Daniel, from BandwagonHost, has sent in his first ever offer for the LowEndBox community.
Basic VPS 5G
|
Although BandwagonHost is a fairly new service, Daniel has informed us that they were previously known as “eomy.net”. Since then they have been in business for 9 years and are a registered Canadian corporation. They have developed their own VPS control panel (KiwiVM) and all VPS node management software is also developed in-house. Their servers have the Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5620 @ 2.40GHz, 48 GB ECC RAM and 4x ST3600057SS hard drives in RAID-10. If you sign up, please do let us know how the server performs!
BandwagonHost accepts payments only via PayPal for now. They provide a full 30 day no questions asked money back guarantee. Unfortunately they do not currently have a website, just the ordering system. Their TOS states that spamming, hacking, malware, IRC, open proxies, adult content is not allowed however VPN or proxy is fine as long as they are password protected.

Was going to sign up, but they don’t even seem to have a website. Or SSL on their cart. Too bad.
Was more interested in their 1gb product too, but the coupon code doesn’t seem to work for that one.
This has been fixed – thanks for the heads up.
Remind me about this one
I always interested with their KiwiVM panel :)
And also this is another brand of VPSBlast?
VPS Blast is our brand too. IT7 Networks Inc is the company behind these brands. In the past we were concentrated solely on the Eastern European market. VPS Blast and Bandwagon Host projects are rather new, however, we’ve been doing this since 2004, so we have quite a bit of experience.
KiwiVM is indeed the control panel we use, it was developed by us from scratch back when SolusVM did not exist yet :)
No website. Never heard of them or eomy.net. Drew me in with custom panel. I like seeing other people’s work. Count me in.
PayPal said it was IT7 networks. I assume that is who is behind the operation rather than who hosts the servers, as I personally thought was implied in the post. No worries, just a note for anyone reading.
Not bad at all. Here’s some goodies.

Panel looks OK – nothing fancy, but I like something that just gives you the options you need without getting in your way, as this panel seems to do.
It is beautiful for that very reason
I lol’d:

I hope they don’t have to reference that KB article too much.
No SSL on your order form or your ‘secure’ client login? Come on…
Very few people actually care about it. We did all kinds of experiments on our websites throughout the years, and SSL is one of those things that does not actually impact the number of new orders received.
What seems to (negatively) impact new orders is an expired SSL certificate :-)
You are trying to justify not having an SSL on the basis of usability? And you have trouble keeping an SSL certificate up to date? (an annual task)
Thank you for educating me about SSL… There are many things that make webhosting provider a successful one, and having an SSL certificate is not very high on that list. That is what I am trying to say.
What does it matter whether they have SSL or not, as long as you’re actually paying through Paypal, and the latter are the only people privy to your financial details? If they were directly asking for credit card information, I might be worried.
Here’s why it matters: Login encryption. I can’t login to your website on public wifi unless I’m stupid, which you can be sure most people are. By logging into WHMCS, I can log into my VPS control panel and from there I have no limitations as to what I can do to my VPS.
That’s true. I’ve never used the vps control options from whcms and had forgotten about them.
This has gotten to be the most stupid and narrow-minded reply from someone who supposedly has been in business for 9 years.
I lol’d
This may look stupid to you, but we prefer to concentrate on what is actually important. SSL does not help to stay in business. SSL does not help delivering good service. SSL does not help keep servers running with minimal downtime.
If you feel better using a web host with an SSL cert I have no problem with that at all. It does not make my reply stupid though.
So, delivering the services to the end user in a safe and secure manner is not important to you? I think you are underestimating your customers and assuming they are idiots. If encryption does not help your servers running with minimal downtime, perhaps you should replace SSH with Telnet ;)
Dan, a Positive SSL can be bought for $3/year.
Where can I buy a SSL cert for $3/year?
Thank you very much, really!
Please tell me you’re not being serious.
If you believe the only reason to set up SSL is to “increase sales”, rather than something as basic and vital as keeping your customers safe… you do not deserve to be in business.
Where exactly have I said you need SSL to increase sales?
Why is your only concern increasing sales? None for client safety? You don’t care if our passwords pass in plain text from point to point? Sales is the only potential concern? Can’t waste $15/year caring about your clients? Maybe I’ll ask for that refund on principle.
Well, you could for example start reading this bit.
I have removed the word ‘secure’ from the link (it was a default WHMCS wording).
No SSL. Makes me want to buy a server on the network just to man in the middle paypals/credit cards. Anyone entering payment information into a host with no SSL is an idiot. If even one server that takes payments is located in the USA this is also illegal.
Payments are processed by Paypal over SSL, of course. What you are describing is impossible on our network.
Payments… but you’d still be able to login to WHMCS… and if your server control panel logins are also not encrypted then login to that too -> get root access to server.

I assume TUN/TAP ready since they said they allow VPN?
Yes, all VPS come with tun/tap already activated.
Wow WHT promo with -50% off yearly payment still valid. Think is cheapest 512/1024 yearly for now on the market ;)
What’s the bet they’ll go bust soon.
Thank you for your support! :)
Hello, please can you tell me if I can use this service to host a virtual PBX?
How can I check the latency?
We have customers running asterisk, however, I am not aware of the details. Feel free to try us; we have 30-day money back policy.
How can y’all stay in business charging $10/year for a VPS like this?
Also, would it be possible to buy two of these and merge the resources?
Yes, even if I worry about how cheap it is, I still want it.
Couple more questions: Looking at the ASN for IT7 networks (AS25820), it seems the IPs are geolocated to Canada. Wha..? Also, no IPv6 prefixes, any chance of seeing some of those any time?
I am not sure why it shows Canada. We have submitted a correction request to Maxmind several days ago, so we will have to wait for it to be fixed.
We are working on ipv6, but for now I have no firm ETA.
On MaxMind.com GeoIP-demo already detect 198.35.46.2 as USA, but the “Note: These results are generated using our pre-release GeoIP2 database and may differ slightly from the results provided by our current databases and web services.”
Sorry, merging two VPS is not something we can do at the moment. But you can always upgrade to a better package (the promotion code will stick).
I can certainly agree with jarland’s point on SSL when you are logging in from public places. It is actually possible to log into KiwiVM panel via SSL (although the cert is a self-signed one). Use this link: http://176.9.215.60/ and click “Use secure connection”.
In the meantime, I will be installing a certificate.
Before has bought, not bad.
SSL has been installed. Since there was an IP address change, it may take up to 4 hours for this to start working for everyone (old IP is proxied, but SSL connections are not). We will “force” SSL for all visitors later today.
You’ll want to change in the page source to , so that the stylesheets work properly for HTTPS-using visitors.
Could you please give me some more details on this? I have tested the website in 4 different browsers but I do not see any issues at all. Thanks
Looks like a great price.
Appears to be a single homed HE-only network.
It is single-homed indeed, however, we are working on adding PNAP blend.
I have a few issues with this:
*Owner doesnt think SSL are important, only implemented them because of all the complaining in here
*Said he contacted maxmind about why HIS ips for HIS VPS are gelocated to canada. IDK maybe because that is what the WHOIS info says – http://bgp.he.net/AS25820#_whois
*Was running their website on a cpanel node with a shared IP, wasnt even dedicated until they needed the SSL
*Removed the word secure from their WHMCS because you know without the SSL it isnt secure
Keep you the good work!
Eh, quit whining. I’m sure every provider here has some dirt on them, especially during the starting period. Give them a chance..
Hi,
Addressing your points:
1) Not because of complaining, but because jarland mentioned a valid point about logging in from a public place.
2) Whois has little to do with GeoIP location, but I can understand why Maxmind would default it to the whois data – the IP subnet we are currently using is rather fresh.
3) Why exactly having a shared IP for main website is a bad thing?
4) What would be a better way to address that?
Thanks

What’s up with the CPU power saving? 600Mhz Vrroooom.
OpenVZ kernel does not show you the speed of the actual core “assigned” to your VPS (basically because there is no firm relationship between a VPS and specific cores). What you are seeing is the speed of “one of the cores”. Try running a benchmark and you will see that the full CPU speed is available when needed.
TUN/TAP are allowed?
Of course allowed. ” however VPN or proxy is fine as long as they are password protected.
“
Working great no problems with them :)
Very cheap & good service
I ordered their $10/yr ($9.99) VPS deal. Setup was instant. Network speed is very impressive. I didn’t do actual speed tests in order to record the numbers, just dl’d some rpms and dl speeds was was impressed. I ended up cancelling soon afterwards, not because of anything necessarily bad, but it ended up not fitting my particular need that I had. Got a reply from Dan shortly after submitting the cancellation ticket and got a refund. So I give this provider a big thumbs up and would not hesitate to buy services from again with on of their bigger/beefier plans.
OH…
Jarland you really need to fk off.
Stop misinterpreting someone else’s words. It the cheapest form of discussion.
No. If you want to talk to me, address me like an adult. There were 0 misinterpretations.
I might be a 70th person to post a comment here, but I’m just gona kill you all.

I signed up for a box and i will say awesome for the price and their kiwivm does the job for what i have tried so far

I don’t care if you buy and get scammed or not, actually I don’t. I’m just posting this for people who read and for the laughs of another hello kitty host that we got for today.
And since this is internet, I’m not a fool to not know how to make a screenshot because kiddy will clean up the trace, sadly, he didn’t even do it properly.
http://i.imgur.com/EmLw8t7.png
I can confirm that the code was there and I also saved a copy for fun. I don’t much care, but it was definitely there.
So what was wrong with that code exactly?
As that link created so much butthurt of course I removed it. Not sure why you think it is so important, especially if it was commented out. You would probably have exploded if that link was active, right? Beware – lowendbox.com also shows banners and they are active (not commented out!). OMG SCAM!!!11
Sorry, can’t stop enjoying this. Just wondering how far can this nonsense go.
On a serious note, we were displaying their banner back in 2009, but then commented it out when the agreement was over. Now I have removed it because you created a whole scam story out of a commented out banner… Congratulations, you have achieved something in your life.
Wait, I have just realized that you actually have a VPS with us (no conspiracy – it is in the screenshot). Why exactly are you not asking for a refund? I do not understand the logic.
So @Dan, Welcome to the strange LowEndWorld. Funny thing he forgot to hide his server IP.
@peppr: LEB is an interesting place indeed, and I like it! :)
@Dan Hop in to LowEndtalk.com and look for surprises everyday !!!
Dan, I believe his accusation was that the code was stolen and you just commented out their code. Although this particular code does not necessarily imply it, in my opinion. I saved a copy after the accusation, in case it actually did mean something, as LowEndBox has always been known to attract liars and scammers. But… nothing negative actually there from my point of view.
I have a lot of VPS with LEB hosts and I had a ton of them with scammers as well. Raskazi mne istoriju kak ti ziviosh v ca gde ti pisal etu samapisnuju panel, i kak vnejo ti psheshskij jazik daze umudrilsia zasunut, nx bi ti eto delal?

hello Dan, this IRC allowed on your servers?
thanks
Bandwagonhost.com – big liars. Although I paid a year in advance, they did not let me to work. Constantly the server was shut down, supposedly he is spamming. Although the server was switched off. They mosheniki.
Ive been with these guys for a couple of years now and have had excellent response for tickets and uptime. It’s been running my iRedMail like a champ. I have nothing but praise for Bandwagonhost.
Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you
know a few of the pictures aren’t loading properly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.
I’ve tried it in two different web browsers and both show the same outcome.
I used eomy many years – without problems
