  3. Due to large influxes of orders, there are some delays. But all orders are deployed within 12 hours. In terms of payments, we manually review each payment we receive for anti-fraud purposes. After that has taken place, we will apply it to an invoice.

  12. To answer questions, we have 24/7 covered technical support with priority offered to fully managed customers. We do not offer free trials.

  13. Seventh, the nameservers are redundant and on the same redundant systems I use for FreeSpace Project (unrelated companies, both under my belt). They are simply for redundancy :)

  14. Anyone care to give more details than Dallas, Texas please? Dallas has a number of different datacenters, some of them better than others.

  16. Considering that they appear to be monitoring this thread, I think I did just ask them.

Although the real reason why I asked was so that they would actually list their datacenter instead of just the general city. As noted, Dallas has many of them.

  17. Hello,

Sorry for the slow response to this. We use servers in the Colo4 facility and the Dallas Infomart. We have a mixture of configurations across providers in both facilities.

I placed a order for an Unmanaged VPS 2 or 3 days ago.
Looked over invoices and there is no business info at all. Also, the PDF invoice is blank.
I submitted a ticket about this issue, but no answer so far.

You have to tweak mysql conf to reduce memory usage

    May 22, 2010 @ 2:07 pm | Reply
  27. @Sandro

    Thanks for the help

i stopped mysql and yum installed sqlite and it took of about 80 mb. but 60mb still is pretty huge for sqlite.

Just to confirm, even sqlite, i have to tweak the mysql conf right.

Sorry i just hate databases, especially when it comes to configuring them. Love the functionality though.

  29. @Srikanth — sqlite is an embedded database and it should not take any memory by itself. You probably meant that the overall memory consumption? What else is running? My guess would be Apache?

@ syaman – does it really matter? They use Paypal/2Checkout it looks like so they’re not storing any credit card information in their databases… and I can almost guarantee your name/address/phone number/etc type information is already on the internet.

  45. I’ve recently got this message from HighVPS.com, stay away from this hosting provider.

    Hi,
Please note that the server provider our server node was purchased from has apparently been sold on and has shut down our server without notice.
We are trying to see what we can do, but we are suspecting the worst and it will most likely be non-recoverable.
We can offer you a replacement VPS on another node or you can wait to see if the node comes back up. If you’d like a replacement please reply to this notice.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused, but this problem is really something out of our hands and we are as frustrated by it as you will be.
    Regards,
    HighVPS Customer Services.
