LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

RootNerds - €2/Month 256MB OpenVZ VPS in Frankfurt, Germany

German, from RootNerds, informs us that they have recently moved into a new office. To celebrate, they have sent in this offer for LowEndBox readers.

DecaVPS

  • 256MB RAM
  • 128MB Burst
  • 2 vCPU Cores
  • 10GB RAID 10 Diskspace
  • 1TB Bandwidth (Fair use)
  • 100Mbps Port
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM
  • 1 IPv4 Address
  • 15 IPv6 Addresses
  • Coupon: LowEndApril13
  • €2.00/Month | Order Link

RootNerds have been featured on LowEndBox twice before. RootNerds last offer was basically for the same plan but for €5.30/month. This time the price is inclusive of Tax. The ‘fair use’ bandwidth is realistically up to 1 TB. If you usually use 500GB bandwidth but one month you use 1.5 TB, that’s fine. RootNerds are based in Bamberg and are a registered UG company (Unternehmergesellschaft). Unfortunately no reviews were left on their last post, so it would be great if any current customers could leave a review below.

RootNerds accept payments through PayPal but on request, they will try to offer other payment methods. As for refunds, first-time customers can get a refund if they submit a ticket within 7 days. Additional IPv4 addresses can be purchased for 1€ each and additional IPv6 are free. For more information, take a look at their Terms of Service and Acceptable Usage Policy.

Can you use the VPS as a proxy for browsing? What about using bittorrent? Are any ports blocked? In short, are any protocols/uses limited (except for unlawful ones)?

This company is paranoid and thief. Me and my roommate got this plan for 2€ and paid with my roommates PayPal account. Of course we created 2 different customer accounts because we wanted separate control panels etc. My roommate decided to cancel because of many host restrictions, including VPN setup, and got a refund. Me however, canceled and told that there will be no refunds or service because my actions were fraud ? When I asked why, they told me that I am not a real person and created 2 different accounts. :) :) I don’t care about 2€’s but, see you on PayPal disputes.

    • Hello,

we are not restricting anything, as we explained in detail in our ticket.
The purchases were made from the same paypal account on the same address. Just the name was different. After providing proof of identity, the money was instantly refunded as written in our ToS. We’re sorry for the misunderstanding here.

I may be in need of more than 15 ipv6 addresses, about 64k.

    For legal stuff of course.

    Would that be possible?

    • Hey,
      64.000 IP-Adresses won’t be possible with a VPS…

thanks for the info, I figured that out also, I was not planning on using them all at once, but actually have some kind of pool, anyway, I was in need of like much less than that, but more than 15, but well, after thinking it over, I think I’m asking too much for 2 euro’s/month :)

    Rootnerds is terrible
    1) They can loss all your data *
    2) There is no support **
    3) They continue to work after a huge fail like nothing happend — no apologies and don’t even think about refunds!

    * It’s OK by their TOS, but i used different services for my website over 10 years and this is a first time, when my data has been lost.
** Rootnerds support is terrible. I can assume that it doesn’t exist at all. Created bunch of tickets since January 20, got back only automated replies. Sounds like there is no support at all and all my tickets goes to nowhere.

    TLDR:
    – never use RootNerds if you ever need a support.
    – never use RootNerds if you cant manage your own backups.

      I can confirm this.

My VPS has been down for more than 24 hours.

Support tickets don’t get picked up, ever.

Oversold like crazy, 90% of the time servers are slow as hell.

      Don’t bother with RootNerds.

  26. Dreadful. Support was just not provided at all over the xmas – new year period, and the VPS was just slooow. I was promised a refund, but it never arrived and any emails were ignored.I eventually got a refund via paypal once I forwarded the email stating they would refund me, Oh yes, when I complained theey advised me not to reapply to get hosting with them again. No worries there then. Avoid.
