VPSDime - $7/month 6GB RAM, 30GB SSD, 10Gbps uplink in Dallas or Seattle

Oktay is back with a special offer for his brand VPSDime. This is the sixth time we’re featuring VPSDime. They came third in the most recent quarterly poll, having established themselves as a popular and stable provider in the community. This offer features a VPS that’s not only shy of RAM and SSD space, but also not of network power: it includes a 10Gbps uplink! Oktay and his brands are known for the custom control panel they all utilize, always fully integrated into the billing area. No double logins and no SolusVM to have to fool around with. VPSDime nodes are dual E5-2620v2’s or dual E5-2640v2’s with 384GB RAM and 8 x SSD drives in RAID10. The VPSDime hardware is rented from Incero in both Dallas and Seattle, which are the only two locations this offer is available in. IPv6 does not seem to be available, but with the one IPv4 you should be safe for now. I’ve found a review for VPSDime and it’s positive one at that! Please share your own experiences with us here.

The plan

  • 6GB RAM
  • 30GB SSD space
  • 4 vCPU cores
  • 2TB traffic
  • 10Gbps uplink
  • 1x IPv4
  • OpenVZ/Custom
  • $7/month
  • Order here

VPSDime accepts payments via PayPal and credit and debit cards via 2Checkout. VPSDime VPS are allowed to do pretty much everything except BitTorrent, TOR, Public VPNs/Open Proxies, MineCraft Servers, CamFrog, Digital Currency Mining and illegal activity. The full TOS are available here, be sure to read them before you order!

  2. 6GB RAM,it is wasted to most of people, cloud you add more 128m/256m/512m/1g/2g…

    August 23, 2014 @ 9:57 am | Reply
    • We don’t do anything lower than 6GB unfortunately. You don’t have to use all the memory. Unused memory is not wasted. Linux will keep caching things and make your applications work faster.

If you only need 1-2GB memory, you’ll achieve that. You’ll receive a fast, reliable and affordable service with the ability to use the rest of the memory for caching by solutions like memcached, varnish, etc.

Our nodes are configured with 384GB memory, so selling lower ram VPS will not necessarily lower the price.

Your right serverian. 6GB RAM is my hope. Specially I’m developing and using social network site software and 6GB is not enough in the future. Till’ my site user is becoming more and active the memory usage is becoming high. I have ability to upgrade my RAM more than 6GB and that is one of the best option offered by VPSDime. Although I did not start till’ now my 4th social network site project and I’m lucky to use VPSDime for this new project because I already vision the future of my next social network site.

“IPv6 does not seem to be available, but with the one IPv4 you should be safe for now.”

That’s part of the problem. IPv6 should easily be standard at this point. Hard to take a VPS provider seriously if they aren’t taking IPv6 seriously at this point.

    August 23, 2014 @ 4:25 pm | Reply
    • We have IPv6 available on our 1Gbps networks. Anyone who requires IPv6 can ask to be put on those nodes. The datacenter is working on getting the IPv6 automation working on the new 10Gbps network. It should be up in the following weeks.

Just so you know, the usage percent of IPv6 on our other networks that supports it is below 0.1%. It’s far from widely adopted.

I’ve had VPSDime and as far as their VPS goes it’s been great.

My only concern is with their offloading MySQL they do not allow much time for the MySQL timeout /keep-alive, so if you connect to their MySQL servers, and don’t use it in your PHP script for 5-10 seconds then try to run an SQL command it will result in an MySQL server has gone away error. They refuse to up the keep-alive time to account for this and I had to manually re-code most of my php scripts which connect to MySQL .

The alternative to this is using some of that 6GB to run your own MySQL databases which would be fine but I was told “MySQL processes get de-rated in priority” so they basically want to force you to use their offloading MySQL services, but refuse to use standard settings for maximum compatibility.

Ouch, that sounds like a major issue and the lack of a response seems totally out of character from everything else that I’ve read about vpsdime. Hopefully someone will chime in from the co. and give us some good news.

      August 27, 2014 @ 4:36 am | Reply
    • Our timeout variable is set to 10 seconds. Since this is an offloaded MySQL server that is getting reached over the network, keeping the connections alive more than that would cause having a lot of connections active all the time. None of our other customers have any application that needs more than 20 seconds of connection open with MySQL server. Running a SQL query more than 10 seconds is also not very beneficial on a shared environment. Because that automatically means a slow query and should be avoided.

We also don’t block the persistent connections, so you are able to connect the database server persistently.

While the MySQL processes are getting deprioritized, that doesn’t mean that they won’t run fast enough. You are more than welcome to use a MySQL server on your VPS. You are on a SSD node and I/O won’t be a problem either.

I doubt anyone mines on CPU anymore besides botnets.. but many people confused “digital currency mining” with just running the client.

If I ran the bitcoin, dogecoin, or whatever other client, w/o actually mining… does this count as ‘mining’? I ask because this other place didn’t seem to know the difference….. host1plus, it was

Sadly, even though things like this exist in an AUP, there are people out there who really just don’t care. I would say that running just the client for a wallet would be perfectly fine, but I’m not the provider in question, so I’d ask serverian for further clarification on that.

Be careful with these guys. I ordered the 6GB plan installed NGINX, MySQL Memcache and WordPress with W3C using RT Camp’s Easy Engine (I would check it out, it really is easy.). Then installed Jetpack and TubeAce 1.7. Offloaded my CSS and images to MaxCDN, used Cloudflare for DNS and security. In less than an hour with out even adding any content my site was suspended for heavy CPU use. On one domain and one installation of WordPress (single user) and 3 plug ins. Very disappointed.

    September 7, 2014 @ 8:35 am | Reply
    • Sounds like you probably received a Layer 7 DDoS attack which caused your load average spike above 30 and got auto suspended.

There are literally thousands of customers using their VPS with us to host WordPress. Sometimes they get attacks and we auto suspend them due to the load generated which would otherwise affect the other VPSes on the node negatively.

      • Georgi T:

        That’s a problem right there!

So you offer no protection against DDoS, no firewall and at the same time suspend the client’s VPS automatically.

There’s something shady going on! So Do I actually have the right to use that CPU or what?

How do I know at the same time that someone in connection with you is not doing DDoS attacks?
I’ve seen such comments about hosts doing their own DDoS on customers to charge and/or benefit in some way of that.

        This is just plain lame!

This really is making me search for a different provider!

Also its mentioned in the terms
“IF YOUR VPS(S) GETS MORE THAN ONE DDOS ATTACK (IN TOTAL), WE ARE GOING TO REFUND YOUR LAST PAYMENT AND STOP THE SERVICE. ”
Do you guys just delete the account or allow the user to stop the container and wait for ddos to stop and then start to take backup before moving, or provide a backup? I havnt got any ddos in the past and using Cpanel + CFS to secure, but just in case if it happens, how you guys deal with it.

    Thanks in advance….

    • Jay, we just suspend the container in an even of DDoS. Then we either provide a complete backup of the VPS in a tar.gz or the folders you want, or assign a temporary IP and power it back on and have you backup your files.

Heard many good reviews about VPSDIME. I wanted to buy a VPS, but then when I checked the whois and saw that the domain VPSdime(dot)com was registered only for 2 years and it is going to expire in July 2015. Why did you register the domain for such a short period? Ain’t you intending to run the business after July 2015. I know you can renew the domain but it creates doubt over the longevity of the company when you see the domain expiring in next ten months.

I’ve been using VPS Dime since this offer, almost 2 years ago, and currently have 3 VPS there (LAMP, virtualmin, varnish, wordpress,…), mainly for hosting customers websites.
The service is good, support is responsive and fast, in these 2 years had a couple of issues that led one or another server to get temporarilly suspended (virus uploaded by customers, load spikes,…), but they always helped me solving the issues and really do their best to keep things going.
I’ve had terrible experiences with other VPS providers (one is listed in this site), and really with these guys I can only say that i’ll remain their happy customer for a long time

Service has been good for me on vpsdime. There are occasional outages that last an hour or so (a couple so far this year on my vps) so I have not been too happy about that. They sometimes take servers down and might not inform users ahead of time when they are doing this, and their estimate of how long the servers will be down are not too accurate (they might say 2 hours, but it might take 6 hours to restore service). So other than these issues, I’ve been quite happy. Response times are quick to my questions, however mostly they cannot tell the reason for some issue my server is experiencing, they will simply tell me that I should hire a person who can help me manage my server.

After being with VPSDime for 2 weeks we cancelled our service. I’m writing this review because the issue wasn’t with VPSDime or it’s support staff. We we’re going to use VPSDime to host the frontend E-Commerce site for a business we are launching but the aged kernel they use for OpenVZ had us frought with errors. However some of the errors we’re over came with expedient responses from Support Staff. Some we’re software based and we just couldn’t get around.

In the end after being there 10+ days past the refund policy they still gave me a full refund. Further more this is for no bad marks on their support team either. I had an average across 6 tickets of 10 minutes or less on responses.

Overall I’d say if you are looking for cheap hosting and can live with the aged 2.63.2 Kernel it should do fine. If you need to generate a lot of secrets open a ticket and let them know in advanced to install Haveged for you. Outside of that if I need basic hosting on an older kernel their plan and package was well worth the $27.00 a quarter.

One of the best online business relationships I have ever had.

I still have this server running. Never re imaged. Customer service was always quick, always!, and I had very little support / interaction with them as the network and hardware are never problematic. Had a hardware upgrade and did not even show up as a blip on the radar re downtime.

Never any glitches in the affiliate program.

I only stopped marketing them on my domains because the owner got in contact with me and explained I was out ranking them on Google search for VPSDime :-) So I stopped some time in 2015. It was paying for it’s self and I had no worries in referring VPSDime.

    Number of Visitors Referred
    6664
    Number of Signups
    17
    Conversion Rate
    0.26%

    Total Amount Withdrawn: $130.00 USD

This package is a very good value. Over time 30gigs of disk space for my ageing and growing blogs is not enough. I purchased another VPS a KVM this time with 6cpu / 6ram / 60g SSD* on newer hardware $69/year. Via a deal I found here of course “SparkVPS.

If VPSDime reads this and if you ever have a deal that looks like ^^* PM or email me.

STAY AWAY from this ridiculous company. I signed up last night for a VPS, and FIRST, it “VERIFIED” my email address before it let me check out, okay that was weird but whatever I verified. Second, after paying, the owner emails me asking WHAT ARE MY INTENTIONS with this VPS? As if I was trying to marry his daughter. Okay VERY Weird, but I answered honestly and said I was going to host my Business WordPress websites. He responded again in the wee hours of the morning, questioning my god damn billing information, now i’ve had enough, this company is asking ridiculously intrusive questions and clearly doesn’t WANT my business. Cancelled and asked for refund immediately. I WARN people I’d definitely stay away from a host like this, what I do with my websites and what my billing address is is NONE of his god damn business when I am NOT breaking any terms of service and my payment is VALID with paypal from an established paypal account of 15 years old. Absolutely ridiculous business owner. ALL other hosts simply SETUP the VPS And send you the password, this guy’s ridiculously strict and while my REAL Estate business websites would break ZERO terms of service, I’m 100% sure he would give me problems constantly every day or week monitoring my sites like a hawk coming up with bullshit saying my wordpress websites are using too much resources and constantly suspending me without cause. STAY AWAY.
