Nick from BHost emailed me their latest promo code for LowEndBox readers. It is a couple percentage more than their March offer. Use promo code LOWENDBOXAPRIL2011 to get 24% off recurring discount. That brings down the price of their “Bronze” plan to £3.72/month (+VAT for those in UK/EU).
- 512MB guaranteed/1024MB burstable memory
- 20GB storage
- 1000GB/month data transfer on 100Mbps
- OpenVZ
Servers with RapidSwitch in UK. Pretty positive reviews from previous posts, and they are an experienced provider since 2002.
Nick is also adding an extra offer if you pay annually — a free .com, .net, .org or .uk domain. You need to sign up this month and pay for a year to be eligible, and claim through raising a support ticket.

LOL looks well
Can’t say anything bad about BHost, one of the best VPS I got. Unlike some other providers who say their connections are on 100mbps (and you only get 6mbps down) BHost actually get around 90mbps down.
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1244524386.png
They also sent me a free USB Stick, which I can’t complain about. (It even lights up at the end :) )
My mouse finger is getting itchy again, not a good sign! Closing browser…
You know you want to do it :)
They even offer 24 hour sales & support: 0800 043 4678 (UK) | 650-870-4840 (USA)
Don’t push me Adam, you know I can’t resist :)
go for it it was 1 time for life for this offer. cmon scratch your hand
Speedtest.net is not a valid measurement for pretty much anything. Flash is slow. Donated servers are slow.
speedtest.net is fine. Have you not considered it may be your connection…..
*shrug* Better than nothing. :)
I want a flashy USB stick. I get a couple of local clients asking for sticks every week and I;m going through them like crazy.
Did I tell you the stick is purple and metal.
Like I said, better than nothing. Folks need them to keep their resumes and other job search stuff.
What do you mean donated servers.
Oh sorry I get, that company donate their servers to speedtest, sorry.
Ab, no clue, so be quiet. Donated servers are no slower. Http packets travelling over internet don’t know if they end up in flash or in whatever. Retard.
Seems like a great deal for a UK based VPS with a company with a good rep!
Test ip?
Try these IPs:
109.169.46.15
78.129.251.251
Not bad.

2 17 ms 17 ms 17 ms XXX.169.XXX.XXX
3 19 ms 21 ms 20 ms uk-cr01-sw03.bhost.net [87.117.212.82]
4 27 ms 26 ms 22 ms 109.169.46.15
Trace complete.
They are like most other UK VPS hosts located in the Datacenter owned by ThrustVPS/DamnVPS > RapidSwitch in UK
Just ping/trace ThrustVPS :)
Anyone that have their servers in Maidenhead, UK are most likely in that DC
I don’t think BHost overload like Thrust.

West Coast connectivity to Europe is crap.
anyway it is what is it.
“All sales are subject to United Kingdom Value Added Tax (VAT), even if you are based outside the United Kingdom or European Union.”
WHY?
This info is out of date, apologies. You only pay VAT if you’re in the European Union.
and even that is not 100% correct…if you have a VAT number and are in the EU you don’t have to pay the VAT either…
This is even not close to the true too. If you are in the EU you HAVE to pay VAT.
Then explain why I never pay vat if I provide my EU VAT number(and am NOT within the same country as the vendor)?
I like this one so bad specially the location :)
@dirk: I don’t know where you are living but I’m in the Europe, Bulgaria, and when it is subject to VAY and EU deals – I’m paying it. I have VAT nimber with my company and there is NO VAT free deal. Or I don’t know how to avoid VAT payment.
I’m living in Belgium and when I order in the EU (outside of Belgium) and provide my VAT number then I don’t pay the VAT.
I have several VPSes in Europe (Netherlands, Sweden, UK) and from European companies and once I provide them my VAT number I do not have to pay VAT.
I have ordered today new VPS with BHost. There is no VAT field :) So, I’ve paid 20% VAT.
To BHost member which may read my comment:
I have ordered YOUR Gold VPS Plan with 3IP’s + I have ordered 3 more IP’s. So, after a fast provsioning I have VPS with ONLY one IP. What’s going on???
(5 hours no answer over tickets)
I’m replying to myself just to say: BHost are my future VPS provider! I’ve got what I pay – my 6 IP’s and everything is OK.
So, If someone is interested abput BHost VPS service:
1. Speed is OK in both directions.
2. I/O wait states are OK
3. Overall performance is more than good.
Go and get this PROMO!
They only have RAID1 based disk, Can you do a disk benchmark and give us the output?

Ive been running with a gold package from bHost for a few months now and im still very pleased. Nick is very helpful and always responds quickly to my questions. I was running a bronze server as well for awhile to do some testing and that was great too. Cant go wrong for the price and the recurring discount!
Signed up for the Gold package. Using promo code it worked out at £8.11. Server is quick and responsive. Control panel works flawlessly. Provisioned in a few minutes. This is a great deal for a UK location.
Update after a month of usage:
1. First month was more than OK
2. Second month starts with immediate network issues: slow connectivity and irresponsible box.
3. The funny part is status update “everything fixed”, but still waiting to exchange unreliable network hardware.
4. Few hours no ticket respond, ok, they are at hard work to exchange hardware but… still nothing…
5. Will see tomorrow -will they return to the service from the first month.
Again replying to myself: Network issue fixed asap. So the VPS is acessible again with max speed of 100 mbps. I’m more than satisfied with this service. Next review – next month :) Steliyan
In the last week, my VPS experience has been terrible.
The network is fast, however the VPS itself is terribly slow, heres the time it took to install mysql-server (55kbps) on a clean debian install.
