On their ticket, they also mention a ’24/7 emergency number’ which may appeal to those of you who want the peace of mind of instant support. If you’re a customer of VPSslim, be sure to leave us a comment below detailing your experience.

They offer a full 7 days money back guarantee and and they offer a 99.99% Uptime guarantee. VPSslim accept payments via Bank transfers, PayPal or iDeal. I signed up yesterday for one of their 1GB plans. Here’s the report of the ServerBear benchmark I ran:
    http://serverbear.com/benchmark/2013/01/02/7svIo6F27ojZcptD
This is on node ‘VPSMAIN015’. Note that it displays 4 cores although the advertisement displays 2 cores. That has been fixed now according to VPSSlim. New clients will get just 2 cores, I was allowed to keep all 4 of them :)

My initial thoughts: Support is fast although the server is a bit sluggish at times, mainly due to high ioping. Network is fast. Not bad for the price.

Lol am I reading this correctly, 2 IPv4 Address on the 128MB VPS plan? now that’s something rare you don’t see as not many hosts offering yearly vps with 2 IPv4 Address since they usually cost $1 per ip

      Hi,

LEB staff corrected this the same day in the offer post. Though the Basic VPS does have 2 IPv4 addresses.

BASIC VPS says it has 2 IPv4 addresses, but it only says 1 included in the shopping cart.

If I select 2 IP address, it adds an extra 24.00 EUR, but using promo code, it still totals to 29.88 EUR.

Do I proceed with that? Also, I tried selecting 3 IP addresses and the total is still 29.88 EUR. You might want to check on that.

    January 4, 2013 @ 2:28 pm | Reply
    • VPSSLIM:

Seems like an error in the shopping cart indeed. You don’t have to select 2 IPv4 addresses these are added without selecting. If you select 3 IP addresses or some kind of control panel as DirectAdmin, then we will make an extra invoice for these addons after your order.

      Thank you.

  16. Just bought a Basic VPS
Not even 30€ for 100GB HDD space and two IPV4 addresses is quite a bargain
    I have two problems though:
I specifically requested the VPS to have Gentoo on it and at first boot it has CentOS. COntrol panel though claims I have Gentoo on tha box which is false.
I already opened a ticket, let’s see how fast they are

Second problem: The second ipv4 IP is not configured
I’ll wait for them to move the box to Gentoo and then I’ll request the second ip

    January 5, 2013 @ 6:30 pm | Reply
    • They **are** fast with tickets
The Gentoo template was not available in the VPS reinstall choices
They downloaded it and made it available

        • Here I am again
@VPSSLIM has had some difficulties in setting up a working Gentoo template, and the one they finally chose is quite outdated and required some extra care on my side to get updated (nothin a seasoned Gentoo user would get scared from though)

On the plus side I still have to stress that their assistance proved to be very fast, polite and (most important) effective

        Hi again,
Just bought another VPS basic; received a link for control panel
        https://vpsmain07.hostslim.nl:5656/
but it does not log in with the given login/password.
I also suspect that there can be 1 ip and 1 core (instead of 2 ips and 2 cores), if it is the case, could you please correct?

        Thanks a lot!

Just ordered one VPS Basic, not more that 10sec after i pressed pay on paypal got an email with the login information.

    Really fast.

But i couldn’t access my VPS control panel, so open a ticket, 10min after a reply with the solution.

Now i´m just missing the extra ipv4 that i will like to change to a ipv6 instead.

    Benchmark:
    dd if=/dev/zero of=test.bin bs=64k count=4k conv=fdatasync
    4096+0 records in
    4096+0 records out
    268435456 bytes (268 MB) copied, 2.28742 s, 117 MB/s

    dd if=/dev/zero of=test.bin bs=64k count=4k oflag=dsync
    917+0 records in
    917+0 records out
    60096512 bytes (60 MB) copied, 32.7416 s, 1.8 MB/s

          Hi,

No you did not break anything. There seemed to be a problem with the IP you had with the routing, and the network install on your OS due to that IP. So you’ve got a new one and we did a re-install for you and the problem has been fixed.

Support is still fast, IPv6 also up, that’s also nice but the I/O Problem is annoying. Huge latency while working via SSH and doing updates, installing packages etc. takes for ever. Although i must say the connection itself is really fast.

      January 16, 2013 @ 4:08 pm | Reply

I can second what @norg says. Support is fast, IPv6 is now up altough the ‘tests’ involved with them setting up IPv6 wasn’t so great. Random time-outs of 15 seconds each at 8PM… Anyway yes the latency is annoying but it’s more ioping related than io-speed. IO speed is good as well as the connection.

I am pretty sure VPSslim offered nice deal – 1GB RAM + 100GB HDD and 1TB band + blazing speed support for 40$ annually. However I do not recommend this VPS for any performance tasks.
This VPS seems to be completly oversold. I am using it for 2+ weeks and I notice significant performance degradation. IO greatly floats from 10MB/s to 100MB/s, CPU is dramaticly dropped. As a result any installation or update may take dozens of minutes. Even SSH has annoying server lags.
My node is VPSMAIN015. Сomparing to this benchmark http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/4083/hostslim-1gb-100gb-1tb-openvz-benchmark performance of my VPS dropped 3-4 x times :

I liked the benchmark that Freek posted, so there is mine http://serverbear.com/benchmark/2013/01/17/FZgT08iKn1PtRDSC (go to first comment to see Freek’s one)

I am on node 016, I don’t know if the 1 vs 2 two cores the unixbench did is only showing a 8% improvement is normal… but network is FAST, and everything worked fine in this first day.

But there are two things i want to ask, like if there have been any improvements on node 015, or if there is any trick under this.

     dd if=/dev/zero of=test.bin bs=64k count=4k conv=fdatasync

My experience is different. Up to now, my support questions where picked up very fast and all my issues have been taken up and were resolved.

Also the price is very good, so is the amount of disk space, the network speed and the allocated processor time.

I also had some problems with disk IO earlier this week. But I think they did add a new node to tackle that problem.

Since yesterday I can no longer complain about the disk IO. The access to the disk is almost always around 0.1 ms and the bandwidth is close to 1 GB/s most of the time. I guess that this will also change when more VPSes are allocated to the new nodes. But for the moment I my VPS is behaving very well.

I must say that the vps worked totally fine to me. And if i got a missing vswap, just sent a ticket and support fixed it in blink of an eye.

But the only thing i’m getting troubles with, is the “full 7 days money back guarantee”. What I expect it’s some kind of confusion, cause paypal and my emails says i’m still under the 7 days, and I’m not really into time traveling.

2 hours remaing till the time limit :/

On top of that VPSSlim replies very fast to tickets and actually solves them :) I didn’t get the second IPv4 and no IPv6 and both were resolved in record time. The same applies to ReverseDNS, they were more than helpfull in setting that up as well! I can only recommend VPSSlim :)

They said in pre-sale question that IPv6 is available (half year and so ago). And then it started…

04/08/2012 22:01 – So should I connect 4 IPv6 addresses to your VPS? Let me know
05/08/2012 14:18 – IPV6 will be available on your VPS in a few hours.
07/08/2012 23:02 – It will be available from tomorrow.
08/08/2012 22:38 – When I hear more from my collegue I’ll let you know.
11/08/2012 09:38 – I’m sorry. I thought my collegue Jordi already assigned this for you.
28/09/2012 17:49 – I’ve just answered your other ticket about this. Again, we’re very sorry for the delay!
    03/10/2012 10:04 – Ipv6 will be added today.
20/12/2012 10:58 – We’re going to deploy new nodes with Ipv6 and will update the other nodes accordingly…
22/01/2013 15:08 – I told you we would offer it :) Unfortunately you did not believe us. How much do you need?
25/01/2013 13:45 – This is a notification to let you know that we are changing the status of your ticket #963848 to Closed
25/01/2013 14:34 – I’m very sorry for the automatic ticket closure. This is not meant to happen and I don’t know why It did. I re-opened your ticket thanks!

And still no IPv6 of course. What a clowns…

      Spirit,

Correction. You have IPv6 right now. We had to update all the nodes with IPv6 addresses and as you were on one of the not IPv6 ready nodes, we had to manual update this and this costed some time to update all nodes.

Thank you for your patience though!

How hard is to be honest with client? You should say half year ago that IPv6 isn’t available yet (and I wouldn’t even bother with this) instead fooling around with “it will be today/tomorrow/how many address do you need” over last half year. I wouldn’t even post here if I would get atleast one serious/valid ticket reponse.

  70. Mr. Pragma:

I just got the “Basic VPS” offered here.

First thing to be said: They are friendly and react more or less quickly.
It seems to be difficult to get the 2nd IPv4 that comes with the package, though.

    The VPS is simply *lousy*.

When I worked on it the connection got interrupted quite often, sometimes after less than 15 min. The system is snail-slow and it’s just a pain in the a** to work on it.

I did, however, not yet cancel my order because Ralph and his colleagues seem to be nice guys and it might well be that the server on which my VPS sits just (or still) experiences difficulties that they guy are working on. It would seem unfair to me to judge a VPS finally after just some hours.

I also got myself a Prometheus 2-pack (KVM 512 MB and VZ0 128MB, see review at their offer) and I can say that the Prometheus 128 MB VZ0 is *by far* better, faster, and way more reliable (at comparable cost to VPSslim offers).

So stay tuned to see how things look once the VPSslim guys had a chance to get their machine working/tuned.

It’s the old tid=157385 from a month ago. Which has been delayed many times to the point that i’m feeling nervous about the money. But this last delay, maybe is my dumbness’s fault, but keep it a secret :P

Sadly the performance and support responses have not been good since day one with this.

I have open four or five cases complaining about performance and I just get emails back saying “is it better now?” and sadly it never is.

Based on this I have requested a refund which I think has been refused, with the reason “we are working on a fix”. I don’t expect much for this money, but it needs to at least work, and quite frankly this doesn’t work.

If they aren’t able to provide at least an ETA to plan towards for a fix, then I don’t think a refund is an unfair request.

    DISAPOINTED VPSSLIM :(

I also can confirm that i’m not really happy with this VPS. I mean it’s 12 bucks a year but a ticket needs now 24hours to answer? IPv6 connectivity is broken since yesterday and it looks like nobody cares about it… rebooting over the control panel works, works not, works, works not and so on… I/O is always under massive pressure and lot more issues….

Let me say, sorry, but no. IPv6 still was broken, no address was added through system boot, even it was in the interfaces config… the long awaiting IPv6 reverse dns was still not set and so on… i say here “was” because i chanceled this VPS today. Hope other enjoy this hoster more then me.

I have the 12€/year service and it works great! There have been some downtimes, but you will receive an email explaining the reasons. There had recently RAM issues and apparently the VPS was down for some hours (I wasn’t using it at the time) and I have even been compensated for the downtime with 3 extra days.

BUT they are clear and radical. Torrent for not-so-legal stuff and your account is immediately suspended. On the other hand, no problem with private proxis (for example to encrypt your data when using a WIFI hotspot), and very high bandwidth.

I do not know the other people, but my support ticket was like a real-time conversation.

Yea, I’m about leave them too. Been almost a year and have been lucky to see up times in the 90 percent. I have two boxes on two nodes and I won’t be renewing.

Slow compared to what?? A high-end Amazon instance? In my experience (half a year with them) and a very occasional (and not very demanding) usage, it goes GREAT for 12€/year (this last part is important! Remember what you are paying!). If you find it slow you might want to consider to upgrade your VPS.

I have no relation with them (just a normal client), but it upsets me how people has unrealisticaly high expectations specially with (ultra)low-cost services. Anything other than a Raspberry Pi in a dial-up modem are making them LOSE money!

Slow compared to what? A snail? even then yes..

And yes folks, you are getting what you are paying for.. Don’t expect much here..

Unrealistically high expectations? Is it high expectations to expect to be able to use it?
