The name “Buffalo” is legendary in our community. It’s a city in Western New York state where ColoCrossing has offered service since the earliest days of LowEndBox. It’s a strategic geography – close enough to New York City to serve the East Coast with low latency, yet much cheaper than operating out of a Manhattan data center. This has allowed them offer wonderfully low prices, and over the years many providers have hosted there.
And now they’re expanding!
Let’s take a look at the news:

Strategically located in Buffalo, the facility continues to serve as a critical hub for low-latency connectivity to major metropolitan areas including New York City, Toronto, and Chicago. This expansion reflects a long-term investment in infrastructure designed to support enterprise growth, evolving application demands, and next-generation workloads.
Expanding Capacity and Infrastructure
The Buffalo expansion introduced significant enhancements across space, power, and cooling. The project added approximately 5,000 square feet of additional data center space, enabling a substantial increase in available cabinet capacity.
In total, the facility now supports a broader range of deployment configurations, including private locking suites designed to provide dedicated, secure environments for customers requiring additional isolation and control.
Power and Cooling Enhancements
To accommodate modern high-density computing requirements, the expansion includes a significant increase in power capacity, delivering an additional 250KW. This upgrade ensures the facility can support workloads such as AI processing, virtualization, and large-scale distributed systems.
Cooling infrastructure was also a central focus. The deployment of CRAC units, glycol-based cooling systems, rooftop dry coolers, and supporting HVAC components was completed to maintain optimal thermal conditions. These systems are engineered to handle dense rack configurations while maintaining operational efficiency and reliability.
Private Locking Suites and Enhanced Security Options
A key addition to the Buffalo facility is the introduction of private locking suites. Each suite is designed to house multiple cabinets, typically ranging from three to four per suite, offering clients a dedicated and secure footprint within the facility.
This configuration supports organizations that require controlled access, physical separation, and the flexibility to scale within a private environment while maintaining proximity to ColoCrossing’s core infrastructure and network backbone.
Strategic Advantages of Buffalo
Buffalo continues to be a preferred location for infrastructure deployments due to several advantages:
- Low-latency access to major East Coast and Midwest markets
- Strong regional power infrastructure and grid stability
- Reduced disaster exposure compared to coastal regions
- Compliance-friendly environment with robust physical and operational security
These factors make Buffalo an ideal location for organizations seeking a balance of performance, resilience, and operational cost efficiency.
Supporting Growth and Future Expansion
With the Buffalo expansion now complete, ColoCrossing has reinforced its commitment to delivering scalable infrastructure solutions backed by enterprise-grade reliability and connectivity. The upgraded facility is designed not only to meet current demand but also to accommodate continued growth in the years ahead.
