This is a top reason why many choose to host a website or application based upon a Virtual Private Server (VPS) instead of shared hosting. More control and resources as VPS’s come with full root access.

Why mention OpenVPN and SOCKS5?? WireGuard is where it’s at in 2021. <3

Can you recommend WireGuard client app on Android?

I think the default one offered by WireGuard is the best.

All links available on their website:
        https://www.wireguard.com/install/

My favourite install script for VPS is actually the PiVPN script (works on any debian/ubuntu server):
        https://pivpn.io/

Single line install (you can download and review the script first, too) and very simple command to add new clients “pivpn add”.

I disagree with the Hobby Use argument. Using a VPS, on shared equipment, with a network interface exposed to the internet isn’t the best place to learn Linux. It does sound like a great opportunity to get hacked.
