BurstNET - £3.96 512MB OpenVZ VPS in UK

BurstNET.eu The “President” & “CEO” of BurstNET just sent me an email about their current UK/EU promotion. You can get 20% off recurring discount with promo code JAN20OFF when you purchase their UK Manchester based VPS products. “VPS Package #1” is now £3.96/month after the discount (~USD$6.34), although you might need to pay VAT depending on where you are from.

  • 512MB memory
  • 20GB storage
  • 1000GB/month data transfer
  • 2 IPv4 addresses + IPv6
  • OpenVZ/vePortal

I guess most people here would be familiar with BurstNET, and I won’t bother with any “investigation”. INC500™ company, and many claim to have servers in Scranton PA are actually just BurstNET resellers.

    • The BurstNET EU/UK system will NOT charge you VAT if you are not based in the EU.
The system also accepts valid VAT numbers for those in the EU that do not need/required to pay VAT.

I’m wondering the same thing. Terribly disappointed with the Scranton VPS I tried out recently, and the support response times. Wondering if the new operations will have decent servers, support, etc.

    • Please provide traceroutes regarding such, or support ticket #(s) regarding these claimed issues.
Both our US & UK networks are pretty rock solid, so I would like to see what you are referring to exactly.
Many factors can influence you feeling that way, including issues not even within our network, such as your ISP or their route to our network.

I didn’t bother with the support because it was non existent and i didn’t expect any for the amount i was paying. I’ve also tried your “live” support which seemed like it was just for show; no answers after multiple messages over the 6 hours i waited for a reply.

I have another server in Scranton and one in Netherlands with no problems (both with different provider), so i’m sure it’s not my ISP. Might be a problem with the particular node i was on. It doesn’t matter anyhow, it was just a month’s trial.

I’m willing to try out the Manchester VPS when there’s a better offer (Still not used to the new VAT rates even if it’s only 2.5% increase :)).

BurstNet have provided a pretty good service in the state but their customer support (mostly the attitude, technical ticket responses are good… sucks).

They had a fairly major outage at one of their data centres due to a near by power station/sub station going up in smoke. Fair enough, act of god if you will. This took out both of my VPS’ for a couple of hours. One of them promptly came back without issue.

The other came back, file system became read-only. Tried a reboot. Machine never came back. Received a [very late] response to my ticket to be told the host node had gone up in smoke and I was re-provisioned.

My node was out of action for quite some time. When I questioned their SLA, requesting the appropriate service gratis (in-line with their SLA)…. No response except their very busy.

A month has no gone past, I’ve killed all my services with them as I received no response.

    Just watch out.

Oh, for your own benefit burst you appear to be charging VAT to clients in the channel islands – they’re outside the EU.

  11. vetrg:

    I’m agree with Miles.

You can wait response from their support more than 48 hours.

I’m had one VPS from them several month ago, but they suspend him as if for overload and promise migrate to other more powerful node. After more than 4 days of waiting, i’m stopped using their services. But there no problems and complaints from other providers by using the VPS for the same purposes, and even for less money…

After such a relationship to the clients, for me BurstNET is a very bad VPS provider, albeit very famous :)

In addition, i’m found a other similar negative character reviews about them, before ordering a VPS. But then saw this on my own experience.

    • Sounds like you were over-utilizing your VPS, probably doing something that should not be done on a budget VPS. If we suspended your service, it was for good reason.

Internet speed is very slow to Poland, but it’s just great to DE / FR. If you are from Poland, dont take it. I don’t know why, but tracert from Poland goes by Cogent and ping = 300, 400 so it’s very, very bad especially that Poland is in Europe. But it’s great to DE or other countries.

Attn. “BurstNet scam, does not provide vps and does not refund money”

I have had a vps with them last year and for some reason I did not continue with that vps and this has been terminated by them 3 months ago, fine.

After getting LEA offer I did order for a new vps, and the money has been gone from my PP, now they told me that we will not give you a new vps, you need to pay last 3 month of your previous termianted vps to continue with a new vps (!!!) Whats a scam (!!!) And then I request them for refund of that new VPS and now they telling that “we cannot provide a refund per our service agreement.” Truly scam behavior. And they no.1 dont want to provide me a new vps, no.2 want to charge me 3 months money for a terminated vps, no.3 they even dont want to refund for the new order.

Our entire VPS cancellation process is automated…so I can only assume you did NOT cancel properly.

Update: Checked the ticket…that indeed occurred.
Client did not cancel service on time, was billed next billing period, did not pay, ordered new service, we refused new service delivery and re-purposed his payment towards outstanding debt, as he refused to clear that matter up.

Sorry…You caused your own problem here…and you have no one to blame but yourself.

@BurstNET ~ How much lie you want to say with customers? I get mail 2 months ago regarding “Cancellation of your VPS and suspension” On the otherhand I didnt continue with the vps due to poor customer support (most likely full 24~38 hours needed to get a support ticket answer!) Im already with solarvps, virpus, hostdime. But none of them are such scam like BurstNET. I did ordered for new vps and now they reply on me ticket “Your payment has been used for you November month’s due bill” (!) Also I found that the old server’s IP has been used by other customers of them, means they also sold my old server to others. So whats happened now!? They charged my new vps’s ordered money just for nothing?! I just lost everything from this scam, gain nothing truly at all. Now I feel bad for them, what such a poor vps provider who just love to scam with 4.46$~ money of mine! Now even when Im saying that I will going to open paypal dispute they told me with a BIG SMILE ~ “If you do open paypal dispute, we will charge you 35$ extra”. So there is no resolution at all and they just simply scam with my money. However, dont worry, if this burst.net admin will become rich enough with my 4.46$~ carry on. But I will think you are a beggar and I just provide this money to overcome your current conditions.

And please be easy, thing can go wrong always (you never know if it is from your side or from the client side), just like the bug with control panel that I have had with you, ticket id 2372826, I will write about it in WHT also in the future, since you have great services and small comments from our side as customer can help you(and all other providers) a lot for customer satisfaction.

You even get a answer within 32 hours but I got ticket answer when I was a customer 5 days later and 2nd reply 6 days later. Simply they dont know how to respect customer. Today I again see another bad reputation of burst networks. I suggest you to open wht thread against burst net so they will learn something from it.

  24. I have used Burst.net for some of my projects for over 2 years now and have nothing but good things to say about them. I had the same problems as someone else mentioned when the nearby substation blew and knocked out 1 of my VPS. I emailed them and they came back with an email stating what had happened and I would be setup on a new server. I had backups on another server so just copied all my files back. I was back up and running in 24 hours. Granted it was not my fault or theirs and I was down for 24 hours and a bit of stress but thats all the problems I have had in 2 years.

I use to use Dreamhost, it was problem after problem with them hell on earth!

  28. I feel for everyone that has so many complaints towards BurstNET, I myself have full rights to complain but yet I don’t because the support I do receive does out weigh the bad service.

I have been a BurstNET client for about 2 years and would say I have had ups and down and I would say mainly on the USA side, I had so many problems with the network or abusive users overloading the box causing my VPS to have issues.

Now I mainly use BurstNET’s UK VPS which I must has been pretty good but has cost me a lot of money due to there servers hard drives failing resulting in re-install and at the time I never really used BurstNET’s backup service which I do now which is saving me money as I have set up a basic installation of CentOS/cPanel and costly software to be pre-install only because of the backup feature enables me to do such a thing.
The only time I have to spend working on the VPS is when it does die is updating the cPanel, any configurations etc and reloading all clients websites back on to the box whic can take around 6-12 hours but this depends mainly on how many websites you are restoring.

Oh yea DO NOT store your backups on the VPS, make sure you either have the VPS linked to another VPS or make a hard copy of the websites to either Backup Service via FTP/SSH or directly to your computer and backup at least 4 times a week.

Not saying I don’t trust BurstNET just don’t know when a failure might occur.

Also to comment on BurstNET support, there is nothing to say as I have had expert support and very professional support reps. There sales team might want to improve some what but apart from that.

My understanding when it comes to BurstNET, if you are polite, understanding and most of all have some patience then BurstNET will help you the best they can. If your rude then don’t expect any special treatment because I know if someone was rude to me, that would be the last thing I give them.

If your clients bitch and complain, simply tell them the problem and that you are dealing with the problem and it may take some time to resolve and say that will pretty much give you the extra time you need when dealing with BurstNET whether you have to wait 20 Minutes or 48 hours.

Anyways I rate BurstNet out of 10
    Support: 8
    Network: 8
    VPSs: 7

Anyway’s, BurstNET I do hope you keep improving your services because as long as it gets better, you will always have me as a client.
