The latest version of the world’s greatest Linux distro arrives in 43 days.
Debian 12 “bookworm” will be released on June 10, 2023. That’s less than two years after the previous version (“bullseye”), which went live on August 14, 2021.
Some big changes:
- PHP 8
- Non-free firmware reorganized
- Support for APFS
- Kernel SMB
- Tons of new fonts
And of course many package revs. See the complete list here.
Personally I’m looking forward to PHP 8. Of course, it’s not hard to setup in Deb 11 if you want it, but it’s nice to have it in the distro base. Kernel SMB should be interesting as well.
