LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

VPSDeploy - $12/Year 64MB SSD based OpenVZ in France

vpsdeployAdmin at VPSDeploy have sent us their latest ultra lowend offer on their SSD based plans with price tag of $12/year having the following specs

MiniVPS-0

  • 64MB RAM / 128MB Burst
  • 2 GB SSD
  • 500 GB BW/month @ 100mb port
  • 1 vCore @ 1 Ghz
  • OpenVZ / SolusVM
  • 1 x IPv4
  • 0 x IPv6 (ETA Q3-2012)
  • 2 x Snapshot backups in SolusVM

Direct signup link

Servers hosted in OVH France and daily offsite backups taken in Germany Hetzner which clearly shows their efforts to protect customer data. Its about time I saw another ultra lowend VPS offer (memory wise). Snapshot backups in SolusVM is certainly a plus and not popular among LEB providers

Can you double-check the test IP, this one doesn’t seem to be correct.

Do they support pptp vpn and tun/tap for openvpn ?!

    • Hi anony,
you can request to activate by ticket, we verify some things before to actiavte:

      – You need configure a real domain/hostname with public whois
      – You need setup the reverse PTR record: https://vpsdeploy.com/knowledgebase/55/How-to-configure-the-Reverse-PTR-Record.html

This verifications are do because we dont permit anonymouse VPNs using our network.

      Regards.

I hope you’re aware that our domains ownership isn’t your business and there’s no single reason to own domain at all. Especially not for PERSONAL (private) vpn.

        August 16, 2012 @ 2:31 pm | Reply
        • Spirit, Internet official documents (RFC 1033, RFC 1912 Section 2.1) specify that “Every Internet-reachable host should have a name” and that such names match with a reverse PTR pointer record.

You need use your own domain, we dont provide domains service.
You can use your own dns servers if you want, but this a RFC and we respect to prevent hacks from our network.

        • Spirit:

RFC you’re quoting is 16 years old and if you’re sticking with it and “respect it”:
          – it’s you the one who should give out addresses with proper PTR setup
          – or you should request domain ownership as mandatory to order your service which would be of course foolish

But as you don’t demand domain as mandatory for ordering your vps service it’s pretty obvious that you don’t “respect” RFC you’re quoting and you request domain only for specific service.
So what I am saying is that you use “RFC” only because it suits you for argument but otherwise you don’t stick with it. Do I need domain when I order your service or not?

      • By default, we dont provide managed servers, we can’t assure the content and app’s installed on our VPS’s. For this reason, we dont use our domain as a reverse. Is a way to prevent hacks from our servers, because commonly, hackers dont want configure the reverse.
If you do the reverse configuration, you’re assuring the legimitancy of your service and host usage.

        • Gary:

Commonly, hackers don’t want to jump through a hoop? What’s to stop them just setting up a hostname with a domain from freedns.afraid.org?

probably 50% of my VPSes have no hostnames set because they’re not public facing.

This is a silly rule with no real logic behind it.

  5. 1- Our website is in a BETA datacenter, DNS servers for PTR are not yet setup.
2- Yes, is mandatory, you can see in our terms: https://vpsdeploy.com/terms.php

Oh, crap – you’re right, this crazy unrealistic rule is even in your TOS. No domain without whois privacy setup = no service with you? Or just no VPNs? :) Anyway bad luck then.. as some ccTLDs (unlike you) protect privacy of private entities with including private whois by default.

Example: If a .si domain is registered by a private individual (not a company), only their e-mail address is visible on the whois. This means that privacy protection is included by default for private individuals.

      • Not problem if you want use this type of domains. Is Ok.
Is not permited public subdomains like dyndns.org.

I think that Asim Zeeshan should update this offer with “We inform you that if the reverse is not configured, vpsdeploy.com can suspend the service” as it’s unrealistic, unusual and most of us here don’t use domains for every VPS we have.

    I think they are crazy.
I bought one plan they doubt me will use their service to ddos, after a hour waste, they active the machine and tell me need bind a domain.
OK, I bind one and ping ok, but I can’t set the dns recode by DNS Manager, just one buttom and just return “Zone yourdomain.com already exists”, I test on firefox and IE8, same result.
Then I can’t set ptr record, it just return “Reverse DNS is disabled for this ipaddress. Please contact support” and ”
Cannot resolve NS query. Try again later! in /home/vps…”.
I already open a TK, but I strongly recommended if you want to buy one you must to reconsider again and again.

To set up the reverse DNS, you need to first add the info to your main DNS server.

Sorry guys. I know this is not the place to show once frustration, but there is no place for me to tell about this company. I haven’t seen any incompetent company like VPSdeploy on this board. Activation is not instant (as they claim on the web site), if you are luck you will get server detail after 1-2 hours, that too an IP address which you cannot login, service is pathetic, high priority tickets were not answered even after two days (still waiting…). And finally, you cannot ask for refund.

    Hats of to VPSdeploy.

I request LowEndAdmin to avoid this sort of offerings.

EL dueno de esta empresa es un tal espanol Jose Manuel Ginger que no da la cara.

El se enoja y te borra el server cuando le da la gana. Asi me hizo sin devolver el dinero.

The whole thing is probably going down due to the increase in OVH’s IP pricing.
There is no way anyone can now offer $12/year VPSes from OVH.
Your server being down could simply mean all their dedis are being turned-off and wiped for non-payment one by one.
