LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

SSD VPS – $5/month 1GB and $7/month 2GB OpenVZ VPS in Buffalo, and Los Angeles

SSD VPSJared, from SSD VPS, comes back with a previous offer, that has been slightly updated to provide you with an additional IPv4! SSD VPS have been featured many times before. These virtual machines run on 100% SSD drives, no HDD’s in the equation. The virtual machines are housed in a server that is using the Intel Xeon E3-1240v2 Quad Core CPU, 4x 480 GB Intel 520 Series SSD and a LSI 9260-4i with BBU for hardware RAID 10. Reviews from previous listings have been very mixed, with both positive (mainly to do with benchmarks) and negative comments (mainly to do with support). If you have a comment, or think that they have proved to be better lately, please leave a comment below.

Payments are accepted using PayPal, including credit cards (processed through PayPal). They entertain a 72 hour money back/refund guarantee. With SSD VPS, you get a free backup system, that runs every week, and the backup is saved for two weeks. But that certainly doesn’t eliminate the need of taking backups on your own as well! Gaming servers as well as legal adult content is allowed, however – they run a zero tolerance policy in regards to spam mail. I always suggest that you familiarize your self with the provider’s Terms of Service document, that way you do not get surprised down the road.

Only US locations for this offer, no Canada, must be fixed.

Here’s a benchmark from my VPS in Toronto:

    CPU model : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5645 @ 2.40GHz
    Number of cores : 2
    CPU frequency : 1200.500 MHz
Total amount of ram : 1024 MB
Total amount of swap : 1024 MB
    System uptime : 27 days, 14:17,
    Download speed from CacheFly: 46.7MB/s
Download speed from Coloat, Atlanta GA: 9.00MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Dallas, TX: 14.6MB/s
Download speed from Linode, Tokyo, JP: 4.49MB/s
Download speed from i3d.net, Rotterdam, NL: 6.37MB/s
Download speed from Leaseweb, Haarlem, NL: 31.6MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Singapore: 3.42MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Seattle, WA: 8.53MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, San Jose, CA: 12.9MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Washington, DC: 13.4MB/s
    I/O speed : 139 MB/s

If you notice, the I/O speed is not that great (especially for SSD). I get the same I/O speed from a ordinary hard drive. Besides that, uptime has been pretty good. They came under a DDoS attack a couple months ago now but that was it.

  4. I don’t know why but it’s so stupid that every time I access the LEB website I was subjected to a browser DDOS check by cloudflare. Is there something wrong?

Yes, the site is being DDoS’ed regularly and that check is to make sure you’re a real browser.

I had a long list of issues with this host, mainly when they blocked my account and my config files inside the VPS container was modified. I since went dedicated due to mistrust in VPS sellers

  11. Wow:

Laughably incompetent support. Provisioned a couple of VPS, system clock is wrong on them. Can’t run NTP or set the time myself, of course, since it’s OpenVZ.

One VPS clock gets fixed in only 3-4 emails, after they change my timezone, the other they change my timezone and then tell me the problem is out of scope and I should “google around” to get it fixed.

These douchebags just terminated (deleted all data) our server with 6 IP’s hostring 6 different websites, after the invoice had been unpaid for 4 days, while according to their TOS they cannot delete ut until after 10 days. The reason for the invoice not being paid was that we hadn’t even gotten any emails about the invoice being due.

On top of this, they just canceled our other server hosting 3 websites, which invoice was due 6/6.

So these people obviously don’t give a fuck. Stay away from them please, and if you’re already using their services, I recommend a quick backup and then a migration.

  13. Oscar:

Oh, and all of this happened after one month of having them manually start the server back up a few times per week, after it being down and unable to get it back up using the client backend.

  14. Do not order from SSDVPS.com, their support sucks and they don’t know english.
They migrated my server from Canada to USA without notification, they no longer have Canada location.
They did not give me a choice if I want it to be in USA, NY or USA, CA and when I asked where they migrated it they just replied they migrated it to mtl1.ssdvps.com node.

I asked 4 times where is mtl1.ssdvps.com located, which is the data centre and what is the speed and they either don’t understand english or they hide this information.
They ignore my question and keep answering the same sentence like a stubborn kid: “we migrated it to mtl1.ssdvps.com” they advised me to check where the server is located by visiting iplocation.net…

It’s by far one of the most amateur hosts I’ve encountered. Stay away or if you need support some day you will be lost.
