I bought a smaller 1GB OpenVZ VPS a bit ago and have connection time-outs and shutdowns and I was told that if I don’t want that then I need to upgrade to KVM and they won’t refund my money because it has been more than three days.
They tried to re-create the VPS on another node and that has the same issues. They offered to re-create it again, but I don’t have much hope that it would be better.

What about issue that have bring down services for thousand of your clients? You offer new services, but old issues ones is not fixed, and srvices for old customers still not provided? Its already month since my special KVM VPS is offline, and support is silence! You just take peoples money, and than tell different story “why its not possible to provide service”! Its totally scam and bull**it that is written on your site or other places on internet. It’s can’t be forever, yu can’t foolish people so long! Recreating the vps is only a temporary fix, the servers are oversold to the max. I couldn’t get a refund either on servers that didn’t work and I was only 24hours in.

I have been offline now for 36 hours.

The Control Panel page (https://vpscp.alpharacks.com:5656) is offline too. Their support page (https://www.alpharacks.com/myrack/) is slow as hell, and my ticket asking what’s going on remains unanswered for 35 hours, too.

Before the current outage, I was going offline and had to manually reboot my VPS again and again.

I have three VPS’s with Alpharacks, first one bought 4 years ago.

No problems and actually one of the most stable hosting providers I am currently using. Haven’t had to contact their support much, but when I did have a question they were fast to respond.

Overall i’d recommended them to others.

I went out of my way to comment on this. Alpharackd has been nothing but trouble for me. Customer service is terrible, as is server quality and speed. Their virtualization platform is constantly going down and causing problems, including data loss. Don’t buy.

My sites went offline, for 48h now.
AlphaRack’s Control Panel page (where I can manage my sites) doesn’t load either (also for 48h). Their support ticket system works, but no answer (for 47h).

I am disappointed, they always had outages but not that massive.

I was a customer of Woothosting and these guys bought them out. So far the support has gotten much faster TBH! I have no complaints.

For anyone else who is having an issue at least try to contact them. At least in my experience their support guys respond pretty fast. I’m sure they’re busy right now since they just bought out a few other hosting companies.

Alphracks is actually a joke hosting provider this is the only provider I have had to do a paypal chargeback for due to VPS constantly going offline. Support does not exist! Beware if you have more than one service with them and get a refund on one service they will cancel them all and delete all your access!!!

    Following is my experience so you can make an informed decision;
On commissioning the VPS (5core, 6gb ram, 1Gbe).
I selected a USA Location, paid extra for the gigbit connection speed. got an email saying server is commissioned. yay!! raised ticket for the upgrades
tried to start the vps, bootup took 30mins, console login took 5 mins and putty timed out countless times.
IP was in Latvia, took over an hour to run apt install speedtest-cli. installer highlighted download 700K took 3 mins. reopened the ticket, then started the to and fro with standard reply of “its fixed, someone was overusing the network try again later” and me sending screen shots as to why its not fixed.
got sick of it and requested a cancellation and refund.
here’s the catch 22… Service got cancelled but no refund so opened a ticket with billing. again some to and fro with questions from billing. ***here is the Kicker** the process gets dragged over 3 days and then you get a reply to say sorry its over 3 days we don’t provide refunds!!!
bottom line, no Server, no refund and spent way too much time on tickets.
Do you think I got ripped off??
now to raise dispute with paypal

I know you sound pissed off, but just so you know, that’s probably because they just got new IPs allocated from RIPE or ARIN and the current GEOIP data is from the previous owner of the IP. GEOIP does not always mean the server is located in that location. The only real way to tell is thru a traceroute. If they haven’t already ask for them to submit GEOIP corrections to the major databases like MaxMind.

I’ve had the same issue with my VPS at another provider, which promptly solved itself after a few weeks, and also with another VPS of mine a couple months ago at another company. It’s not uncommon at all as GEOIP Databases can take time to update.

Moral of the story, dont’ rely on GEOIP data, run a traceroute and see where your hops are going ;-)

They only know how to take money from peoples. I bought reseller hosting with dedicated IP it’s still getting down everyday 100+ times i receieve uptime robot notification. And then i bought a kvm VPS, omg. Hell ?? VPS is not a vps it look like local a P1 computer with electricity shortage i think so. VPS is too much slow, 1 Ssh commands take 5 seconds to show on screen what you write. And it is down daily 5-10 times.

    • Jeff:

I’ve got a master reseller with them and I’d have to disagree…

Sure they are not perfect, no one is… but they are definitely more reliable than some of the bigger hosts that charge way more.

And definitely reliable enough to host a website or two, and also host my customer’s sites. And they provide a great price/value too.

BTW – your claims sound a bit exaggerated. P1 computer? C’mon man.

just a headsup before you guys of think that it would be a good deal:

i am a customer since about 1year when it was woothosting or hostmybytes still

i am a customer since about 1year, was with woothosting wich has been bough or something by alpharacks and im facing a lot of issues with your servers recently, just look into my tickets of the last weeks, more than 30 because of downtime or extreme slowness!

i know for that cheap price not much is to be expected but atleast an uptime of 1month should be doable.

i have a cloud pool that went fine for months but suddenly was overloaded so i wasted multiple days moving all.

additionaly i have 3 of this “china connected” vps severs, they are down multiple times a week, i have to restart them manually always or your support person move it to another node.

all in all a very bad experience, cannot recommend, i hope josh helps here to improve it now!

Had a HMB server (which was not the best by any means) but its unusable after the buyout. Had to go thru a lot just to even get acess to my server again, now im getting kilobyte/s download speed even thru the best CDN. I wish I could get my money back.

It seems all the complaints here are from customers of previous companies they bought out (like HMB or woot) i’d say give them a bit to get acquinated and get things settled from the buyout before criticizing them.

I would stay away from these guys if you value your sanity. They took over from hostmybytes on my VPS and I have had nothing but issues. Several times I have had my website I host on it go down, only to log in and look at something like:

    ~# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    /dev/simfs 87G 8.4G 0 100% /
    devtmpfs 2.0G 0 2.0G 0% /dev
    tmpfs 2.0G 0 2.0G 0% /dev/shm
    tmpfs 2.0G 37M 2.0G 2% /run
    tmpfs 2.0G 0 2.0G 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
    tmpfs 410M 0 410M 0% /run/user/0

This is on a server that is supposed to have 100GB of disk. When I contacted them about this, the only option they gave me was to set up a fresh new node with a new IP address and have me restore my data from backup. They didn’t even consider moving the data themselves or setting up a new server and keeping the old one temporarily active so I could move my data without having to do it from my personal machine.

These guys are absolute trash for a company. When they bought my previous provider, who I had cancelled with a year ago, they re-activated the package and tried to bill me! A dirty business trick they did as part of the acquisition to try and trick cancelled customers into thinking they hadn’t cancelled and to pay again? I think so.

They also re-subscribed me to all the mailing lists I unsubscribed from, without ANY permission from me. I can’t unsubscribe, it fails, nor do they offer one-click unsubscribe to comply with CASL law in Canada. I’ve opened two support tickets and tweeted them several times to stop emailing me, and all are ignored and closed. I now report every single unsolicited email to the RCMP who enforce CASL law with the hopes that Alpha will get a fine.

I came over with WootHosting (which was good) but the AlphaRacks guys are weird. First, they reassigned a new IP without notice. Then my server went down and would not come back up. I tried for days to open a support ticket, but the screen said “critical error.” They offered a lot of deals recently; maybe they bailed and ran. Either way, it may be advisable to wait until their service stabilizes. At this point, I merely hope to get to my data.

May 18, 2019: Almost two days ALL , I repeat ALL their VPS and services are off.

This situation, if you had the misfortune to buy their services is catastrophic.

They said: “Our datacenter is located in downtown Los Angeles, CA – equipped with proper redundancy and high resiliency”
The truth is all is down from 2 days and the resilience of their systems is equal to zero.

But since Alpharacks got the woothosting the Costumer Service response is not good, waiting for long response, idle tickets for 2 days, reply after 2days.. wtf…

So far my experience with them was not bad either, but now i’m dissapointed, to say the least.

They state there is outage for some parts of their network.

“There is currently a network level outage with our upstream provider, causing downtime for our Los Angeles and Miami based services. We are investigating with the engineers.
No ETA currently available but we are working as diligently as possible.

    Thank you for your patience.

Suddenly their client section is not working properly anymore and their support is not replying anymore as well…so far for 24/7 support???.

Instead of requiring new company’s and bribing about that, they should pay more attention to managing skills for when the shit hits the fan.
If they really would be professional, they would inform their clients about big issues like this. And to be honest i can’t recall i ever experienced an outage for days…ever!

Since they are suddenly unresponsive and the issue is still ongoing, i take their explanation of the upstream provider as highly doubtful, and just a cheap way of hiding their lack of skills.

I had been a customer of them for many years now without any issues. Until recently, servers have been down for days, and I’m not alone. No way to access servers at all at the moment and support has gone dark. With the exception of the occasional tweets that they are working on the situation, nothing has been said on when or even if we can expect to regain access. I have since moved to a cloud provider and initiated a paypal dispute for all of my servers that have recently been paid for. 3+ days of downtime is completely unacceptable.

Maybe their higher end services are better, but I tend to have problems where they reboot the host server, causing my VPS to go down, or they let other VPS’s consume all the resources so mine becomes very slow.

But now there is an on-going outage lasting four days now. Said it was a problem with their “upstream” link. Everything still seems to be down, and no one is replying to anything. Did they all get arrested or something?

We are still waiting for a reply from our DC Quadranet about this. We have seem to lost contact with them due an internal dispute in QN.

We are not owned by a former or actual employee from QN.

There is some info in the web about a criminal investigation or something like, about this we are not so sure about it. But what it’s true is that our DC has locked our servers. So we dont have access thru VNC, SSH… nothing. We have tried to recreate nodes or instances and for now its not possible.

So, for now its all the info i have, i’m sorry i can’t provide you more info since i’m at the sales department, but i’m turning this ticket to our support deparment so one of our tech guys will update you further and perhaps provide you more info that the one i can bring you.

It would be nice if QuadraNet gave 48 hours grace or more so that victims of this debacle could recover what they could As it stands I will probably prefer hosting in Dallas or NY after this, and certainly not with a company that uses QuadraNet. I understand it is not QN’s problem but flicking the switch seems harsh and I can’t easily forget that.

  86. Alpharacks claim there is an issue with their data center and a criminal investigation is taking place. I believe Alpha Racks should be investigate for criminal activties also!

My VPS has been off for nearly a month now. The early tickets were responded to. However the last 2 have had no response for 2 weeks.

Avoid this company at all costs, they shouldn’t be allowed to sell on LEB any longer. Maybe LEB should introduce a 3 strike policy, the amount of issues all over the internet regarding the services Alpha Racks provide makes for very interesting reading.

As for no ETA on when the issue will be resolved is the worst thing you want to hear from any provider and the best bit, Alpha Racks thinks that is acceptable to ignore their customers and put a little announcement, stating how it is not there fault.

Its OK there they have their money from customers, therefore don’t care if the service is down! How about they refund every customer in full for the fact that they can’t offer the service that was purchased from them.

Given the recent outage that exceeded the provisions and financial capabilities of our disaster recovery plan, AlphaRacks will no longer be providing services. We were a budget focused VPS provider, which did not leave room for additional options financially within our disaster recovery plans.

We have contacted various different VPS hosting companies to attempt to establish a transfer agreement that is in accordance to our privacy policy. In addition, some of the below providers have reached out to us offering assistance / credit for our customers.

Below are other budget VPS providers that should provide you with a suitable new home for your VPS needs:

Email received and here is a portion:

After over a decade in business we regret to inform you that AlphaRacks is officially closing its doors. Given the recent outage that exceeded the provisions and financial capabilities of our disaster recovery plan, AlphaRacks will no longer be providing services. We were a budget focused VPS provider, which did not leave room for additional options financially within our disaster recovery plans.

Received this message from Alpharacks: “Officially closing doors. Out of business”.

Everyone who paid recently should start filing a dispute with PayPal and Credit card companies, hope we can recover some of our money from these thieves.

These assholes just closed their doors without allowing their customers to backup their data!

I am lucky enough my sites doesn’t change often, and I am backed up. Unfortunate for those people who did not have a backup plan.

Now it is time to look for a reliable and reputable service providers.

A Middle finger salute to the folks at Alpharacks! Thanks for wasting our valuable time and resources.

I got an email from AlphaRacks claiming they are out of business. I’m sure they have committed frauds by selling VPSs that don’t exist. I hope LowEndBox.com and other people would ask the police to look into their frauds.

  103. alphahacks is selling its list of customers to other hosts illegally and without the customers’ consent, it really does not seem like they are going to comply with the contracts and have put a default on their customers.

So Alpharacks is now bust and taken all their subscribers money with them. Very suspiciously I started receiving junk emails from a new company called PSK Hosting almost immediately afterwards. Given that until now only Alpharacks has been spamming me on that email address…well anyway make your own minds up!

their servers are down. I can’t access my vps for over a month since they acquired Hostmybytes. Customer service is ZERO, no response in 2 weeks.

    WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

Be careful that they are scammers
Pay the bill and after a few days it doesn’t work anymore, it’s useless to open the tickets because they are closed without the problem being solved
