ShoveHostMichael from ShoveHost has sent in an offer recently. This offer features a non-oversold OpenVZ VPS in San Diego and is exclusive to LowEndBox.

  • Coupon code: LEB600EconomyVPS9-30-2013
  • $6/month | Order link

This is ShoveHost’s second time on LowEndBox. Even though he’s had kind of a bumpy start, Michael has found a way to establish a solid basis for a company. He is registered as a sole proprietorship in the state of California. ShoveHost operates out of the American Internet Services “Lightwave” Datacenter Facility in San Diego, California, USA.

ShoveHost accepts PayPal as well as credit cards through Stripe. They have been in business since 2011 and have been offering web hosting since 2012. Their terms of service can be found here: https://www.shovehost.com/termsofservice.php. ShoveHost does generally not offer refunds, but all tickets to their billing department requesting a refund will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

I’d say, give ShoveHost a try, but not without checking the connectivity first ;-)

    • Just because it’s OpenVZ, doesn’t mean that it’s oversold rubbish on lousy servers. We use blazing fast Xeon E3 servers, Hardware RAID10 with battery backup, and carefully monitor every VPS node to keep abusers off of our servers.

Haha, OpenVZ was developed especially for overselling.

Somehow I doubt that… sure, giving containers more resources than are physically available was probably an important feature. But I doubt it was designed for what it is being used for now.

Anyway, I personally think this is a good offer and the no overselling makes islet more unique compared to other OpenVZ offers.

My main problem with OpenVZ is not overselling (which is a problem) but abusers. AFAIK with OpenVZ there is no way to limit the CPU a user is consuming, which means if I start compiling something in my OVZ VPS, I will be hurting other people’s performance. Am I right?

Yea, if someone wants Oversold, not much their criteria :)

Non-Oversold OR Oversold OpenVZ for a choice from will be more correct :)

What does CC mean? I often see this used here. Thanks.

    • Maarten Kossen:

CC is used here for ColoCrossing, the company that owns and hosts this site and lowendtalk.com.

  9. I bought one of these a few days ago to help support another friendly provider. Using it to test some mail server setups and what not. So far solid VPS and haven’t seen any sign of abuse from noisy neighbors. Great offer, if you haven’t tried ShoveHost, give him a chance.

  10. Wow, this listing has been quite popular!
We currently have 0 IPv4 addresses left – I’ve contacted the datacenter to get some more but please be aware that any orders placed after now will show as Pending until we get more IPs.
Your patience is appreciated and thank you for your business!
