LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

VMBox - $7/Month 2048MB OpenVZ VPS in Luxembourg, Phoenix and Scranton.

Steven, from VMBox, has an exclusive OpenVZ offer for LowEndBox readers.

LowEndBox OpenVZ VPS

This is the first time that VMBox, who were founded in April of this year, have been featured on here. Steven previously ran NozHost, who were featured on LowEndBox, they were subsequently sold to the Ixam Hosting group. NozHost, along with another host, were accused by UrPad of launching DDoS attacks in February but nothing ever came of it. The thread is long but there’s an excellent summary by Chief. VMBox have an account on LowEndTalk, but have only posted one offer so far. Phoenix servers have Raid 10 but Scranton and Luxembourg nodes have Raid 1.

Additional IPv4 addresses are charged at $2 per ip per month and a cPanel license is available for an additional $9.95/month extra in Phoenix only. VMBox accept the following payment methods: credit/debit cards, PayPal (Via 2Checkout), Liberty Reserve, Payza and, on request, Moneybookers. They don’t offer any type of refund. They allow IRC, Legal Porn and more or less, anything else that’s legal. For more information, you may want to read their Terms of Service and their Privacy Policy.

  1. Read the TOS very carefully. Aside from the TOS being *very* badly formatted, the information in this article is not accurate.

    VPS accounts may not:
    a) exceed a 15 minute load average greater than two (2) times the amount of CPU cores given.
    b) run public IRCd’s or malicious bots.
    c) run any type of BitTorrent client or tracker that links to or downloads illegal content.
    d) use an Open/Public proxy, or utilize a proxy to access illegal/malicious content.
    e) use I/O intensive applications which adversely affect normal server operations.

    Additionally, their Phoenix location is with SingleHop, who seem to be very unfriendly towards controversial but legal content. I’d say that the phrase “more or less, anything that’s legal” is not accurate.

      Right from the domain WHOIS:
      Registrant Address1: 7 Fresca Road
      Registrant City: Oldham
      Registrant State/Province: Gtr Manchester
      Registrant Postal Code: OL1 4NN
      Registrant Country: United Kingdom
      Registrant Country Code: UK

      Given that it’s just expecting that such things are in the TOS.

      VPS based in or owned by a citizen of the UK and US are only interesting for running client websites of freelance website developers. Not for your own ‘cloud’, personal email-server, hobby projects or personal website.

      Too bad, since the Luxembourgian internet jurisdiction is less restrictive in comparison with the one of USA or UK. In this case, the only advantage of having a Luxembourgian VPS of VMBox is the ping.

      Also, judging the price & specs of this offer with the prices and specs at Server.lu, I could only conclude it’s very, very oversold.

      Subject: NozHost.Com is rebranding to reflect our new direction.

      Hello Client Name,

      1st July is a significant day for our company. It’s the day we drop the name “NozHost” which we have been using for 18 month’s and go by our new name: “VMBox.Co”. 2012 has been an exceptional year for us and we thank you for your continued support. NozHost client base has grown rapidly and we feel it’s time to rebrand and redesign our site to reflect our new direction. VMBox.Co will be shifting primary focus from cPanel and reseller hosting to budget and premium VPS services.

      We plan to offer both budget OpenVZ and premium KVM virtual private servers. To mark the start of a new era for our company, we are offering all existing NozHost customers 20% off all KVM and OpenVZ VPS. Please use promo code “20%VMBox” at the checkout to make this huge saving.

      Current customers will see very little change during the switch over to the new domain. Your current pricing and plans will stay the same, as will your login details for the billing and support center. All you will need to do is change your nameservers to the new domain’s, like as follows.

      The billing and support area will change from:

      http://nozhost.com/client/ -> http://my.vmbox.co/

      Contact Details:

      Emails:

      Support@NozHost.Com -> Support@VMBox.Co

      Abuse@NozHost.Com -> Abuse@VMBox.Co

      Skype:

      NozHost -> VMBoxCo

      Twitter:

      @VMBoxCo

      Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

      Kind Regards,

      Steven Norris

      NozHost as a company was not sold. The domain was changed and ALL customers came with me to VMBox. The domain was then sold to another company for the traffic. I still have customers from day one. If you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

        Hiya Steven,

        I’m considering to move to VPS to host several PHP sites, but I’m a bit reluctant due to not having experience managing mail server (Postfix). All I did was qmail many years ago.

        Otherwise, would just need PHP-FPM, MYSL (MariaDB) + mail (postfix+dovecot).

        What do you think?

          We are an unmanaged provider, although tech’s do try and help if you get stuck along the way. We do however have cheap cPanel licenses available in our Phoenix location if that is financially viable. Please don’t hesitate to submit a sales ticket if would like further information.

    I’m not sure that using panels add-on would still make the offer attractive…I’m from poor Croatia. :-/

      You could use virtualmin free version. It is as good as if not better than cpanel. The UI sucks a little bit, but then it is a free product. Actually you can even import a cpanel dump from virtualmin. I migrated from cpanel shared hosting to virtualmin vps in around 6hrs.

    Hmm no refunds, no dice. Unless you offer some kind of 3 day trial or something.

    After the nightmare I had with ChicagoVPS, I’m pretty much done with any provider that doesn’t either provide a cheap/free 3-5day trial, or a fair refund policy such as pro-rated or full within X amount of days.

    I’m just glad my chargeback to ChicagoVPS was finally approved.

      “one of the biggest flooders” – I work 40 hours a week, i don’t have time for that shit.
      “they got flooded to death themself” – So i take it your ip got nulled?
      “stole there clients content and email” – What content and emails? To be honest with that grammar i don’t want your content.
      “worst support” – Obviously, if you don’t like what we’re telling you, you are going to think it’s bad.
      “ripped there hosting customers of who paid yearly on romania and there other server moved them to usa” – Yes, we moved RO shared servers to USA. We allow the same content in both countries, so the only reason to complain would be hosting warez/nulled. We also offered a free proxy to all customers.
      “lets say hi to nozhosts norris tosser” – Hi?
      “resellers was down for around 3-4 days at a time” – Obviously an over exaggeration. We’ve never had a downtime like that.
      “we had no control panel” – VPS.VMBox.Co has been online since day one.
      “node was slow as hell” –

I tried asking for a refund after the fact due to giving up on it after 2 weeks or so. In the end I filed a Paypal dispute to only get rejected as this person uses 2checkout.com to hide behind as a seller. This is by far the biggest waste of $7 in my life, and possibly a worthwhile candidate for fraud. Fraud is illegal in most countries and is punishable with jail time.

    Email support was always available when the portal was down and all VPS nodes have 99%+ uptime. Service credits are applied if we fall below 99%.

    We don’t provide refunds on VPS as stated in our terms of service, which was agreed to during signup and also posted in the offer details on this page. Are you the customer who became abusive via email and got terminated?

      If you would read my name that I am posting on, and even cared about people who have paid you money for your “services”, you would know exactly who I am. I use the term “services” lightly, as they were not available for me over 50% to 75% of the time I tried to use the server.

      Stand on your soapbox and spout your lies all you want Steve, your are a scammer. My VPS was down over 50% of the time. Within the first 24 hours of having purchased your services, you sent me this via email after I contacted you about both the server and your client area being unresponsive:

      “We are currently receiving a Gbit+ flood on our Scranton node.”

      I think it’s laughable that you think that I don’t know that this was the issue the whole month of my services.

      Please tell everyone here why you have to run Cloudflare DDoS protection on your site and client area. It’s obviously because you have problems with people DDoSing and flodding your services constantly. It was even stated in the LowEndBox post above that your previous service had the same issue. Apparently those script kiddies are not done making you disappear yet.

      No, I’m the customer that couldn’t cancel my account because your client area was constantly down. I also asked you quite nicely originally over email to cancel my account and refund my $7, as my partial month of service at the time was not acceptable. At the time you said that you could not cancel my account, only I could from the client area. Then later you emailed me to tell you that you did cancel my account and would not refund my money. This was the point I started to realize you were just an scammer and disputed the charges.

      I even sent you a screenshot of said client area being down. In fact, I have the emails all logged. I’m also the one that filed a Paypal dispute about your fraudulent services and will be contacting 2Checkout.com for the same reason. Here is the same screenshot for everyone else here to see. This is what I saw most times I tried to login to my “account” with this “service”. 99%+ uptime is a complete and utter lie and is false advertising at the very least, if not complete fraud. It’s a shame you can’t honor your customers with the services they paid for and take things to the level of fraud over $7.

      I am posting this information here due to the fact that this is where I found out about VMBox’s services. Somehow Steve got out of refunding me my money through a Paypal dispute, and I don’t want anyone else to fall victim to this scam.

    As stated in our terms, we do not provide refunds. We can however offer you a free month if you feel you didn’t get what you paid for. We aren’t here to scam.

    Regarding the flood on Scranton last month, we contacted VD and got the ip nulled quickly. We have never had any extended period of downtime on any of our nodes so i don’t know why you couldn’t access your VPS. If you had submitted a support ticket, we could have investigated for you.

    Please contact us via email if you wish to have the additional month.

  29. Sir,

    It looks like we are working with vmbox.co who are like a child, who without any reason stopped my 4 VPS with them and they have blocked one VPS first about abuse complaint and to my suprise when i had seen all my other 3 VPS also were stopped, i have asked the reason which they just gave one line answer that you were given time but u didnt fix things.

    I have given this VPS to my client and i was not intimated for the same, and abuse whenever the complaint comes the format of the thing is one VPS for which abuse has come it would be stopped not all.

    Secondly, when a reply is given atleast from the backend like through other IP or anything we can go and fix the abuse issue which has not happened as these guys have just unplugged the VPS

    I have lots of Legal data in that pertaining to Police Department, which i have requested them to atleast make it on so that we can take out our data for which i had to stay awake from night 1 AM to 5AM but they replied only one line at 2 AM that we have given you time to fix issue of 24 hrs for abuse u didnt do.

    Is this a kind of support i expect from any professional company, i still request your kindness to please understand what you did is wrong, and if you think you did is right please give us the justification and please allow us things to fix, but here nothing like that is happening, a communication itself is a nightmare we cannot communicate with them at all.

    I can’t speak for others, but my company and I have had excellent success and service with VM Box. It is the fastest server I’ve ever had. If you want support, it has to go through the VMBox control panel, and these are unmanaged servers. The price is great and I’ve been very happy. I had a challenge to learn to manage some things, such as DNS for mail. But I learned it and did not complain.
