What about putting a SSL certificate on one of your OpenVZ servers? I had issued with another provider, telling me to upgrade to cPanel for a super high price.

      November 12, 2013 @ 6:00 pm | Reply
      • Yes, but your VPS is unmanaged therefore you’d be required to do this yourself but plenty of guides are out there for it.

Probably recommended you to CPanel for ease of setting it up.

    • It’s in their T&C.
      >Prohibited Content List
      >…Illegal Torrents…

And you may want to read their Network Usage Policy.
      https://dotvps.co/usage-policy.php
They have a “Guideline Usage” for the speed, so you know, for uploading…

    Jack,

DotVPS seems like a great hosting service, I have a few questions:
Is your total bandwidth limit for outgoing traffic only, and if so is there a cap on incoming traffic?
How much is additional bandwidth once exceeded? Thanks in advance!

    October 21, 2013 @ 12:38 am | Reply
    • Hi Joe,

Bandwidth is for both in/out bound traffic.

In the UK it works out about $25/TB and ATL is $13/TB , DAL is $10/TB and LA is $13/TB

Does anyone have an idea of how long they will take to set up my VPS? I sent a support ticket some 5 hours ago (around 8AM UK time?) and still haven’t heard of their 24×7 support.

I’m working on a project and need a UK VPS to conduct some tests; I must admit that I may not have done my due diligence. All I search for was ‘cheap UK VPS’ but wasn’t expecting a one man operation…

      Not 24×7 Support.

Your VPS failed to setup due to http://blog.soluslabs.com/2013/06/19/vps-server-com-what-is-it/ ‘3GB’ is not a valid hostname.

For $7/mo what was you expecting? A team of 400 workers?

Your VM is setup now, if you need anything else let me know.

Just got my welcome email with the login details. I must have misread your offer about the support hours, thus my comment about 24×7. My apologies.

And no, I’m not expecting a team of 400 workers for my little USD$7, just the normal support you should offer a new customer, whom by the way, you know nothing about. For all you know, I could turn up being one of your bigger clients, so I’d recommend not to scare people away with your sarcastic (and rude) comments.

Oh, and I do not recall using 3GB as my FQDN during setup…

    Hello to all,
as is often reported on lowendbox.com purchase offers . Yesterday I bought two ( Of one I had no problems , the other can read my misadventure ) .
I rarely complain, rather it is the first time in several years that I ‘m in this situation

I have some vps for several months , but since I have recently stumbled upon the small periods of maintenance of various services , I decided to get some more and synchronize with each other to allow my backend services can always work.

On 14/11/2013 I purchased the offer year. I received the email as usual the transaction properly executed and managed from the panel to access the customer , where I showed the service activation .

After more than 24 hours, I do not receive any email . I care and I go on the site and try to log in with the same email that their registration service told me the payment . The system prevents me to access the customer telling me that I was wrong email or password. Then I try to reset the password , the system here shows me that the email data is not in their archives , so I dread having already paid for the service for 12 months.
Not very cordially Jack tells me that they do not have problems like this and thinks I’m trying to cheat them . This behavior is wrong for two reasons:
The first is that no system is free of bugs .
the second is that by sending the email sent to me by the system kept saying that I had added another email, even if the reporting system within the email itself also indicates my email .

Damage on the damage , not only did not have the VPS I paid, maybe I will be refunded , but I have been blacklisted for users at high risk. All for their problem reporting .

    November 15, 2013 @ 5:14 pm | Reply
    • No point in lying now is there, you used a different email for your client area than you did for paying then forgot the email/password you had used, when I gave you the email you had used as the account was linked due to using the email you used to submit a ticket for payment you said “However, I have a second email, @fastwebnet (currently disabled due to problems with Fastweb) I have other email as @fastwebnet.it”

Your order was refunded last night as you are clearly inexperience with how to order from providers offering services via WHMCS.

Hello Jack, 5 years after I buy vps inexperience I think it’s an insult.

In addition, since the email on “fastwebnet.it” no email arrives, the server warns that the user is locked. You could also look at the logs.

I asked if I could have access to. You have denied me.

I lost 24 hours, thanks to you for nothing.

  36. Stay away from DotVPS:

    Stay away from DotVPS.
    1) After signing up with DotVPS the service was unavailable on and off for weeks due to various DDoS situations which the staff clearly could not handle.
    2) The company said then suddenly sold to some other unknown company. Then a new message was sent to us customers, saying that the company was NOT sold after all.
    3) After having been a customer for about 9 months, I suddenly got my VPS suspending (without any warning whatsoever) for “breaching the terms and conditions”. When I pointed out it I had done nothing wrong according to the ToC, the terms were suddenly changed so that it was suddenly not allowed.

I did not get a chance to retrieve all my pages that were changed since last backup.
So do yourself a favor. Keep away, it can become very expensive to host your site with DotVPS.

And again… STAY AWAY FROM DOTVPS. This company is FRAUDULENT.

This is not a company, this is a young teenager that tries to sell up every time he get DDoS situations. Its not the first time this has happened. 38. DO NOT pay for this service, do NOT buy from these guys. Talk about a complete and total ripoff, and unprofessional company.

having been with them for 6+ months, I have to say, worst service EVER.

BIG problem: Moving your data with no PROPER notice given
This should set everyone’s alert level to high. No, really… Not once, but TWICE they’ve pulled this stunt

Around August 2013, I had setup a client with their services, having tested the network myself. Lo and behold, 48 hours later, I get notice that they’re going to move things around and new IP addresses, etc were required.
#1: This was on a Friday night (way after 5pm CST)
#2: They claimed it would be in 7 days , but moved it on Monday afternoon

Just last week? Same thing. Got notice on Wednesday that they were going to take the server down Friday, and move it to a new network… They claimed this was a ‘scheduled’ move, yet, surprise of all surprises, nothing was given for proper notice.

Server just NOW went down (read: 20 minutes ago), still not back up, nor can I reboot it via solus.

I’ve given up all hope in trying to talk to this kid (yes, he is a kid). He’s an idiot who has ZERO respect for his customers, or the community..

    AVOID AVOID AVOID

  39. To all the nay Sayers and put downers. Your wrong! I’ve had my servers with dotvps for nearly a year with 99% uptime. Support tickets answered within an hour or two. Recently had my services moved to new hardware at no cost to me to allow them to remain in competitive market. During a recent downtime due to cable degradation constant emails were sent regarding my affected servers and steps they were taking to find the problem. Speeds are fantastic and upgrades are done instantly when requested.

I’m so happy with them I’m treating myself to one or two more boxes from them

So Jack keep it up. It’s hard to become the big fish in a sea of sharks ;)

Beware: after a few months of giving the rate advertised in this offer, they suddenly tripled their price, citing “The price for power and bandwidth in the datacenters has gone up considerably…” If I wanted to pay triple I would not be looking for a low end box! So now I have to cancel this account and set up another VPS elsewhere. What a headache!

Definitely stay away from this company.
