DataIdeas Closing Shop! Unexpected Shutdown of a Good Provider

DataIdeasJosh from DataIdeas jolted the LowEnd community today with an announcement that the firm is shutting down in one month.

We’re reaching out to inform you that Data Ideas LLC will officially cease operations on June 1st, 2025. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have served you and thank you for your trust and business over the years.

Their brand includes both DataIdeas and RPiServers.

Why?  Josh summarized:

Had a business partner, open a new facility, they left me high and dry. shit hit the fan.

Bummer!  DataIdeas has been a solid provider and active in our community since 2020.  Numerous LET members expressed their sadness:

  • @PineappleM: “Sorry to hear.”
  • @Kevinf100: “Damn was even going renew this (Was double to 2GB/40GB) as I never had problems with it. Best of luck to you.”
  • @gsea4: “Dang, that’s unexpected …”
  • @plumberg: “There goes my pi in the oblivion”
  • @concept: “Nooo! They were one of the good ones for Central US hosting.”
  • @cainyxues: “man that’s sad to hear……………………….:(“

DataIdeas is Exiting the Right Way

Josh is stepping away gracefully and making sure that everyone is treated fairly.  Dedicated and colo customers can buy their gear at market prices, and anyone who prepaid on a yearly or semi-annual VPS contract will get refunded the unused portion.  That’s how it should be done.

Far too often, we see providers say “due to unforeseen circumstances, we’re shutting down immediately” and they walk away.  Here, a respected provider is going out with class, so a tip of the hat to Josh.
