Via this WHT offer. HighVPS.com was only registered back in June last year, and on their home page it shows their latest update — “HigVPS has been taken over by a new management team…“. Well, the good part follows. “To celebreate this, the 30% monthly discount code has been released to the public.“. So with coupon code aimHIGH you can get 30% recurring discount on any VPS plans, which brings their unmanaged VPS package “Basic” to $3.49/month.
- 256MB guarantee/512MB burstable memory
- 15GB storage
- 250GB/month data transfer
- 2 IP addresses
- OpenVZ
On their “About Us” page, they have facilities in Atlanta but “with recent management change” they are expanding to Colo4 Dallas.
Their domain is now registered to UK-based “Jason Scales” of Panira Holding which has many related services including Server-Logix and FreeSpace Project, that aims to get many UK-based business online.

anyone tried?
I tried, ordered a vps, paid by paypal, and waited about 6 hours, still no vps login details received. feel a bit slow.
Due to large influxes of orders, there are some delays. But all orders are deployed within 12 hours. In terms of payments, we manually review each payment we receive for anti-fraud purposes. After that has taken place, we will apply it to an invoice.
I just received my vps details, the quality is great. so far so good.
stan can you do a traceroute to the box and advise us on the location of this node? thanks.
It’s Dallas, Texas
How long time the coupon will expire?
It expires in approx 2 weeks from now.
hello Jason
i have some questions :D
1. how many support clients do you have ?
2. is your client support 24/7 ? or just a few hours a day ?
thnak you :D
Can you give me a free trial for 3 days?
is the name server anonymous?
To answer questions, we have 24/7 covered technical support with priority offered to fully managed customers. We do not offer free trials.
Seventh, the nameservers are redundant and on the same redundant systems I use for FreeSpace Project (unrelated companies, both under my belt). They are simply for redundancy :)
Anyone care to give more details than Dallas, Texas please? Dallas has a number of different datacenters, some of them better than others.
just ask them, they def know where they have their servers
Considering that they appear to be monitoring this thread, I think I did just ask them.
Although the real reason why I asked was so that they would actually list their datacenter instead of just the general city. As noted, Dallas has many of them.
Hello,
Sorry for the slow response to this. We use servers in the Colo4 facility and the Dallas Infomart. We have a mixture of configurations across providers in both facilities.
need a test ip
thanks
Please contact sales and we will supply one.
Hello.
I placed a order for an Unmanaged VPS 2 or 3 days ago.
Looked over invoices and there is no business info at all. Also, the PDF invoice is blank.
I submitted a ticket about this issue, but no answer so far.
Here’s the benchmark results for my vps (Plan: Basic, 256mb ram, clean updated Cent OS):
I’m very impressed! I hope that the results will stay the same in the future!
Evo: what did you use for benchmark the machine ?
bad support, realy bad support…
Sorin, I used UnixBench v4.1.0 – WHT Variant – members.dslextreme.com/users/andylee/unixbench-4.1.0-wht.tar.gz
Finally got my vps after a long wait. the vps is good for the price paid. But according to the setup by the team there was no swap on the disk.
Also apart from HighVPS. I installed webmin and then mysql. Mysql was using 140mb of the ram. can somebody help with what is going on. I got it through yum and i have centos 5.5 installed.
You have to tweak mysql conf to reduce memory usage
@Sandro
Thanks for the help
i stopped mysql and yum installed sqlite and it took of about 80 mb. but 60mb still is pretty huge for sqlite.
Just to confirm, even sqlite, i have to tweak the mysql conf right.
Sorry i just hate databases, especially when it comes to configuring them. Love the functionality though.

I was in the shopping cart at HighVPS and was about the check out when I noticed that…it was not on an SSL connection?
@Srikanth — sqlite is an embedded database and it should not take any memory by itself. You probably meant that the overall memory consumption? What else is running? My guess would be Apache?
@syaman
good point
@ syaman – does it really matter? They use Paypal/2Checkout it looks like so they’re not storing any credit card information in their databases… and I can almost guarantee your name/address/phone number/etc type information is already on the internet.
I ordered the VPS and it does not seem to have a Control Panel to reboot/turn off/etc. And it looks like the only OS you can use is CentOS
We offer a panel access upon request, however are building it in to manage.highvps.com – we offer CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu – just put in the request! :)
> We offer a panel access upon request
yes but it takes weeks to get a response…
Yeah JohnB, it’s a ghost town…
good to know guys
just got a mail from highvps. says it has been bought out by OSHS Ltd (Open Source Hosting Solutions Limited). OSHS (http://www.oshs.co.uk)
is this is a good or bad news?
it’s good if the quality gets better…but I think only the support can be better… because the servers are currently perfect… and the support NOT…
More info can be found on this thread at WHT. Not looking good as the price might raise for existing customers.
I talked with the sales of opensourcehostingsolutions.com. They said that for now the prices will remain the same.
Here’s an interesting article about Mr. Jason Scales:
Linky
Beware.
Hmm very interesting article. Thanks!
Yup! Found it while browsing through WHT.
OSHS is also a stupid company, they answer all 3-7 days to support tickets… do not waste your time and money!!!
I’ve recently got this message from HighVPS.com, stay away from this hosting provider.
Hi,
Please note that the server provider our server node was purchased from has apparently been sold on and has shut down our server without notice.
We are trying to see what we can do, but we are suspecting the worst and it will most likely be non-recoverable.
We can offer you a replacement VPS on another node or you can wait to see if the node comes back up. If you’d like a replacement please reply to this notice.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused, but this problem is really something out of our hands and we are as frustrated by it as you will be.
Regards,
HighVPS Customer Services.
