Back at the end of May, we shared news that MinIO was “deprecating” certain features from the community version of its product. “Deprecating” in this context meant removing features that the community had used for a long time and bug-tested, and moving those features into its paid product. At the tune of $96K a year.
And the hits just keep coming.
This month, MinIO has made a couple more moves that scream “we really hate our community”.
For one, they stated that MinIO would be distributed as source only. This means no more Docker images.
Of course, the source code they’re referring to is not even being developed anymore.
Final, you little people!
How petty is that? Not nearly as the other move.
As of October 10, 2025, the MinIO object store documentation and example were pulled from web hosting.
Moving forward, community users can build and host the documentation themselves using the instructions below.
No further development of the documentation is planned at this time. The project maintainers will make best efforts to review and merge PRs from the community.
In other words, “We hate you. If you want documentation, you can just do it yourself.”
If they have this much venom for the large community that has loyally bug-tested their product for years, can you imagine the contempt they have for the fools who give them money as paying customers?
