Jimmy from YardVPS emailed me their latest promo code. YARDVPS will get you 20% off recurring discount on their Tree (Xen PV) and Grass (Xen HVM Windows) plans. In the email Jimmy said that it was only 15% (although I just tested out and it said 20% off at checkout), and it’s also only valid for 72 hours — he emailed me 3 days ago. So it might work and it might not — YMMV. “Tree 1” would be $6.36/month after the discount. Direct sign up link here.
- 512MB memory/1024MB swap
- 20GB storage
- 1500GB/month data transfer on 100Mbps
- Xen/SolusVM
Payment available in PayPal, AliPay and credit card. Servers in Los Angeles (test IP: 199.71.213.2). YardVPS/PhotonVPS/Psychz Networks — they have certainly been around for a while, although with YardVPS you really get what you have paid for, i.e. most definitely unmanaged. Seems to have quite a few problems before. Just pick any previous offer posts and you’ll see them filled with generally negative comments. I might have been lucky, and had no problem with their Xen VPS when the plans first came out last November (only used for 2 months though).
They claim to have good connectivity to Asia Pacific. That could be a good thing, but could be the bane as well (with lots of customers across the Pacific taking over the bandwidth).

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
No comments? Seriously? I bet people are scared off from the negative posts in the previous threads. Plus the price reminds me of BurstNET Windows 512MB VPS, its the same.
I really don’t know why people don’t like YardVPS. I have a VPS with them (512MB/Xen) since Nov/2010 (the same offer LEA cited on the post – almost a year) and it has 40 days of uptime because I’ve updated the kernel in june.
Their support is not the fastest, but the only two or three network downtimes I’ve experienced in the past nine months was solved in 12 hours or less.
Their support is non existent and management refuses to follow up on concerns and complaints. There’s also the question of how they operate their business and operate it in an illegal manner.
i have a server with both yard and photon
yard is openvz and i have had it for a longtime, and photon is xen and the clubuptime replacement, so it’s a more recent experience
i am very happy with both
It’s supposed to be 20% recurring for monthly payment cycles and 15% for quarterly and longer.
I’ll extend this coupon for another 48 hours!
Hello, I am user for PhotonVPS,
can i apply this 20% to my payment cycles.
My account will expired soon.
This coupon is only available at YardVPS, but has expired already.
Can you extend this coupon for another 24 hours now ?
We’ll probably have another coupon within 2 weeks or so. Just follow us on Twitter/Facebook for the latest specials!
Got a GRASS, and its been 25 + Mins, still the status is pending…. no information about what the IP or anything, how much long do they take.. when they have mentioned on their website, instant setup…
Last time I tried they do have instant activation. Maybe you are connecting from a location where they consider high level of fraud, which means it would revert back to manual activation?
Ok, still there should be some info or email from their side, after taking payment all they are silent, i even signed up a ticket and still there is no response, now can i consider this fraud from their side…?
There was hiccup causing the automation process to fail. SolusVM got it resolved for us and it’s back on track!
Sorry for the delay guys!
I’ve had a horrible experience with them so far. I’ve had the VPS for over a week now, and every few minutes it loses IPv4 connectivity – the VPS is unable to contact it’s local gateway. They go days without answering support tickets only to have ‘Jimmy Lu’ respond and say they need a traceroute (from the VPS to it’s gateway).
The box is utterly useless to me, and the ticketing system will no longer allow me to put further info in the ticket.
coupon not vaild, too bad will have to buy elsewhere :/
