Updated 13 June 2011: XpresServers has
updated its pricing, and a 256MB OpenVZ server is now
$4.95/month, no coupon code needed.
Via this WHT offer. XpresServers is doing a 10% off recurring discount promotion at the moment. Use promo code XSVPS10 at checkout to get the discount. Their “VPS 256” is now $6.26/month with this ordering link. Here’s the spec:
- 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
- 20GB storage
- 750GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
Servers in Amsterdam, Netherlands (test IP: 89.248.167.11). Domain registered to “Hassan Latif” in Pakistan since April this year (who blogs here). Website might look nice but completely unusable due to invalid links. ToS/AUP available here, although it is not specifically for VPS. Both NS on the same server — common fail from leased cPanel box. Previously “guruhost.co” from his WHT offer posts, and it’s already dead despite it has only been launched in February.
Another VPS provider I’ll give a “pass” today.

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
“pass” too… Looking for an XEN low-end box these days XD
Looks like there hosted with Ecatel. And Ecatel is top of the list for badhosts! http://www.ispam.nl/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/top_50_bad_hosts_201003.pdf
Nahhh, and softlayer, singlehop, bluehost, ovh appears too. I think this isn’t a good or bad indicative, it depends
Also, it seems that index must not be read in a “linear” way, read the pdf 😛
Really interesting as there ARE hosts worse than ChinaNet!
Interesting. Google gets 37th.
Ecatel is not that bad even though they have got a bad reputation in the past.
That report is only a year out of date. I know things change quickly on the web but….
There’s a shortened version here:
http://hostexploit.com/downloads/twopager_top_50_bad_hosts_201103.pdf
Ecatel has dropped down to second.
The only thing appealing about this host is the speed I get with the testfile from a few different VPSes.
here is one result:
First of all thanks to LEB admins to consider about my offer and posting it. Few clarifications I want to post here.
1. My website is under construction and we are working on it due to this reason website feels like broken.
2. GuruHost is opened by another person who lives in USA and I worked with him as server administrator and sales person but due to some personal reasons he closed business and I opened my own business.
We are going to offer VPS from SingleHop USA soon where we will offer some nice freebies and cheap cPanel license for VPS which will be $10/mo
Greetings,
We restocked the VPSes in Netherlands with revised prices. Now you can get 128MB in $2.95, 256MB in $4.95, 512MB VPS in $6.95 and 1GB VPS in $9.95 only.
@admin, please update post with revised prices.
