yet this provider is hiding behind Private Whois, care to explain why it got listed?

“Ecatel IP: 80.82.70.133” backresolves as “strike.dotvps.net” and LEB has featured DotVPS in the past:
    http://www.lowendbox.com/blog/dotvps-4-98-512mb-openvz-vps-in-jacksonville-or-netherlands/
Oh look, and even the same locations and the same test IPs!
“There’s not much more to say about NozHost at this point, they’re quite new to LowEndBox being their first offer.” you say? Not to mention that the sentence doesn’t even make sense (“they’re quite new to LowEndBox being their first offer”?). What a bag of fail.

This is ridiculous, they probably dont even have their own servers..

As for LEB, it gets worst and worst, the new owners dumped the old image of lowendbox behind and now i just cant stand it! the old owner actually put effort into posts :S

      • Well he does have a point, it took one member minutes to find something (same test IP’s) which you didn’t pick up on while doing your entire investigation (or what SHOULD have been an investigation). That’s what we all loved about LEA’s posts.

It’s not like LEA would always did all the work for us. That’s why is there “Leave a Reply” option as something what we use over those few years of lowendbox.com. As someone who’s there from beginning I think that posts above aren’t completely realistic. LEA did good work but it’s not like he would make detailed investigation for every VPS offer he posted. Offer is here as it should be… and you have all chances to do research and make decisions by yourself.

        • Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. We originally wanted to help protect the community from these types of posts and we were attacked by that decision, now we decide to be less strict and give providers the benefit of the doubt and we’re such horrible people. We’re not going to invest hours into each provider, we just can’t do it. But it’s true that you can’t please everyone so we’re not going to try. :)

That being said, my internet has been spotty for the past week so I have yet to actually make a blog post so the others are picking up for my slack right now. My apologies.

The question was more about whether to disallow shady providers altogether or to post their ads anyway, but with the results of some research and a warning if necessary. There are many old postings where LEA would post a shady provider… and then go on to detail for a paragraph everything that makes them shady, but he’d still let people make up their own minds about whether they wanted to sign up with that provider or not.

Regardless, these guys should be banned from posting and this ad removed if there’s any truth to the claims on LET that they’re running DOSes.

Just read that pathetic excuse of a thread and consider his accusations libellous and defamatory. The VPS was bought for a now former, casual employee Will. Looks like he did some stress testing with it. I only paid for him as part of his weekly wages because i no longer use PayPal, and he doesn’t have a Liberty Reserve account. Making accusations before hearing my story is very unprofessional. Also releasing personal details on open forum is, in my view unacceptable. No real harm was done, abuse in this industry is inevitable. Would the same post be made if i had warez linking on the VPS? I request LEA remove the thread immediately as he has no proof i sent any attacks. Thank god we live in modern world where suspicion alone, doesn’t constitute a crime.

        • It doesn’t change the fact that the IP is physically resolving in Jacksonville. Do a traceroute for their test IP and then do a traceroute for SecureDragon’s website (8.22.203.8), should be nearly identical because they are in the same DC. ;)

This is the first DDoS we have had in months, our servers actually have great uptime for budget hosting. “Norris pissing people of” how do you mean?

Are you suggesting i sign into different accounts to make my company look more successful? Why would i do this? If i was actually doing this, wouldn’t i just make up a random name?

By your spelling and grammar i predict you are a 15 year old impatient kid, who has nothing better to do than complain about $1 shared hosting on a VPS review site.

For VPS customers doubting our uptime please see uptime screenshots below:

We do not advertise any type of DDoS protection on our shared/reseller hosting nodes, although we do have hardware firewalls, high RAM and 1Gbps on some servers to help mitigate these attacks. We also have software protection such as Litespeed webserver, CSF, DoSDeflate and other scripts.

If you aren’t happy with our service why didn’t you submit a ticket or contact us on live support to resolve your issues rather than posting on a VPS review site? You are welcome to go elsewhere if your not happy, or submit a ticket and i’ll personally attempt to rectify this situation and bring your complaint to a satisfactory conclusion.

Our monthly uptime is actually good, and we aim to, and usually reach 99% uptime. For the price of $1/month, (which we only receive $0.65) the quality of the hosting and hardware is good. You could go to HostGator and pay 5 times as much and you will undoubtedly receive a better service. We don’t claim to be the best but you definitely get what you pay for, plus a little more.
