HostPolar Justin from Host Polar emailed me their May discount for LowEndBox readers. Use the promo code LOWENDMAY to get 35% off recurring discount on any VPS plans. It still comes up more expensive than their previous “free upgrade” offer. The same package is now $5.84/month after the discount. Order it here.

  1. I have been with host polar for almost 3 months now at the NY location. While doing business with a minor can definitely be risky, so far I have not had any problems. Justin is easily reachable via MSN if I ever have a question or need help. uptime – 13:54:15 up 15 days, 14:50, 1 user, load average: 0.25, 0.17, 0.09
I run a small game server called babo on it and ping is a big factor, it has very good ping and overall I am happy with the server. feel free to ping ny.jmainguy.com for a latency test.

So, by using the code LOWENDMAY and requesting for a free upgrade we can get Level 3 for $5.84/month? A friend of mine in NY might be interested, I’ll make sure he checks it out.

  4. Volume VPS User:

This vendor provided good service, however we are not using them at the moment.

Provisioning was not automatic, and required tickets to be opened to complete.

Communications are excellent, if not immediate. Justin also returns phone calls, and aims to please his customers. Above average.

We stopped using the service due to routing issues we noted with the ISP. This problem would probably not affect the average user. We could not pinpoint the problem, but suspect the esoteric problem is NOT with Host Polar, but rather with the ISP or upstream. We will monitor the situation, and will do business with this vendor in the future if possible.

There were no billing issues, and no service interruptions. Customized solutions to our billing needs were promptly implemented.

We recommend this vendor based on two months experience.

Were trying to get listed on LowEndBox 2 weeks ago by offering 40% off — I guess to boost the numbers.

  6. Well ive been thinking of hosting a private server for some games, such as World of Warcraft, Flyff, Ryl, or anything really. Well what does it actually take to learn how to Create the server, hosting it, fixing it when needed?
