Julie from Czech Republic based NQHost emailed me about their exclusive offer for LowEndBox readers. Using this ordering link here, you can get their “Low Cost VPS” for $6.95/month.
- 256MB memory
- 8GB storage
- Unmetered bandwidth
- Xen
Reason for the promotion is because they have some servers with full disk but free RAM. Servers are in Germany and from their Datacenters page they are in “Falkenstein, Saxony and Frankfurt am Main”. Their website is hosted in Hetzner though. Xen would be PV in this case, and HVM would be a $2 extra (which would be over our $7/month threshold).

I like their web design. BTW, it seems that the offer can also be found on their homepage with US servers.
Yes, the offer the same on WHT too. Could have been more popular with an Exclusive LEB offer. Hope Julie reads this comment and put this suggestion to higher management.
Irc explicitly allowed, which is decent of them, but unmetered BW offers always put me off, especially at such a low price.
Then I read this on WHT:
“Special WHT discount code: WHT25 – 25% first month off.
Our nodes have 1Gbit port and we don’t host more than 10-15 containers on each node. We use only brand-name hardware and RAID-storages.
All our services are unmanaged and have unmetered traffic.”
A gbit port shared between 15 people sounds good, but I guess it depends how those 15 users are. There’s enough bandwidth to go round, but 15 people’s disk IO on a gbit box…
Too bad they only provided test IPs, not test files. :(
Still, for $5.25 for the first month perhaps it’s worth a punt.
Hi All,
Please note that this one is really special offer for LowEndBox readers. In this offer, the RAM size is 256MB comparing to 128MB for “normal” low-cost tariffs.
Thank you.
Hi Julie, good to see a provider who gives an offer to LEB users who actually comes onto the site to answer questions. :)
Any chance of a speed test file for one of the .de nodes? I want to see how it performs to a few of my other boxes.
Yup this is LowEndBox exclusive. And I do not think there is US node for this offer either.
Ah ok, the 25% discount doesn’t work on this, I didn’t think to check it. Still a good price. A saving of $6/month, albeit sacrificing 8GB of drivespace. I’m sure 8GB is more than enough for 99% of people though.
No swap space?
@drmike swap size is 258MB as well
@ I will be buy this one if they will offer 512MB Ram anytime… HDD Space 5GB, enough for me.
They seem like decent people, ask sales if they’ll do you a custom package.
Another host with German data centers :P Looks like some great deals though, and great plans for vps.
@Omio you can ask sales team for your own quota. Thank you.
Ok, XVPS seem useless and don’t seem to care whether they get customers or not (LEB exclusive discount code, but won’t answer questions here?), NQHost I’ve heard good things about and they actually respond to customers. I’ll order this afternoon and give them a shot. Good to see companies who actually give a damn about customers.
If XVPS are this lazy when they’re trying to get my money, how bad will they be once they have it? :/
No luck with NQhost for me, since they accept paypal through 2co and use 2co’s “fraud check” even for paypal payments. Failure to pass it results in cancellation of the order. And, IMHO, 2co’s fraud prevention system is not what you should use for selling virtual or dedicated servers.
Ordering went smoothly, took 10.5 hrs from order to delivery.
Speeds:
Individual VPS have 100mbit ports (I misunderstood their post on WHT), and it seems that they’ll happily do 100mbps when fed from a well-routed/peered source. :)
Why do you fail 2CO’s fraud check? If there’s an unavoidable reason and you’re a legitimate customer, there are other payment methods.
8GB disk storage…
@Michael,
We are sorry for any inconvenience you may have with 2checkout payment gateway, but we have to use them because of many fraud/illegal payments through direct PayPal.
So, how does the fraud protection work?
2co.com will never tell about their methods. If there is some difference between IP address location and billing address, they may call to customer for additional details.
@Julie: Paypal does that too. Had the problem in July. I’m located in Belgium, my address is also in Belgium. Was on holiday in France and wanted to pay some invoices via Paypal. Was simply impossible. Once back in Belgium everything worked again. And when I asked paypal about it they told me that “it could not just be that”, right….
@Julie Actually, thats exactly what I was talking about. Do you realise that a lot of people use VPN nowadays?
I use the same low cost dedicated box as a VPN server for like 6 years, and I even created my paypal account through it. 2co won’t care that my account is verified&my address is confirmed. They just see that the IP belongs to a hosting company – and cancel the order. And contrary to what you say, they never called me to verify anything.
Why not just order it without using the VPN?
Why would 2CO care if your account is verified and your address is confirmed? They won’t be shipping anything to you. It’s an intangible product, which is great for phishers, since they don’t risk being caught when collecting the delivered carded goods.
do you allow proxy websites on your vps?
@Gary As I already mentioned, my paypal account was created and used from the single IP all these years, mostly for security and to prevent paypal locking my account if I need to do some business during travel. I won’t change that because of 2co’s weird fraud protection policies.
And don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to make NQHost accept paypal from me directly or anything, just expressing my opinion.
> Itβs an intangible product, which is great for phishers
Seems to be a valid point, but you know what? With all those virtual and dedicated servers I rent or own, this is actually only the second time my order got cancelled.
@zx123, no, we don’t allow public proxy sites.
I wish this was a sub $5 offer, I need a CDN.
@Asim what is your personal email? And did you benchmark about cit*net…. EG vps? Personally want to know they are suddenly come with very simple site and rocking with lowest cost around, will I buy from those??
$Julie I need 1GB storage (Max 50-60GB B/W per mo), but need 512MB ram **within this price**, can you offer these? If so I will send you mail with this custom plan… Please inform me.
@Omio Can’t paste my personal email address here so why not you contact me via my blog?

Also just posted City* benchmark on its own thread here

In my opinion, you cannot compare a quality host with City* since they are low-end budget vpses
@Asim Thanks Asim, I’m trying to connect with you shortly.
Thank you,
I buy one of this for my Asterisk and work great!
