ColoCrossing is quite famous in our community – or infamous if you prefer.
The history of LowEndBox/LowEndTalk goes like this:
- The semi-mythical LowEndAdmin founded it
- @Chief bought it later
- He sold it to ColoCrossing
- Deluxe bought ColoCrossing and let it languish
- Jon Biloh (@jbiloh) bought it from Deluxe and revived the brand
Jon started ColoCrossing but sold it years ago.
Deluxe is over 100 years old – yes, really! They were founded in 1915 and for decades were a check printing outfit. Later they got into payment processing and then dipped their toes into web hosting and other online businesses. They’ve pulled back from that and earlier this year sold that business to HostPapa.
So ColoCrossing is now a HostPapa company and is continuing operations the same as before – including no iPv6. Sorry, couldn’t resist that long-running truth meme from LET. Here’s how they describe themselves these days:
ColoCrossing is a HostPapa brand – offering best-in-class colocation services, dedicated servers, and a wide variety of managed services and solutions provided by our 8 nationwide datacenters in New York City, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Jose, and Buffalo. We are a team of intensely dedicated professionals that understand that deploying and managing IT infrastructure is of paramount importance to the success of your business.
They recently contacted us to share some deals. After the jump you’ll find cheap dedi servers starting at only $35/month in Buffalo (naturally), Chicago, Dallas, LA, Atlanta, Seattle, and San Jose! Plus an interesting colo/lease-to-own deal! Be sure to read their TOS and then check out these offers…then come back and reference those ColoCrossing meme 😉

Lease-to-own is a strange idea given the age of the hardware… Why would you lease-to-own outdated servers with 12-year-old processors, and two Juniper routers that are EOL next year? (https://support.juniper.net/support/eol/product/ex_series/). By the time you’ve paid for the first three years, it’ll probably be time to retire all that old hardware. 🤔
