Mike from Evolution Host contacted us with an opportunity for the community to obtain a free VPS from his firm.
This offer is being made to celebrate the launching of their FiveM Anti-DDoS solution. These are not first come, first serve but rather are provisioned based on an application process.
Here’s a bit more info from Evolution Host:
Evolution Host are celebrating the launch of our brand new product by giving away up to 50 VPS free of charge. FiveM servers are often targeted by various DDoS attacks that are not currently mitigated by any hosting company. Evolution Host has recently launched a FiveM Anti-DDoS solution that blocks absolutely every known DDoS attack. To mark the occasion, we saw it fitting to give away a bunch of enterprise grade VPS, free of charge – to those with a relatively popular website or a large social following.
There is no exact criteria to make you eligible for the offer but a good start would be a ranking of at least 25 on https://moz.com/free-seo-tools or a social following of 5k+. We would recommend everyone who is interested apply as we may have an alternate offer available if you don’t meet the criteria required for the largest specification VPS.
The relevancy of the applicants site will also be taken into consideration. No pornographic content, war mongering content or anything that breaches our terms of service will be accepted.
These VPSes are permanently free with no other costs. They do request a backlink or some sort of co-promotional arrangement depending on the site/social account that you apply with. And naturally, you must obey their terms of service.
Evolution Host has been in business since 2013 and was formerly registered as evolutionhost.co.uk.
Here’s the specs on these VPSes:
- 8 CPU Cores at 4Ghz+- 16GB DDR4 RAM
- 200GB SSD or 500GB HDD
- 1Gb/s Port
- 100TB Monthly Transfer
- Advanced DDoS Protection
- Linux or Windows
- Europe/US Locations

What makes Evolution Host VPS hosting different?
Experience, dedication, reliability & innovation. Since inception, Evolution Host has continued to evolve our product line to meet the emerging demands of the hosting market.
We offer 100% dedicated KVM resources – if you pay for 16GB of RAM, that 16GB is yours and is not shared with any other client. We do not opt for CPUs with dozens of slow threads and pack as many clients as we can onto the node. Our CPU frequencies reach as high as 5Ghz and our nodes are never over-loaded or over-sold.
Innovation is our forte and we have proved this time and time again, one example of that is by being the first hosting provider to combine VPS hosting with Game Server Hosting, birthing our Gaming VPS product.
We have become known for our ability to mitigate even the most complex of DDoS attacks. With the recent launch of our FiveM DDoS Protection product we have brought our DDoS protection to a new audience. Due to popular demand, we are also now able to offer Remote DDoS Protection to anyone who needs it, for pretty much any application/game server.
We are seasoned veterans in the KVM VPS Hosting game and will continue to introduce new technologies and products to our clients.

Hey nocloo,
We’re delighted to be able to provide some people from the LEB community with a high-spec DDoS protected VPS during these trying times!
Just wanted to leave a quick update with my experience:
Got a free VPS in return for a backlink in my open source project, and was very happy with the VPS.
However, the VPS was terminated as I did not add reviews on 6 different review sites.
I was told reviews need to be different per site and need to be re-done every 3-6 months. This requirement was not communicated anywhere until I inquired about a 10 euro recurring monthly fee that appeared on my account.
Hey mfur,
Thanks for the feedback.
I’m fairly confident I’m aware of the specific case you’re referring to as only one of our sponsored clients has had any complaints in this regard.
To clarify, according to our account records, your website did not meet the criteria for any package specification. In this situation, occasionally we compromise by granting clients with a free server in the hopes that they will be kind enough to share a review of their experience using the KVM VPS. Typically in this situation, the backlink is simply not valuable enough to be eligible for any of our VPS hosting packages. Our sponsored clients who meet the criteria of not having a popular website are typically happy to post a review of their experience using the server, as they appreciate that they are receiving the server free of charge.
We apologize if this has inconvenienced you, however you must understand that we would quickly go out of business if we were to grant free servers to everyone who asked and received nothing of value in return. We are of the strong belief that the quality of our service, which is provided free of charge, is worth 5 minutes of your time.
Thank you for your feedback mfur, it’s certainly appreciated.
Hi Mike,
I was told by you that I _was_ eligible for an enterprise package. Your email states:
“I can confirm that your site would be eligible for the Enterprise VPS package if the following criteria is met: A brief mention of Evolution Host is included in the main content of the page.”
I added the backlink as requested, was told it was fine, and the VPS was set up.
Only when the recurring charge was added to the account, was I told that I also needed to add reviews every 3 months. There was never any mention of the backlink being insufficient, nor was I ever told the website did not meet the criteria for any package. Your comment here is the first I have heard of that.
I understand you are running a business, but this seems like a bit of a bait-and-switch that might harm developers, so wanted to let others be aware, before they spend time switching over project infrastructure.
Hey mfur,
That certainly sounds like there might be some sort of mistake.
We would never offer a sponsored client the Enterprise package as well as request reviews. As this is one of our larger packages, it certainly wouldn’t meet the criteria that you’re referring to here.
I believe some sort of mistake may have occurred here, would you mind reaching out to us directly via your registered account E-mail address? I can then figure out exactly what happened here.
Thank you in advance.
A perfect case of bait and switch – applied and after meeting the criteria for a backlink – got approved for a developer plan VPS. After less than a month received a message that my plan is up for renewal and was due 10 Euro or it will be cancelled. I inquired why is this case when I got approved for a free plan and got a response – quote: “…If you can get a quick follow up review posted on the following sites we can get your server renewed for a further 3 months…” and then a list of 5 sites. Nothing of the sort was mentioned upon my approval and makes me wonder what will happen after another 3 months. Will I be able to meet whatever else they come up with as a criteria. I will for sure follow up with reviews – to let people know to steer clear.
Hello,
Thanks for your feedback.
You may want to refer to the previous comment thread.
You would fall under the same criteria mentioned above.
It’s rare we have anybody complain about this, 99% of people are happy with their free high performance VPS and deem it worthy of a few minutes of their time every 3 – 6 months to post a review of their experience using the server.
We’re sorry you don’t feel this way.
Thank you for your feedback.
That criteria has never been shared with me. So I get a notice about “service due for renewal in 3 days” requesting a payment or service cancelation. Only upon inquiry via email I am given “opportunity” and even in that email the details were scarce. So I had to come back here and read the comments to find some further clues that apparently my backlink is of insufficient value to you. I imagine there could be people caught scrambling and thinking – what do I do – can I really move my service in 3 days or shall I just accept the new terms for another few months.
The complain here is not being upfront and about changing your eligibility criteria without even extending the curtesy of notification. If you want to be trusted – keep your word and share all details with your clients at the beginning.
Hello,
Admittedly, the initial E-mail you receive regarding the expiration of the server is not ideal and can be misleading. This can certainly be improved however this is merely a technical default. Our renewal system currently has no understanding of when someone is under a sponsorship agreement or not – if their server is due to expire, it is deemed a renewal must be made. I’ll get onto the development team about improving this to make things clearer.
Additionally, despite only a minuscule percentage of people seeming to have a problem with posting a review of their FREE server – I will be sure that any future postings do include a mention of a genuine review being requested for websites that don’t have any SEO value.
I must stress, the alternative to this would be to straight out reject your application for a free server. I’m sure you wouldn’t of preferred that at the time.
Either way, thank you for your feedback.
Ordered a paid vps from Evolution and nearly ordered another. I say nearly as this vps is so reliable, our services are generally self maintaining, that I actually forgot it was even running.
Hey John,
That’s great to hear!
We’re delighted to hear you’re enjoying our servers and we certainly appreciate you taking the time to let everyone know :)
I haven’t seen a request being replied, not sure if this is active or not
