Via this WHT offer. Does anyone know about this provider, Lightwave.Net? The logo looks like it’s created from GIMP. Domain was registered back in 1997. WHT user was created back in 2003. However there is not much info on the website about this provider. They have also recently announced the availability of their OpenVZ packages, which starts from $7/month with the following spec:

• 256MB memory
• 20GB storage
• 200Gb/month data transfer
• OpenVZ/SolusVM
• 1x IPv4 + 2x IPv6

They use the data center in San Jose with IP provided by Ethr.net. The IP range is registered to “Lightwave Networking LLC” (which I guess I can dig out more info if I know how to do US business lookup). On their product page they are also intending to provide Xen PV, Xen HVM and KVM hosting. On their dedicated server testimony page though they do have nenolod of RapidXen as reference.

Would be an interesting provider to look out for.

   Hey. I heard of that from the late 90’s!

   Many IPv6 enabled companies give out /64 blocks like there’s no tomorrow (like the beginning of the IPv4 allocation). So 2 IPv6 up-front seems to be a bit “cheap”, but additional IPv6s are free.

   I’ve tried the $7 package to test some ipv6 apps. They even added a Ubuntu 10.04 openvz template to my account after I suggested that as an improvement when buying the package, so they are quite responsive. The provisioning was immediate and I could access the console in the next minute after paying via paypal. I had some networking issues with the 10.04 x86 template, but after opening a ticket I received 10mins later a suggestion to use the 10.04 x86_64 template, which worked by creating the venet0:0 net device as expected. Great service, great support, I’d recommend.

    Wanted to mention, inbound routing no longer primarily uses Level3 or Savvis as many customers from China mentioned poor performance.

    Primary inbound routing will come in via HE.Net or Bandcon.
