LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

HostPolar - $4.99 256MB OpenVZ VPS in New York

HostPolar sent me a request to have their VPS hosting plans listed on LowEndBox. They are also offering a special promo — use coupon code Level2 to get a free upgrade from Level1 to Level2. Order Level1 here, and you’ll get

  • 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
  • 15GB storage
  • 100GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers in New York City with WeLink. From their about us page they were founded in March 2011 (i.e. just a few days ago!) Doing a search on WHT reveals this discussion thread, where a customer did not get what he has ordered, but eventually got refunded. Customer support in this case sounds quite alright.

Digging a bit deeper, however reveals that it’s the same owner that sent me info on Blue Shore Host a year ago (selling $7 Xen VPS in San Jose). Blue Shore Host, which was run by Jane and Laura according to this post, has since been sold to QuickPacket. User “JDAnswer” has also posted offers from other web hosts possibly started by her.

Cute bear though :P

Update: Use promo code LowEndBox to get 25% off recurring discount.

Blue Shore Host was a family owned business. It was between 3 partners, 1 opted out so the business was sold also due to time.

      Hi Tan,

Correct, we have been working with smaller clients and local businesses, March 2011 is our advertisement to the public, as you can see the domain has been registered since February. Our VPS has been up 26 days without any downtime. We are a new company but, quality service, support and being affordable is what we are all about. I hope this clears things up.

I would be careful with Host Polar.

Check out this link which shows that Justin is only 15 years old (probably 16-17 by now) and has a history of running “fly by night” hosting companies.

I am a firm believer of always giving someone a second chance, but I have a good feeling that this Justin guy has been affiliated with more than 2-3 companies. I wouldn’t be surprised if Host Polar got sold soon. The kid is here to make a quick buck.

For whatever it’s worth, it looks like they outsource their support as well. There’s nothing wrong with outsourcing but I feel you guys should be aware of this.

As you might know, Justin from HostPolar goes by the name “J.D.” or “JDAnswer.”

While I do not have proof, I haven’t seen anyone else in the industry go by J.D. so I am confident that this testimonial is from Justin Drago @ HostPolar.

    “J.D.”
“I have to tell you I was very nervous about someone else handling my support tickets but thought I would give you a shot on a couple of my servers in the beginning. Man am I glad I did. I have now transferred all my servers over to you for end-user support. Tickets aren’t handled exactly the way I would handle them but that’s expected and I am very pleased with the way everything has been handled. It has freed up a lot of my time to generate more business. Thanks a million! J.D. Anonymous (hey I’m outsourced;-)”

    • Hello PenguinTux,

I’m not sure why your attacking our company. Yes, I am Justin Drago, the 17 year old. I have never ever ran a fly by host. I owned Blue Shore Host which has great reviews on WHT and all over the internet, it was sold in March 2010 to QuickPacket LLC. OneManHost was opened by my brother but never stayed open, it never had clients. He sold the design and domain to another company. Recently, I opened Host Polar which is going to stay, mainly focusing on Shared, Reseller and VPS services. Blue Shore Host was sold as I had 2 partners along with myself, family ran, 1 partner wanted to get out so we ended up selling the company. Please look on http://wwww.webhostingtalk.com or google Host Polar’s reviews, we have tons of great reviews. Also, our support isn’t outsourced, I have myself and 2 others working on support tickets. If you have any questions feel free to email me at justin [@] hostpolar.com Also, Host Polar has a silent partner who does the legal issues with Host Polar, we are going to be registering the company as an LLC shortly under New York State. Once again, before attacking our company, simply read the reviews, they speak for us. We are not looking to rip anyone off, the happier our clients are ultimately the happier we are!

      Hi James,

Please be aware that we did not design the site but only purchased it from ProAxxs. We are currently re-designing our site through Payton Designs and it should be up in the next week or so. Read the thread fully and you’ll see we aren’t held responsible as we didn’t design the site and only purchased it. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask and if you’d like to see a preview of our new design, feel free to email us.
