I have been hesitant to post offers from BuffaloVPS — they were simply reselling ChicagoVPS‘s products. Now Adam from BuffaloVPS has got back to me that they have now moved to their own boxes. Still within ColoCrossing in Chicago IL though, and it seems we are still waiting for their Buffalo location. This is the new offer from them — use promo code stan to get “Standard” OpenVZ VPS plan for $5.75/month. Sign up link here. If you use annual billing, it would be $63/year when you use promo code stanyr.
- 512MB memory
- 20GB storage
- 1000GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
You can find their AUP here with their list of “offensive content” that should not be hosted on their servers. You can also check past comments from BuffaloVPS and ChicagoVPS if you are looking for reviews and performance benchmark.

Wow, they require registration over at abuse.net. Never seen that before with a host.
I have to wonder how many clients go through with that.
Gotta admit that I’m thinking about that now.
Abuse.net? What would this do to help them to cut down fraud?
What does the site do? Someone explain for me please :)
Im still confused what this has to do with BuffaloVPS :-P

You’re the one who brought it up in your AUP :P
@Ixape: It’s just a well-known database to allow spam recipients to lookup the preferred abuse contact address for a domain, instead of having to try to google for it or try random, possibly non-existant addresses like abuse@ or postmaster@. BuffaloVPS’s AUP says they require you to register your abuse contact address with abuse.net before they’ll even consider giving you permission to send out Bulk Commercial E-Mail from their service, or from anywhere else advertising a site hosted on their service.
@fanovpn: Make sense, thanks for the explanation.
Now who wrote that AUP? :D
. . .and I doubt it’s enforcement. . .
Hello,
I actually did not write this, as it is the same as ChicagoVPS AUP. I am sorry for the misunderstanding, and I guess we all learn a little everyday.
However, I have not come across anyone wanting to send bulk email, so when this does happen I now know what to do :)
Thanks for the learning experience everyone!
Thanks,
Adam
I don’t understand why you would need to copy ChicagoVPS’s AUP?
So…
“they were simply reselling ChicagoVPS‘s products. Now Adam from BuffaloVPS has got back to me that they have now moved to their own boxes”
If that doesn’t explain the situation then I will shoot me.
Same servers, same AUP. They were reselling and using the same, now probably they will modify that legal docs.
@Adam – Really should be reading the ToS of your products.
any test ip? and is it ipv6 available?

Thanks,

I do not have a vps with them but I can say this – Chris was very friendly over live chat.
Submitted a sales to Buffalo VPS and had the same Chris from Chicago VPS reply to me – Same company behind this?
Hello,
Adam is away on vacation, so I told him I would hold the fort for him.
Regards,
Chris
Yes, Chris is right and this is why I fell in love with ChicagoVPS. They will bend over backwards for any of their clients!
Thanks,
Adam
