VirtuallyDedicated.com Via this WHT offer. VirtuallyDedicated, formally RockMyWeb, has recently changed their website since last time when we looked at it. It has also updated their offers of cloud servers (OpenVZ) and Xen servers, plus a 30% off promotion with coupon code SAVE30. I was looking at their offers to see whether it’s possible to squeeze in our criteria of $7/month (for up to one year prepaid), and it “just” made it. Annual payment gives you extra 10% discount, and together it comes down to $83.08/Year ($6.92/month). You get:

  • 384MB guaranteed memory + 1024MB burstable (OpenVZ), or 768MB swap (Xen)
  • 24GB storage
  • 300GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ or Xen on VPSGrid

Two DC of choice — Scranton (BurstNET) or Chicago (FDCServers), where you get to choose when you sign up.

The original owner of LowEndBox known as "LowEndAdmin" or "LEA" for short founded LowEndBox in 2008 and created the concept of hosting applications on low resource "Low End Boxes". After creating the roots of the community that we know today, "LEA" stepped aside and allowed others to carry the torch forward.

Nice to see a decent amount of disk storage (24GB) instead of the usual 5 or 10gb.
Pity they don’t allow any IRC.

  3. Don:

Yes, but you didn’t include the rest where they discuss IRC:

“IRC, Torrent, Proxy, and Adult Hosting – Adult and Proxy hosting are allowed on our hosting. We ask to be careful what content is offered as illegal content or abuse reports will lead to termination of your account. IRC and Copyrighted Torrents (warez) are not to be hosted on our servers. Any IRC related service or illegal files will lead to termination of your account.”

So “Any IRC related service … will lead to termination of your account”.

  5. I love when I accidently hit enter :)

This is due to our first year* in business when we had 3 customers who ran IRC hosting that caused DDOS attacks on our network at various times causing issues for all of our clients. We hate it that this ruins it for all IRC hosters because we know not all will attract attacks but we do not want to risk downtime for our other customers because of it.

    Thank you.

  8. Hello,

Private proxies are allowed. We just do not allow public proxies due to high-risk.

    Thank you.

  9. It is a pity that I didn’t find this promo earlier. It seems that the promo is over now.

In fact I have been considering purchase VPS from PhotonVPS. but this offer looks better.

However, PhotonVPS has first month half price promo for trial.
