Update (1/26/2014): QuickPacket offer added.
Ladies and gentlemen: the moment has come! The votes have been counted, the results have been checked, and the winners have sent in the offers. The results for the Top Provider Poll 2013-Q4 are finally here!
First of all, let me all thank you very much for voting! The quarterly provider poll is a fun event in which we can all show some appreciation to the hosts we like the most. It’s been an on-going tradition and it always brings me great joy that so many of you vote. So, thank you again!
This poll was different than the last ones. Previously, you got to pick a number 1, number 2, and number 3 provider. These providers were awarded points accordingly: each number 1 vote earned the provider 3 points, each number 2 vote earned the provider 2 points, and each number 3 vote earned the provider 1 point. Unfair, thought I. You should be able to divide those points yourself! Because of that, each member got 5 votes to distribute amongst providers as they wished. Basically like dot-voting without the stickies and the whiteboard. Some gave a provider 5 points, others distributed them amongst providers. All in all, a nice, flexible, and honest system. I’m going to continue with this in the future!
So, on to the results. By popular demand, I have listed the top 10 right here! Most of the hosts have sent in a special offers to share their love with the LowEndCommunity. Enjoy these offers while you can, because some are limited either by quantity or by duration!
And the winner is…
1. RamNode (243 votes)
RamNode wins another Top Provider Poll. Nick and his team have been running a stable business for a while now and have continued to do so the last quarter. Congratulations to all the winners!
Congratulations for all the top :)
I just realized that dotvps were purchased by Oktay. Congratulations, and I hope the service could stay the same, or maybe better :)
Congratulations to all the providers mentioned above
congratulations to all the providers !
in my opinion,
1st digitalocean,
2nd prometeus,
3rd quickpacket
NO DO!
I’m having trouble with DigitalOcean. The only way they communicate the randomly-generated root password is through email, but the emails take 25+ minutes to arrive!
They have a facility for installing ssh keys for root when provisioning the VPS, but that simply isn’t working. The /root/.ssh/authorized_keys file is created, but only contains a single character.
I believe that this service will work fine once the installs are done, but while setting things up, it’s extremely inconvenient!
Thank you everyone :)
Enjoy the XenPower(ed by SSD.
The ones in US went out in a couple of days in Milano the server is bigger, but also the demand higher…
just bought one mao.looking forward to test this beast
Provisioned, share please :)
here it is.
http://www.bild.me/bild.php?file=6784354XenPower.png
don’t know why i can’t copy paste text in putty, it works before. it seems to be under load. maybe many of buyer bench their VPS :)
Hello !
As long as you could run those tests, load has nothing to do with it :)
To have such an unresponsive session to be unable to copy will mean that the test is not running at all.
Congratulations! I use RamNode as well as other providers. Very happy with RamNode. Thank you!
Wow , We are at top again , RamNode ALL the way :D
Congratulations
Congratulations.
Congratulations
Thank you for the votes, means more than you might think, genuinely appreciated.
Anthony.
(Inception Hosting)
No Edis?
Congratulations!
Congratulations to the top :)
Also thank you to everyone who has voted for us and who made 2013 a fantastic year of growth for Crissic!
I think we should only consider providers who at least have an account or offer in LEB / LET. DigitalOcean does not even have presence in here- how come it has a vote.
DigitalOcean has been listed once.
Thanks again everyone! We are incredibly honored to be at the top!
You’re there for a good reason—I haven’t found any other LEB provider who can touch your pricing, uptime, performance, and support. Digital Ocean comes close, but your frequent discounts give you an edge :)
I now have 7 RamNodes I’m using for various purposes, and two for production use (after about a year with > 99.98% uptime, I’m confident enough to use RN for some production traffic!).
Nick,
You deserve to be number 1.
I used to be with BuyVM. But the a-hole attitude of Adric (of BuyVM) forced us to go with Ramnode. T’was a technical incident wherein Aldryc cancelled one year pre-paid services for a number mid-level VPSes even if only one VPS was the issue. Worse, a friend of mine experienced the same a-hole attitude of Aldric. But in his experience, no proof of violation was even provided by Aldryc.
We did encounter the same technical incident with Ramnode. But Ramnode was never an a-hole and sorted out the particular issue on that particular VPS professionally. They even allowed us to fix the technical issue with a limited SSH session and for a limited time. They never included the other normal VPSes into the issue just like how Andryc did.
And now, we are more than happy with Ramnode. Leaving BuyVM was the best thing because we wouldn’t have found Ramnode.
Congratulations to top 10 providers. :D
Thanks to everyone who has participated in the voting! We need more voters each quarter.
Congratulations to the top providers. You all deserve it!
Thank you Maarten et al. for organizing this!
Congratulations, Guys :)
Congratulations to all of the top ten!
Congratulations!
I use DO, it’s nice to see it on the list,
Very happy with DO.
Thank you!
Congratulations,Digital Ocean is ok!
congrats to the winners!
Congratulation to All. I have used INIZ, Backupsy, crissic & Digital Ocean. Really Good.
Congratulations all of you! Happy to see weloveservers.net at the top list!
I’m amazed seeing WLS in the list (even at #9).
QuickPacket? just heard it.
Ramnode again? Congratulation, you guys rock!
Iniz also great. My box is so stable there.
I think Crissic should sit at #5, their service is excellent.
But however the result is based on result of public poll. Just wondering why Edis and ServerMani are not there :) they are also great :)
Been considering a VPS for a while now and just recently came across this site. Thanks to this page I have now ordered my first VPS from RamNode…. exciting times!
Congrats all
Ramnode is number 1 again!
I am very impressed with the file transfer speeds between Ramnode’s Atlanta and Netherlands locations. I regularly see 20-45 MB/sec. That’s megabytes.
Join #ramnode on irc.netchat.io for questions and chat. The community is friendly and helpful.
Thank you for clicking my name and using my affiliate link. Somebody already used it before I even posted this. Thank you to whoever found my affiliate link elsewhere and waited until today’s 42% off coupon appeared. That made my day :)
Keep up the good work, Nick!

Also, I’m impressed by the uptime, speed and usefulness of my UK Lowendspirit box. The value given the cost is fantastic. I’ll order a Japan vps as soon as it becomes available. I have no need right now for a point of presence in Japan, but for $4 I can’t say no.
How do EDIS never appear in these things? They’re an awesome provider.
Never ? They got 4th place a few times iirc. This time I do not know, it puzzled me too.
Congratulations! RamNode is the best.
I am using the quickpacket vps.I think it’s best for me to create a website on it.At first,I really think it’s very expensive. But now,I think it’s really good.
I have:
1 RamNode VPSes, yes.
4 Prometeus VPSes, yes,
3 INIZ VPSes, yes,
2 Backupsy VPSes, yes,
1 Crissic VPSes, yes,
2 DigitalOcean VPSes, yes,
3 WeLoveServers VPSes, yes.
They are all GOOD!!!
shit wasn’t thinking, 1 VPS and more VPSes~ grammar problem
I was with RamNode a few months ago. I was happy with performance. Prometeus is just good for everything. I have more than 20 sites on their VPSes. INIZ was a bit harsh when it comes windows template on KVM but I understand their concerns. Patrick still helped me with the refund even they are very tight policy with refunding. Oktay is just awesome, sometimes I wonder if he ever sleeps beside works. Skylar helped me a lot when it comes to customizing products. DigitalOcean, no more to say, all the best. WeLoveServers is great even I had a few misunderstandings that time when one of my VPSes was compromised. I got angry and blamed them but it turned out my fault. I apologize. ty WLS
Gratz to everyone.
Congratulations!
Congratzzzz to all of the top ten providers.
I don’t remember if I voted or not. Hostigation is #1 for me, RamHost #2, RamNode I haven’t been with very long but the performance is great and it’s only had very minimal downtime so I’d put it at #3. I never have to worry about down time for #1 & #2 which is why I placed them so highly.
I still have a ReliableHostingServices (RHS) VPS but I will probably leave them since their performance/uptime is pretty weak. Depending how it goes, I’ll likely pick up a 2nd RamNode VPS at a different location since I really do think they can make it into my top 2.
+1 for Crissic, regrets I’m late ;)
QuickPacket is absolutely terrible for what I experienced.
As explained to you via PM, your account was terminated because of failure to make payment per the Terms of Service you agreed to when you signed up. You then tried to sign back up under a different e-mail address to get around the block on your original e-mail address. We denied your request for service and closed the new account as well. You then got hostile and used coarse language to our staff.
since you replied here, I have no choice to expand a bit more and make it clear.
3 months ago, your lame network had problem. the uplink was lower than 20mbps/s which is lower than 3M/s. it lasted half month without being solved. You and your tech kept telling me that speedtest was not an accurate way to check. Of course it’s not, but for 20 tests from different locations. none of them was over 20mbps/s which definitely showed a problem. I decided to quit at the end of that month. Of course I wouldn’t renew for the next month. then banned my account. fair enough.
3 months later, yesterday, I saw you were ranked in the top 10. I thought you must have improved the way of handling cases. might be a good progress. I decided to return with another email trying to see if I could get back to your service. Then your staff(or yourself I guess) banned my account and block my IP. That was before I got angry.
I even introduced quite a few people to buy your servers last year even you don’t have affiliate program. Your staff just so f****** rude to tell me I’m not welcome and QP has no interest in doing business with me.
I’ve been with nearly all the providers from WHT/LEB and introduce people to providers from our marketing resource. My friends and I have made a great affiliate conversion rate for many providers by introducing products to people from 5 different websites. none of the providers is so arrogant like you or your staff(or yourself). I start to think this is a company run by a family or one man/ two men business. You guys are very good at posting positive comments and get rid of bad comments on forums and blogs.
hope will not see you ranked in this list later. you are so lame.
In regard to your network speed issue, we tried to work with you, but you stopped answering our tickets. Speedtest.net is a very unreliable way to test a server’s network speed, as there can be many factors that impact that test.
Even if it was your intent to cancel your services with us, you failed to submit cancellation per the terms of service. We kept your server online for several days past the due date, and then kept your server in a suspended state for longer than that, since we did not know your intent was to cancel the service. Your lack of a proper cancellation left your account with an unpaid balance. We advised you of this by PM when you contacted us, so you were fully aware.
You decided to open a new account to try and get around the unpaid balance. We closed the new account and banned your IP address as a result, as you were fully aware of the issue with your original account.
If you would like to pay off the balance of the past due invoice, we can discuss reinstating your account so you may order services from us in the future.
The way you talked to me in public is totally different from what you and your staff say in ticket and LET private msg. It won’t make you look better, I can tell you.
Banning people is not going to achieve anything especially ban a person who even tried to advertise for your business. Train yourself and your staff how to handle cases better like other LEB/WHT providers do.
If don’t know about what David said below “violation of customers’ privacy” but I do know if you do that in the US, you are finished for sure. I can tell you mate, if you don’t want reviews which you called it negative reviews, you’d better take your arrogant attitude back when you talk to customers.
We were professional in both the tickets and private messages to you. However, you were unprofessional and used coarse language.
We did not violate David’s privacy. Nothing we shared was identifiable.
You wanna reply more so Google can rank this better? do it, mate
QuickPacket stole my money as well. My server kept going down so I gave up trying to use it. I paid using a single PayPal transaction, but somehow they put me on autopay. They then took money for a second year. I emailed them immediately to request a refund since their service is crap. They said there would be no refunds. At this point, I still had access to my VPS (since they took money for the second year).
I then emailed PayPal and asked them for a refund since the service never worked as described. PayPal found in QuickPacket’s favor and refused to refund me as well. After receiving notification from PayPal that I wanted a refund, QuickPacket then TERMINATED MY ACCOUNT ILLEGALLY. Their ToS states they only terminate for Chargebacks. PayPal has NO SUCH THING AS A CHARGEBACK, they have dispute resolutions, but QuickPacket didn’t care. I emailed QP to ask them to reinstate my account since I’d paid for the second year, but they refused claiming that a PayPal Dispute is a Chargeback and stopped responding to emails. I called PayPal and they told me it is absolutely NOT a Chargeback and that QP should not have terminated my account for requesting a dispute with PayPal. QP refused to respond to my emails or attempts at phone calls using the phone number PayPal gave me.
They took my money and refused to provide me service or a refund. They are bandits, thieves, and liars. Avoid, avoid, avoid!
Most easiest way they get trained is to ban people. ban these ones who have problems, suck the ones who haven’t got problems. very impressive business mode.
From what you have said i will stay away from this terrible company at all cost.Fraud company.
We’d be happy to look into the specifics of your case if you provide us more information by private message, but in general, the reason an account would be terminated after a PayPal dispute is the following section of our Terms of Service:
“19. If any payments are returned as a result of a dispute, insufficient funds or otherwise charged back, QuickPacket will impose a $35 returned payment fee. Service may be interrupted or terminated as a result of a returned payment. If service is interrupted, service will not be restored until the returned payment is repaid in addition to the $35 returned payment fee. If service is terminated, the customer is not entitled to a refund and is prohibited from any further use of QuickPacket services until the $35 returned payment fee is paid.”
We do not steal money. We follow our Terms of Service, which you agreed to when you sign up.
We do not offer telephone support. I do not see any open tickets without responses from anyone named David. Again, if you want to discuss your case, please contact me by private message and I can look into it further.
As you quote now, and as I discussed in email with QP, the ToS states “If any payments are returned […]” I never received a refund of any money from QP or from PayPal, so no payments were returned, and Section 19 does not apply. I explained this in my emails to QP, but QP stopped responding to my emails. I’ve already wasted many hours over the course of weeks trying to get my money back from the thieves at QuickPacket, so my only involvement now is to warn would-be buyers what horrible people run the place (or try to, when your server’s actually up!).
QuickPacket illegally, in violation of their Terms of Service, took my money but refused to provide me a refund or provide me any service. They are thieves and incompetents, and their service is terrible which is why I stopped using them in the first place. Avoid!
While I can’t comment on your specific case since I don’t know who you are, as soon as you opened up the dispute in PayPal, the previously mentioned section of the Terms of Service came into effect. While we may have been successful in our challenge to your PayPal dispute, that does not change that you disputed the payment and a Returned Payment Fee was incurred as a result.
I believe I figured out who you are. This case happened almost a year ago, so that’s why it was not obvious.
You signed up for service on February 20, 2012 for an annual subscription to a VPS plan with a PayPal subscription. The last ticket from you before renewal was on July 3, 2012 requesting SolusVM login information and to clear the login blacklist on your IP address as you had tried the wrong password too many times. We did not receive any tickets from you about outage or service issues.
You did not submit a cancellation request, so the service automatically renewed on February 20, 2013. You submitted payment from your PayPal account using the PayPal subscription that you added when you first signed up.
We received a note from you on February 20, 2013 after your service had already renewed and after you submitted payment, asking to cancel your service. We advised you that we were happy to work with you to resolve any issues that you were having and that if you wanted to cancel, we would be willing to cancel the service at the end of the current billing cycle (February 20, 2014).
You then responded saying that you originally paid a technician to setup your site and that it stopped working about a month after they set it up. The VPS service that you subscribed to was unmanaged, so it was your responsibility to manage the administration/configuration of the VPS. We verified that your VPS was online and was responding and provided you evidence of such. You threatened to post negative reviews of us on LEB if we did not issue a refund.
You opened a PayPal dispute, which we challenged and won. Per the terms of service, a $35.00 fee was invoiced for the Returned Payment Fee.
If you are willing to submit payment for the $35.00 Returned Payment Fee, we are willing to consider reactivating your account. If not, your account will remain closed.
Please do not disclose information about my private account matters to the public without my permission. Add that to the list of reasons to avoid QP: they discuss all your private dealings on public discussion forums!
As I’ve stated many times, no money was ever returned to me. The ToS states, “If any payments are returned […]”. As no money has ever been returned to me, QP is in violation of their own Terms of Service. Although it is QP’s contention that even opening a dispute causes a Return Payment Fee to be incurred, their Terms of Service states that it only is incurred if a payment is actually returned.
I will never use QP again, and I will continue to recommend everyone avoid them! They take your money, refuse to refund it, refuse to provide any services, and post private information about how your sites are administered internally on public forums. Definitely a company to avoid!
“If you are willing to submit payment for the $35.00 Returned Payment Fee, we are willing to consider reactivating your account.”
So if I send you $35, there’s a possibility you will give me an account, but there’s also a possibility you will just pocket the cash? Hah! The nerve of these crooks! You’ve already stolen my money for the second year and left me with nothing. Fool me once, shame on you.
“You threatened to post negative reviews of us on LEB if we did not issue a refund.” It was a promise. And unlike when you agreed to abide by your terms of service, I’m actually delivering on my promises.
We did not disclose any identifiable information, so there’s no violation of your privacy.
We stand by our earlier statement about the terms of service. As soon as you disputed the payment with PayPal, it was considered a returned payment. It does not matter that we were able to win the PayPal dispute.
There are administrative costs involved in responding to a PayPal dispute, so the $35.00 returned payment fee is meant to defray those costs, even though it often costs us more than $35.00 in time and effort to challenge false disputes.
David – we have refunded the payment to you and waived the $35 returned payment fee from your account with us. We hope this closes this matter once and for all.
Just pick up popcorn.
It’s unfortunate that a thread to congratulate these excellent providers turns into a provider having to defend themselves in such a public way. It is apparent the top 10 are tops not only in service, but in professionalism.
Maybe they’re rewriting their Terms of Service to be more clear :)
It’s sad to see DigitalOcean and We Love Servers at the bottom..
they provide great services that are so affordable..
And since I am here, Props to INIZ – they really did a bang-up custom offer for me last year and they are outperforming my KVM instance elsewhere. Very pleased with them and certainly a top performer.
Congratulation! Waiting for the best offer from this Top Provider in 2014. :)
Congratulations for the winner and thank you for all of You for providing the best service with cheap price.
Can anyone tell me the INIZ 2GB is OVZ or KVM/Xen?
OpenVZ
How can I vote next time? I miss FileMedia.de in the list: I got a very cheap KVM with them, it’s always on and fully performant. I don’t know about support as I never needed to contact them.
I found the topic on LET, so I answered my question by myself. But usually I read LEB, not LET, so I won’t know about the voting.
Congrats to all! I have 2 Ramnode boxes, iwstack instances & overzold (mao is also a great guy and very supporting at people on leb/let community), backupsy, DO and Inception. I had a box with WLS I just terminated it (didn’t use it last month and not so much bandwidth for use it in another project), but with this offer maybe I will catch one box! I will surely try also crissic: a lot of people here talk to much about his great service. It could be nice if Francisco was not separated from this community and had some offers here, too.
RamNode the best! Again!
Ramnode cupon SOMUCHLOVE seems to have expired already…
Hi, I really do not know who has voted for INIZ. My account, for which I paid for a year in advance, got terminated by the INIZ staff, Mr Patrick Hayward, without any warning, just after few days. He informed me I cannot use any of CPUs for more that few minutes, as it breaks a very unclear INIZ Terms of Service.
It was absolutely stupid to pay for a year in advance, and I am writing this comment to inform LowEndBox community about unacceptable INIZ “fair use” policies, which they use to milk the customers.
Please do not use INIZ, do not be stupid as me. If you do want to try, at least do not pay for a year in advance!
In no way do we advertise dedicated cores just for you.
We gave you chance to resolve your VPS consuming full core, you insisted that you didn’t want to resolve the issue and effectively abused our services then threatened legal action. We closed your account.
Simple as, there is a clear reason why we’ve been in the top 3 for the 2nd consecutive time and rarely see any negative reviews except from those in the wrong and wanting to abuse our services and/or refusing to resolve the issue but instead either chargeback or threatened legal action which i’d love to see one day actually happen.
No, I have not abused your services. I was using one of three CPUs for few minutes. I want to share my experience with LowEndBox users, that INIZ prefers customers not to use the server at all, please be aware of it.
In INIZ’s ToS is written: “CPUs sit idle in most cases.” http://iniz.com/terms.html
In reality it means that you pay for super-hyper-virtual CPUs, which you cannot ever use. INIZ could sell you even 256 CPUs, to make their scam attempt even more attractive.
Because selling a service which is not usable nor consentient with the actual offer is not fair, I asked for a refund, which was rejected. The legal action is the last possible step, because INIZ has not left me any other options.
I repeat: please be aware of INIZ, their annual offer is very attractive (50% discount) and now I know why, unfortunately I have learnt it on my own mistake. I wish I have tried them for a month, to discover their real face.
You said yourself that you had been running the same stuff since the start and suspended you few days after, in the hope you were running benchmarks and such which would cause high CPU for long duration however we still let it ran for 100% for few days and then decided to suspend you.
So not true at all, it was not for a few minutes it was for several days in fact.
We complied with our own TOS, you failed to do so. The TOS for that part has remained unchanged for over a year with no complaints except yourself regarding CPU usage :)
Yes, I was running the same stuff from the beginning, sometimes CPU usage was higher, sometimes lower. But in first five days, when, accordingly to your ToS, I had a chance to have my money back and close my account, you did not complain about the usage. You have entrapped me to have the money.
I would like to warn the LowBoxEnd users that during first five days you will be treated differently, it is all about your money.
BTW, I have started investigating Mr Patrick Hayward. INIZ is not his first business. His company, Web Phase Limited, with a capital 1 British pound ( http://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/ltd/web-phase ), had a different brand before, StormVM. As you can browse the web, StormVM brand collapsed in unclear circumstances last year – you can check customer complaints, using a simple google search.
More, the invoice I have received from INIZ, is not clear. It does have a different address from
145-157 ST JOHN STREET
LONDON
ENGLAND
EC1V 4PW
where Web Phase Limited is registered. I am not sure if this invoice was correctly issued, and I’ve just sent a question to HMRC (our British tax office) if I can legally include INIZ invoice into my tax books.
Please think twice before subscribing INIZ, do not put yourself into troubles, as I did.
Well, almost old LEB/LET user already know that Iniz were StormVZ, but they have a good reputation in here.
So, maybe we should discuss this at LowEndTalk.com?
Need to go back to researching and less blackmailing us.

You tried to blackmail us stating if we don’t give a refund you will post negative reviews everywhere and take us to court.
So please write to us as stated in ticket and we look forward to seeing you. If ofcourse that wasn’t just a poor attempt at blackmailing us which didn’t work.
I look forward to talking to HMRC if of course they take you seriously.
I really do not know how INIZ can have a good reputation here. The problem is, that I have trusted LowEndBox and the fact there was not so many complaints about Mr Patrick Haywards current business.
I’m writing here my opinions, which is not blackmailing, I do present facts related to my experience with INIZ. And my experience was simply awful, INIZ claims that I have abused the service when I was simply _using_ it.
Please read this thread carefully and make your own decisions about INIZ and Mr Patrick Haywards attitude to his customers.
its like this ive been suspended by iniz too “OH NO YOU SAY GOSH” guess what i bought another 9 services after this due to the facts are simple mr patrick suspended my account i opened a ticket he explained im abusing cpu ok fair enough i checked i BACKED UP like any normal person would having access again, then i check and remove the issue it was cron running multi times on zpanel issue solved from the help of mr patrick and i will continue to purchase 99% working good vps’s as you all know 1% shit happens in life
Yes exactly, I appreciate clients like yourself understanding, checking and then resolving the issue.
We do not run automated VPS monitoring that automatically turns off / reboots your VM, our nodes are monitored manually through various methods and as a result our suspensions are correct and we log any details which may help you resolve the issue.
Glad to have you as a client :)
Hi,
Congratulations!
How long will the RamNode offer be on for?
Thanks,
Anthony
I love how wide the margin between 2nd and 3rd is.
NewsFlash NewsFlash:
Would not recommend, Prometeus.net / IperWeb.com / OverZold.com
Closed my account and would not even allow me
to BackUp my account after more than 2-Years of
paying them with punctuality on time ever time !
When I mention that I would post to LowEndBox.com
about it is when they terminated my account from suspended
to terminated, very NAZI-Like / GOD-Like attitude, STAY AWAY !
Thanks for offering good real results.
These poll results are awesome.
