LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

VPSCheap.net – Unmetered VPS starting at $10/year in Chicago, USA

VPSCheap.net has sent us two exclusive offers for the LowEndBox readers. These are OpenVZ VPS with SSD disk space and unmetered bandwidth. Servers are located in Chicago with CoreSite. Because this is from a resident host, we highly recommend their services.

Host node configuration uses e3-1230, e3-1270, e5-1620, e5-2620 or an E5630 CPU. They utilize RAID10 on all of their nodes. They have 1U and 2U nodes, 4 drives and 8 drives respectively, using WD Enterprise drives only and Samsung SSDs, on ARECA and LSI 4 & 8port controllers. Note that backups are not provided, which means customers are responsible for backing up their data.

  • 2x CPU Cores
  • 3GB SSD space
  • 30mbps uplink
  • Unmetered bandwidth

VPSCheap.net is a registered company based in the state of Illinois. They have been in business since 2010 and own their cages with Coresite datacenter. They were first featured here in 2011 – since the active days of LEA. They also have their own IP allocation directly from ARIN. All of these are strong indicators of a very good company.

Their offers here in LowEndBox are all well received, because they are one of the very few hosts that offers unmetered bandwidth. Feedback are generally positive, praising their stability, I/O, support and network. Recent benchmarks of their servers indeed shows very good network and disk performance. In my opinion, this deal is a steal considering the amount of SSD space, unmetered bandwidth, competitive prices, and good reputation of the host!

PayPal and credit cards are accepted payment methods. Torrents and TOR are not allowed. IRC is allowed only if customer does not cause issues. There is no refunds for these offers and all sales are final. Kindly read their Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy carefully before you order.

  3. The yearly is perfect for running my personal use VPN. Reasonably priced, fast enough, and a dedicated IP for myself. I used them a couple years ago and they were very stable, with almost 0 downtime, I’ll give them a go again. Thanks!

    • Mike:

Depends on which offer you chose and what template do you want to install. Debian 6 minimal takes less than 200MB for example.

Could someone from the company clarify whether this usage is allowable?

Unmetered, but 30mbps to avoid hogging a shared resource. That means hosting something like a patch server shouldn’t be a problem? (periods of little to no activity, periods of 24/7 use for up to a month.) Doesn’t need to be blistering fast. People can wait in queue, download patches ahead of time, and then they can go active on a given date. Many people also don’t patch until later. Would this be allowable? Hardly impacts I/O since smaller patches can be RAM cached, 30mbit caps it to ~3MB/sec, and it’s on SSDs. CPU wouldn’t be taxed at all. The only resource that would be taxed is bandwidth, which is taken care of by limiting the speed?

I see that there’s no torrenting. That includes legal torrenting, and even just being a seeder on one torrent? If so, a patch server isn’t allowable either? It’s similar use, so I’d love some clarification.

This is a good question – I now have a VPS from the defunct Crissic.net, and just the operating system takes 3 GB of space. And that’s not even a lot (on my home desktop, the Linux with all the desktop stuff takes 17 GB of space). So 3 GB is a little unrealistic. I don’t need 50 GB like I got on Crissic.net (I never used over 4 GB), but 3 GB is too low… I’d even prefer a bigger but slower disk.

      • Nadav:

Just a clarification: I checked again, and the OS doesn’t actually take 3 GB on my Crissic VPS. It actually takes only 1 GB, plus 2 GB for the log files, which can be easily be cleared.
So 3 GB is actually more realistic than I figured. Constrained, but not unusable.

All you need to do is keep your VPS OS up to date then type one line in the SSH Console “wget git.io/vpn –no-check-certificate -O openvpn-install.sh && bash openvpn-install.sh” and follow the installation or watch this detailed guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9ZP08Y2PvQ

This is a dumb question I know, but it says it needs a host name. does that mean I need to buy a new domain name?

    • wr:

no you don’t need your own domain name, you can put the hostname in your own hosts file, or you can just use the ip to ssh to it.

Signed up, apparently my email address triggered a Maxmind fraud error as it was “unknown” – (my own personal domain)

Sent an email to Sales/Billing to get the order manually approved but the ticket was simply closed with no reply.

What a great way to treat potential customers.

  24. I feel it necessary to point out that the Acceptable Use Policy of vpscheap expressly forbids you from accessing the internet, “Any account found connecting to a third party network or system without authorization from the third party is subject to suspension. Access to networks or systems outside of your direct control must be with expressed written consent from the third party.”
So if you ever wanted to use the internet, for example to run ‘ping google.com’ to check the connection is active, then you’d need written permission from Google and every single intermediary network provider and router otherwise the company may just terminate your account, according to this wording.

  30. I ordered 256MB box from this offer. It worked fine as PPTP VPN server so far, but suddenly gets frequent shutdowns recently. I’m provided a text log showing there is “SYN flooding”. I disabled PPTP service and used the box for other services, but shutdowns still occur from time to time, and technical support won’t provide any other help. I won’t use this provider again.
