VPS Ace - $3.25/month 1GB and $5/month 2GB OpenVZ VPS in the USA and The Netherlands

VPS-Hosting-VPS-Servers-VPS-Ace 2013-10-22 11-41-02Matt, from VPS Ace, has sent in two new exclusive offers from their OpenVZ VPS line! These offers feature special IP pricing in the USA, with additional IPv4 addresses costing just $0.25/month each! We’ve known VPS Ace for a while now, as they have been featured several times before on LowEndBox.com. These offers are available in Buffalo, NY (where VPS Ace also offers KVM VPS), Chicago, IL, Los Angeles, CA, and Alblasserdam, The Netherlands. OpenVZ nodes are configured with an Intel Xeon E3-1240v2 CPU, 32 GB of RAM, 4x 1TB hard drives in RAID 10, backup up by LSI RAID with BBU, using an Intel 520 SSD for caching.

Legal adult content, IRC and VPN are allowed. IPv6 is unfortunately not available. Servers are automatically provisioned once payment has been received. I’ve registered 1GB plan, so far so good. Though I did not receive email regarding my login credential nor server info. I just poke around the site and found it at Billing and Support. Open a ticket, and got a reply 24 hours. The network transfer speed is 10-20mbps up/down. I will keep it for another few months, depending on their uptime. Maybe will upgrade to 2GB ram if necessary.

I ordered the 1GB last night. I got assigned a bad IP address. Created a ticket, was asked if I am ok with the IP changing which I said yes to immediately. Well, 16 hours later and I still not heard anything. I even tried updating the ticket from my customer panel.
To give credit, my other VPS with them has had no issues for almost a year now.

    It’s now 20hours ago that I ordered a VPS.
Payed the invoice immediately after the order (via PayPal) – still showing as ‘Unpaid’
Wrote a ticket – To give half a credit here: Fast answer but just to console with “Your ticket is on hold, please wait until someone from the billing team is online. Please note that the billing system does not have 24/7 support”

Well, no problem that the billing system does not have 24/7 support – But maybe this should be an 8hour per day support?
Some hours later, an answer – Cheered too soon… “How is your transaction ID?”
    Ok, pasted the transaction ID.

Until now – NO more support…
Let’s see how long I have to wait for my VPS

    • Foobar!:

After 30hours of payment the billing staff answered: “You’re good to go”.

      VPS is active. Yeah!
      Trying to connect – Error.
Trying to ping the IP – Request timeout.

lol, are you kidding? First let me wait 30h and then gimme a VPS with an unreachable IP?

Ok, next Ticket. Answer: “There seems to be an issue with the IP address – Should we change your IP to see how it goes?”
At this point I was kind of angry and remind me to the South Park Season 14 Episode 04 (Facebook) – “Do you want to delete your profile? Yes/No – Yes! Do you really want to delete your profile? Yes/No – Yes!”
      Whatever….

What is a VPS without a reachable IP?
Dear VPS Ace, I don’t know what kind of qualifications you have but YES for sure I want another IP address which is working.
I certainly thought about solving it with a new IP – What’s the matter behind it? You have IP’s in your pool which are not routed correctly? I don’t know, maybe you should do a research on your end.

If you instantly need a working VPS, go search somewhere else ;-) Might be better.

        Ok ok… The happy end:

My ticket got answered in about 10 minutes! Don’t wanna nag all the time, the tech-support seems to be kind of better than the billing support.

So at the end, after ~30,5h I got my VPS working.

        Straight looking forward!

I missed payment on the 4/11/2014. My fault. I went to pay the invoice the day after I got a suspension letter on 7/11/2014 and found my VPS listed as terminated. This is the relevant terms and conditions clause:

    Non-Payment & Service Suspension
All payments are due in full on the monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual anniversary date as dictated by the customer’s original subscription agreement. Failure to remit payment for services on the monthly anniversary date is a violation of the TOS. Failure to remit payment for three (3) consecutive days, following the anniversary date, shall result in suspension of public access to Customer services. Failure to remit payment for services within ten (10) consecutive days, following the anniversary date, shall result in termination of all customer data and hosted backups.

Arnold must have been working that day. Instead of being suspended three days after my payment was due, I was terminated. Hasta la vista baby!

So please realise when you go with VPSAce, you are not dealing with a company that complies to their own terms. I am going elsewhere. VPSAce is cheap for a good reason. There be monkeys.

      Hi,
FYI. This one got escalated to Billing and I received a tiny little apology and a refund because apparently their terms as expressed on their website are incorrect. Because this had gone a while without any reference to refunding me that I had asked for early in the piece, I put in a paypal dispute for the extra money I had given them to cover the VPS that I didn’t know was already toast. The dispute was clearly titles “just in case so I don’t lose buyer protection”. Well I got my refund alright. I also got my other box I had with them terminated along with my account at VPSAce.

      Monkeys.

Now as far as TOS goes, I think these guys messed up and could not bring themselves to say so ( legal reasons I suppose ). To cover themselves they lied to me about the actual terms of service. I would be very surprised if people already with VPSAce realise that what this means is that if you forget to pay you LOSE your VPS at midnight at the end of day three after the due date.

To me that seems pretty absolutely ridiculous, but as I pointed out earlier, they’re be monkeys.

I suggest anyone with a VPSAce VPS service immediately contact them and ask what the TOS are for Non-Payment & Service Suspension so you know where you actually stand.

      cheers,
      Dave.
