I have a monthly 4gb plan from their previous offering. The performance is good. I had an issue and the response was within 2 hours. For some reason I can’t login with an ssh certificate, but that is almost certainly not their fault.

Thought i’d just write a quick post for anyone considering the SSD Nodes Large deal (while i wait for Centmin to install!)..
Looking at the specs and the price I had to buy one. It’s double the CPU and 4 times the RAM of my current VPS for the same price (although 1 less IPv4 Address.. but then again i’ve never used my second one!).
Latency is a little higher than my existing VPS (given it’s in Dallas vs LA) but we’re talking milliseconds that will make no difference after CDN setup. Network seems to run pretty decent and the box seems pretty quick. Signup by Paypal took me about 2 minutes and VPS setup 1 minute. 1 minute to reinstall OS after I decided against really installing Ubuntu and going back to CentOS. OS selection is quite limited but that doesn’t worry me as I really only use Centos.

If anyone needs me to run any tests let me know and i’ll be happy to do so.

Hi everyone. I’m Matt, the founder of SSD Nodes. We’ve been in business for 5 years (our first LEB offer was in 2011), and our mission is to provide amazing customer service with a high quality hosting experience. With that said, in full transparency the reason we’re able to offer these servers at such discounted rates is due to most of the support costs being removed (you’re just paying for the hosting and the support is best effort). Of course we’re still available for urgent issues, we just won’t be able to help with application-specific issues (but can still provide guidance).

I’m here if you have any questions, or you can email me matt@ssdnodes.com

You can read some reviews from our last post: https://lowendbox.com/blog/ssdnodes-ssd-openvz-vps-starting-at-2-99month-dallas-tx/

MikeN: “I’ve been using these guys for a month on a 4GB plan and it’s been good. No shenanigans.”

Amir Softic: “I just wanted to write about experience with ssdnodes, I purchased LEB large about week ago and have been testing and just moved remote desktop support application to production. I’m extremely happy with ssdnodes coming from DigitalOcean, VPS is extremely fast and reliable, I tested upload speeds and it clocked about 800 Mbps down and 300 up… pretty fast if you ask me.

Matt has been amazing to work with and although we had some issues with the application he was there to assist and on my request added new image in the image selection area… I bought whole year right away and if it stays like this I’ll be @ ssdnodes for a while.”

Devin S: “I’ve purchased the LEB Large plan. Its been 3 weeks and i’ve been very satisfied with the performance im getting out of the VPS. Great Value! Thanks Guys!”

Ethan K: “I got an LEB Small box, and I have to say that I’m quite pleased. Box is snappy and connection is fantastic. No hiccups yet.

    Speedtest: http://www.speedtest.net/result/5243196500.png

WILLIAM: “I’m about to purchase my second SSD Nodes VPS. This is largely due to the performance, scalability and data center location for my existing VPS. It also doesn’t hurt that Matt seems “aight”. lol”

Maxton: “I’ve had the LEB Extra Large server (8GB, seamlessly upgraded from the LEB Large 4GB) for about one month now and I’m very impressed. I think I’m getting much more than my money’s worth out of this server. Performance is great, support has been fine, and I haven’t had any connectivity issues so far.”

Georgi: “I purchased LowEndBox Large packet and have to say that I’m very satisfied with the service. And also Matt is very friendly and always ready to help.”

Filip: “perfect service, we run on them (LEB instance) 2 servers for non-company services and must say… work perfectly. no downtimes, cheap price, works almost without any human (if you know how to properly setup server).”

      June 29, 2016 @ 5:57 pm | Reply
    • Matt Connor:

Nope, unfortunately, since these are already containers (OpenVZ) and use a thin virtualization layer instead of a fully virtualized environment. This means we get major performance gains, along with the flexibility of live upgrades.

    Thanks

    • Matt Connor:

Hey there, we don’t have a way to sub-divide your server into multiple servers. Instead the best way would be to order multiple servers (for redundancy and failover as well)

Depends on if there’s demand for this, as managed services can get pricey very quickly (we’ve gotten the costs discounted on these since we’re taking out most of the support costs).

ssdnodes is a little heavy on the “welcome wagon” though. Seriously, I don’t need 10 email messages from y’all pointing out how I can reinstall one of four linuxes, and that you’re happy I’m here. ONE message with critical howto info, ONE with accounting, and ONE “welcome wagon” would be plenty. ;-)

It does not beget of great technical knowledge when you are not able to maintain a proper fraud detection system which flags for no real reason.

We don’t have a private network in our non-Enterprise plans, but you can use iptables to lock down both servers to each other for a pseudo private network. Even using a VPN between them.

No ISOs unfortunately, since this is OpenVZ.

I had SSDNodes for 11 days and I’m not leaving because I’m dissatisfied with the service. I want to make that clear up front and anyone who has issues with SSDNodes needs to reach out to Matt Connor. He worked with me to help me try and find a solution to meet the demanding needs of the application I’ve built for my client. But after 10 days, 3 days passed the refund period I cancelled my nodes and Matt still offered me a refund.

Matt and his team are professional, courteous, and polite. I’ve spoke to Matt and 3 different employee’s via tickets and email. If you have a need for a good, professional and fast VPS look no further than SSDNodes. It’s been a very dependable service.

In the future I would use them again if they met the requirements of my needs.
