Green hosting is a growing trend in hosting. HydroVPS is a host whose company name isn’t just “a clever domain that was available” but rather a name that underscores their commitment to eco-friendly hosting.

As they point out on their web site, in their datacenter:

• 98% free from air conditioning
• Water cooled systems eliminate 70% of heat
• Air-cooling evacuates the remaining 30%
• Energy costs half what peer DCs consume

Now granted, they’re hosting out of OVH Canada so any host in that DC could make those claims, but the fact that they’re thinking green and have incorporated it into the name of their firm gives you sense of where their priorities are and how they approach hosting.  After all, there are a ton of DCs to locate servers in, and they seem to have specifically chosen one of the greenest they could find.

So if you feel that minimizing your energy footprint is important and like to help out ol’ Mother Earth, give HydroVPS a look over.  And getting unmetered 500mbps for $5/mo isn’t bad either!

They are registered in UK (registration number 11052512). Their Terms of Service is available on their web site (AUP, Privacy Policy). They accept PayPal / Stripe.
