Hi Dave! Tell us a bit about yourself?
I started in the IT industry 15 years ago. In the early days I was a System Administrator at a broadcast analytics company managing the server infrastructure. This is when I gained a huge interest in media streaming. I have always been a muso so, as you can imagine, technology and music were a match made in heaven. This led me to start my own company providing streaming solutions, which taught me a lot about hosting environments and content delivery networks.
Wow! So How did Coast Hosting start?
In 2020, as we know, COVID-19 hit the world. I started to see a lot of local businesses struggling to stay afloat. They were looking at how to move their business online, which included web design and setting up e-commerce stores. I started Coast Hosting to provide an environment that made it easy to do that at an affordable price.
So you offer Shared Web Hosting, WordPress and Email Plans. How does Coast Hosting differentiate itself from the rest?
Great question! Pretty simple, we only focus on web hosting in Australia. There are very few companies in Australia that aren’t owned by the big players, which gives us the advantage to customize deals as per customer requirements, without the red tape. We are even happy to try and match other providers’ deals, just talk to us!
You openly mention your network runs on Linode servers, why Linode?
Absolutely! Linode is a premium cloud provider. We want to give customers the best web hosting experience. We believe at this stage Linode’s infrastructure suits us just fine. However we are looking at offering independent hardware services such as VPSes and Dedicated Servers in the future, but at this stage we have no set launch date.
Haven’t we seen you somewhere before?
Haha, yes most likely! I am RackNerd’s Digital Content Manager on a contract basis. Dustin and I have worked closely for the last 2 years, and he is a top bloke.
