vpsMachine Mat from vpsMachine emailed me their WHT offer the other day. They are currently running a special promotion until the end of October. Use promocode WHT0810 to get 30% off recurring discount. Their cheapest plan is now £3.49/month (order link), and here’s the spec:

  • 128MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 100GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers in UK I believe. According to the about us page, they are part of “A&M Web Ltd”, a private company in UK (Registration number: 6766231), that has been incorporated for a bit less than 2 years, who is also the registrar of their domain. Interestingly the website is hosted on Line3 Internet (non-redundant DNS fail), that also has A&M Web as registrar but the domain was registered back in 2005 (to registrant ITS-Linux Ltd that was registered back in 2000).

Looks like an actual company. Pricing might not be fantastic though, consider all the recent UK offers.

The original owner of LowEndBox known as "LowEndAdmin" or "LEA" for short founded LowEndBox in 2008 and created the concept of hosting applications on low resource "Low End Boxes". After creating the roots of the community that we know today, "LEA" stepped aside and allowed others to carry the torch forward.

  1. (Hint: Direct Links to Companies House have been disabled, they all lead to the main website and searchmask)

  2. Alright. Looks like some government website does not understand the concept or “permalink” (or don’t want people to abuse it :)
