Their acceptable use policy is crazy.. No video/audio streaming, no hosting files over 50MB?? Isn’t that what the traffic limit is for?

    September 1, 2015 @ 3:20 pm | Reply
    • The acceptable use policy was more geared toward the shared hosting we offer. Files over 50MB are of course allowed on the VPS’s and so is streaming. We’ll be revising the terms to try to make the more clear. I apologize for any confusion.

Guys, please be careful with this. Good as a toy, but I’ve had a few problems so far, and they seem to have run out of some resources (trouble creating VMs, no node found). That said, the price is insane, so I’m happy to put up with this kind of stuff for non-production VMs.

If anyone has figured out a browser / os combination which actually lets you use their console, please let me know. I’ve tried just about everything I can think of except for mac.

Examples of problems (partly caused by console not working):

    – Can’t log in to a fresh Ubuntu VM since root ssh access is disabled by default and I don’t think a user account is set up for you (not clear).
    – I think that using an “&” in my initial password messed up whatever script sets the password, be careful.
    – Can not launch a VM using all of my allocated RAM (6 gb), biggest I managed yesterday was 4GB ram.
    – BIGGEST VM I MANAGED TO LAUNCH TODAY WAS 256MB OF RAM. A 512MB ATTEMPT RESULTED IN “NO NODE FOUND”.

Hopefully these guys get enough money out of this offer to buy another node or two.

    Jeremy.

    • We have a several nodes so no need to worry on that :) There were some issues with the provisioning which should now be resolved. If you are still unable to create a VM please submit a ticket and we’ll do it manually.

I had a rocky start with these guys as did many others in these comments. But seems that everything has been going smooth since Joshua ironed out all the problems. The comments indicate that Joshua was not expected such a big response from posting on LEB. There were problems the first few days that seemed to be due to a large influx of customers for HostingBox that maybe they weren’t set up for, but things have been fine ever since for me.

This is a very interesting offer and I’d love to give it a try, but I have some questions if you don’t mind.

    1. Your ToS says: “We also retain the right to increase any pricing and make changes to our account plans without notification.” Can you clarify this please? Is the LEB price valid for as long as I don’t cancel or will you change this anytime and switch me to another price without warning?

    2. Do you have any sort of DDoS protection?

    3. And finally, incoming traffic count towards the bandwidth limit?

Thank you in advance, and sorry for all the questions. Just want to know what I’m agreeing to.

    Cheers,
    Gustav

    October 4, 2015 @ 6:53 am | Reply
    • 1. The LEB price will be valid for as long as you don’t cancel. If for some reason we would change the plan(we have no plans to do this) we would give you plenty of notice.
      2. DDoS protection is not available in Lenoir yet(it is planned). We do have a Dallas location which has 20Gbps though. Submit a ticket if you’d like this location.
      3. Yes incoming traffic is counted.

Warning! If you want to waste your money and your time go for this hosting.
Random problem occurring continually and the support team is very noob which can’t even understand what the problem is. Ex.
They are using blacklisted IP Addresses (also can’t check for this!!!).
When the support team can’t configure some IP addresses to be connected to internet then change your VPS IP address to solve the connectivity issue (with blacklisted IP Addresses!!!). Also offering reinstalling the OS!!!
You set a Memory for a node ex. 3GB after waking up tomorrow the memory is 1GB…
2 VPSs of mine are not connecting to the network for 6days till now because of their server configuration and they can’t even understand what they are doing themselves.
Amateur support team (at least 3 person touch my ticket in recent 6 days) and they couldn’t understand till now. I warn you again even senior admin of them not understand.
My ticket is open and the last reply from them is (about 30 hours before):
“I will have senior admin to assist you further regarding this.”
If you need i can share this tickets later (even i Mentioned i am going to share this ticket to public community and they are doing their best!) their best is worst hosting i have ever used.
In my opinion they are out of business soon.
