a good investigation for everyone.
Hopefully he’ll fix the DNS issues, as well.
For peeps thinks that OpenVZ (any container based tech) will save you some memory usage in 32bit may want to scroll down and read #7 – http://virt.kernelnewbies.org/TechComparison.
Hi
I’ve just had a good look and I stand corrected the arch issue must of been in earlyer releases of SolusVM around May time.
I am just syncing all of the i386 templates across all nodes and have added some new releases also. These are Fedora 13 Arch Linux 2010 i386 templates CentOS 5.5, Debian 5, Ubuntu 10.04, Fedora 12/13
The above has been carried out on the OpenVZ servers and will focus on Xen shortly.
Also I shall pop the i386 OS options in the order forms at some point during the night :)
Excellent news on the 32 bit templates.
@Mr. Ben
Thank you for the support.
I have another Cpanel DNS Cluster Only in the UK now. :)
It’s my 3rd VPS from RackVM
Wow, finally some 32 bit OS UK8!
Thanks for that.
I’d think 32bit templates would be standard with a budget VPS host.
Good luck with your future business though.
Jack xD
I got a RackVM VPS last time they were offered. I have one of the 128mb guaranteed / 256mb burstable ones and it’s working a treat!
Excellent VPS. Thanks
Got a vm from them with the last offer posted here and it worked so well i upgraded and plan on upgrading or buying more in the near future. I may not have that much experience with vm hosting but this one exceeded my expectations in terms of performance and support.
@Florian
Both in the support ticket i sent after reading
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=966030&highlight=rackvm+irc
and in the thread they say its NOT allowed
I bought this offer the day it came out. At first the vps was very fast and reliable but since a week or so the vps is unusable, httpd response over 30 secs, sshd login over 20 secs, cpu’s spende over 90% of the time in waiting due to poor I/O.
