There has been like 4 or 5 Xen offers in the past 30 days or so on LEB. Although I am sure that OpenVZ hosters are most common here, there has to be a few Xen offers that have been emailed to you lately. Nothing against OpenVZ hosters and users, as we all have our preferences in life ;)

    • Obviously… was just curious; we’ve got a whole pile of people on a 12-core Opteron that rarely ever breaks over 0.50 load, was just wondering handicap the CPU so much when it’s one of the most plentiful resources.

When we typically have yearly plans that are not just better, that are massively better AND cheaper. Not to mention that there’s BuyVM. http://www.lowendbox.com/?s=%2Fyear&searchsubmit=Find
And this particular provider also seems to have bad reputation too.

    February 29, 2012 @ 4:06 am | Reply
    • RaidLogic has stock. BuyVM will have “check back this weekend” for the rest of the year.

(Reminds me of when Eric Cartman started “Cartman Land” with the idea of promoting it as being the best amusement park in the world but nobody is allowed in. Seems like the marketing strategy of BuyVM)

Yea Fransisco, Stock and Buyvm is a joke. Not only one can get a service under you or can refer to their clients. More than working on to add stock, do something to make your staff less stupid and more polite. Your so called fraud checks and intense bullshit over monitoring all makes many potential clients puke.

        • The problems with LEB is that it lets people like Fran make negative comments about technology that they could not make work and make other new comers look bad without followups on the derogatory comments.
I think it’s a soft cock space that gets dominated by old hands that don’t really know much about much.

        • And which technology is that?

If you say vswap there’s 10’s of threads of countless hosts having issues with it, not just us :P

So what is your problem? It’s just an offer you can decide wheter you want to buy it or not. With your logic you don’t need to visit LEB, you just need to visit BuyVM and pray that they have stock. :D

My problem is seeing LEB go to crapper with such junk posted on the front page
        250 Mhz, 64 MB RAM, $24???????? That isn’t even worth $5/year.
Again, see the yearly offers from other providers and go figure the average (expected) price to resources ratio.
This one is way into the bizzaro land, or just something you’d typically see in 2004.

        February 29, 2012 @ 10:12 am | Reply
        • @rm: Your problem is you have 164 comments on this blog, and a lot of them are just whinging and complaining. Here you’re complaining there’s “not enough” and in this discussion ( http://www.lowendbox.com/blog/securedragon-18year-128mb-openvz-vps-in-jacksonville/#comment-46926 ) you’re complaining there’s too much. Incredible.

For some people owning a LEB isn’t about getting the most they can under $7. For some individuals it’s the challenge of running what they can on as little resources as possible. You can call them hobbyists. There is no reason that we have to post the most ram/hdd/cpu for the $, as these plans will appeal to some people.

If you don’t like it, don’t comment, simple.

So Joel aka Chief you’re history digger now? And this personal attack.. Like your personal history of complainings would be flawless. Linked content from rm you used have nothing to do with complaining. He made a debate and you really didn’t need to bring it here to prove anything.
I agree with your second LEB paragraph though.

Excuse me where exactly? That’s quite reasonable discussion on IPv6 assigment sizes. And certainly I wasn’t asking them to assign less IPv6 than they already did.

          @Chief
you have done nothing particularly good for this blog yet.
You can earn a good reputation by being reasonable and showing experience and making quality posts. Or you can earn a bad one by getting into personal attacks at people who “complain too much” instead of taking valid criticisms.
          The choice is yours.

        • @rm: The offer may not suit your personal wishlist, however it will suit others as indicated by those who have purchased. Your consistent critical comments are not in any way “valid criticism.” In fact they’re completely counter-productive and even reputable hosts are taking notice: http://i43.tinypic.com/168hr1g.jpg

        • There’s more to it than “X CPU cores, Y MB of RAM, Z GB of storage” when it comes to VPSes. Different hosts vary in their support, uptime, and value-added services. Some hosts will help you out with little things, some won’t. Some have 24 hour support, some don’t. Those that do will probably charge a little more for it. Some hosts, you can get another VPS with them at any time if you need to expand; others, you might have to wait until they get stock.

My point is, with a $15/yr 128MB VPS and a $24/yr 64MB VPS, you may have two wildly different experiences, and may even prefer the $24 one.

So what do you suggest @rm? Not to post offers at all because there out exist possibly better offers? It’s your choice, you’re about to decide what you want and what you don’t want however this choice wouldn’t exist if there wouldn’t be various offers. It’s just lowenedbox as such. No need to be upset because something does not suit you.
What aboout to put 3 or 4 “best offers” at frontpage and then lock LEB? Would this make all moaners more happy? When someone would decide what’s best for you?
It’s just offer. One from many. Is it good, is it bad? I don’t know – numbers tell me nothing about stability, long term plans, etc… And no, you wouldn’t typically see something like that in 2004. It’s just big exaggeration to prove your point. First such hosts mostly appeared approximatly 4 years ago. I still have some – as they are so damn stable and serve to my purpose better than many newer hosts with great resources for small money.
Are RaidLogic good? Bad? I don’t know, but this here is just offer, one from many… It’s nothing to be upset about.

Not to post laughably ridiculous offers from shady providers. Wasn’t someone posting something about aiming for quality, not quantity.

        • Spirit:

Yes but filtering offers regarding offered resources would be the last possible thing on this filtering list. Be reasonable. We really don’t need someone to decide for us if offer is suitable or not. You’re the guy which decide if you want to be hosted here – if you understand me. It was like that whole time at LEB. This is not comunity to play on hosting elitism card. But about to get something good out of all those offers.

          @Spirit
OK I see your point, but also I don’t think the whole “don’t like it don’t post” thing is justified. Subpar offers should be called out as such. I hate to see newbies go their first time on LEB and order the very first thing they see, because “wow that’s so much cheaper than Linode”. I can agree though, that exaggerating the sentiment (aka saying “WTF is this crap” instead of “not very impressive” :p) may not be always justified, but with this particular provider also being squarely called out as scam in the adjancent thread I saw no reason to try and hold back.

@rm This is our first time! being listed here, not sure what your referring to?

Should anyone else have questions feel free to email us at sales@raidlogic.net

These packages are for websites running on low-end servers, and the goal is really to show that you do not have to run a good-looking website with super-fast servers, a tiny one will do just fine!

    Thanks

  19. Hello,

@John – Yes you are correct we bought TheServerExperts it was one of the worst decision we took, the state we found the company was not pretty in the end only a few clients were migrated from what were left, we ended up using their website and logo. I find their website design to be unique and easy to browse. After we gained control of the domain we posted news which till today can be viewed.

We also bought an other company but that transfer went very smooth.

    Thank you,

I would gladly pay $5 per year for this 64 mb offer, to use as a third dns and also a proxy server.

But $2 per month is too much.

With 64 megs it won’t be able to perform effectively as a backup mail/dns server, especially with no burst.

If you can kick that up to 256 ram, burstable to 384, I’ll buy a slot for $24 per year.

That would fit webmin, backup mail and backup dns with clamspam.

You first ask them to upgrade this package, they did it for FREE! Then you are still not satisfied with the package and want a further upgrade for the same price? Are you kidding?

          No, I am not kidding.

In fact I already have a similar package from another provider, a well-known VPS provider in Germany.

The stats on the box are 256/512, 5 gigs, 2 ipv4 and unmetered 10mbps transfer for $6/quarter.

Makes an excellent backup DNS and backup mail server as well as an ssl host for important backups.

Of course the main VPS (1g/1.5g ram, 40g hd, 500g bw, 1 ipv4 $5.99/month) is reliable enough that the failover server rarely gets used.

The prices of RaidLogic are literally twice the market rate.

        • So, according to you everybody must have the same pricing… ¬_¬

          Network resources are a commodity.

The company which wishes to compete will follow the market and price their service-as-a-product accordingly.

It surprises me reading some comments up here…. everyone is looking to buy the cheaper they can without giving any value to anything else
