LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

LetBox - $5.60/Month 2048MB OpenVZ VPS in Dallas, Texas

So Mohamed, from LetBox, recently got in touch with the below offer which is pretty much the same offer we listed in December – so I was in two minds over posting this. However, unlike their last offer, this has monthly billing and certainly seems unbeatable in terms of specifications vs price at the moment.

OpenVZ – 2048MB (Monthly)

  • 2048MB RAM
  • 50GB Diskspace
  • 4 CPU Cores
  • 4000GB Bandwidth
  • 100Mbps Port Speed
  • 1 IPv4 Address
  • OpenVZ/vPanel
  • $5.60/Monthly – Coupon: L5.60
  • $15/Quarter – Coupon: 15Q
  • Dallas Order Link

LetBox have been featured twice before on LowEndBox. When we featured them in December, some people seemed to love their service whilst others hated theirs – have a read of their comments on that post and make your own mind up. Their servers are using the Jaketown E5 Hex-Core processor, 32 GB or 64 GB ECC Memory, multiple Seagate Constellation drives in RAID10 with a Samsung 256GB 840 Pro Cache SSD. Once you have used all your bandwidth, your vps will be capped to unmetered 10Mbit.

They have their own homemade vps control panel called ‘vPanel’ which does most of the things SolusVM does, if not more. You can read more about it, and see some photos, here. LetBox accept both 2checkout (which accepts Paypal) and Payza. Refunds are not offer but Mohamed assures us that if your vps suffers with downtime, depending on the situation, you may be able to claim some service credit. IRC, VPN/private Proxies and Adult are allowed but Tor isn’t. For more information, you may want to view their Terms of Service.

Network Information:

They colocate their servers with coreXchange in Dallas, Texas.

    • A returning customer of you commented on the previous offer of EoR that you often suspended his VPS showing the reason of CPU Overuse where as he was running the same application on another provider’s vps which had no issues at all ! Which Processor you run on your nodes ?? It also seemed to me that his program shouldn’t have any issue like CPU overuse.

      • I don’t think any provider can accept overload on their nodes from 1 VPS, you can give us shot any try i will refund you if there is any issue.

I’m looking for a stable VPS for streaming video. But, a little bit confused. Which to take ? DotVPS/RamNode/ChicagoVPS/LetBox etc. Currently I’m with URPAD. They are nice but don’t allow downloadinh torrents. My bad luck !

Are you extending that offer to all your new LEB customers? I think it’s fair enough to manage VPS stability, but if we can’t run our applications and make use of the services we paid for, what’s the point? Can you provide some guidance as to what you see as excessive use?

Just had my service ‘randomly’ suspended
They are telling me (I think, very hard to understand) I am now only allowed to use 20% of the CPU usage I had purchased because otherwise I am ‘going over’ even though I am under 2GB which is my purchased amount, and that I am overloading their servers. And for using less than my purchased amount of CPU speeds, I am now suspended.
The customer support replied, they told me I was sent an email about my suspension, yet, there was no email in my spam, or inbox. I told them I didn’t get an email and the customer support literally CHALLENGED me with “Then how did you know it was suspended?”
HMMM I don’t know, maybe that my server randomly quit on me, and it says SUSPENDED on my services page?
But yeah, now support is not replying, and I have no idea how long I am suspended for, because there is no email I got, I have checked multiple times to make sure, and made sure it was the correct email.
This is the first time ive had issues but I think its a sign of a now failing buisness.

My mistake for saying even though I am under 2GB, thats my ram, it turns out CPU isn’t even listed anywhere on the order forum, or on my services page. SO I am suppose to stay under a limit which is unknown and the support isn’t willing to tell me. Whatever amount it is must be PATHETICALLY low, because they suspended me when I was running a Minecraft server with 5 players on it, and no plugins.

The service from letbox is completely BS… Every ticket I have opened was closed without solving any problem.
There are so many problems with their OpenVZ template (mostly network related)/ kernel modules. Letbox does not have IPv6 and you will not be able to set up a 6to4 tunnel.
For VPS from a company like this, never pay for more than 3 months. If you got a problem, open a dispute with your credit card company instead of waiting time contacting their support, which can’t even reply tickets within 48 hours.

    March 11, 2013 @ 9:11 pm | Reply
    • What is the ticket not resolved? what is the ID? also we don’t offer IPV6 have you ever see any offer inculde IPV6? did we promise you to provide IPV6? why complain now? we are very clear no IPV6 will come with this offer also what about kernel modules ? all modules loaded without any issue also using newer kernel 2.6.32.xx

I understand you have plans for IPv6 dual stack. It’s my fault that I chose your VPS.
6to4 tunnel does not work on letbox OpenVZ, it is my fault again because I am stupid……
Your way of handling support tickets is very unprofessional. Closing a support ticket without any communication is very rude IMO….And it happens every single time…. You don’t need a ticket number if all you do with tickets is to close it… If it is you that closed all those tickets, I have nothing more to say about the service.
You got my money this time, and not EVER again…

    • Minecraft performs much better on SSD VPS or a low end dedicated server, especially if you don’t know how to optimize it properly.

Most hosts don’t even allow them because of there CPU usage, i know we don’t.

      March 11, 2013 @ 11:49 pm | Reply
      • It works fine with the latest Java 7. I updated a friend from Java 6 to Java 7 and CPU usage dropped a lot. Tuning Java isn’t that hard either way.

        March 12, 2013 @ 12:36 am | Reply
        • That’s why i said “If you can optimize it properly”.

Unfortunately as im sure you must be aware as a VPS provider, not all customers have the skills or knowledge to do this, which is what gives minecraft a bad name amongst providers.

Opening a support ticket probably isn’t an option for him since the Letbox support website is unreachable and pings are showing 82% packet loss. Based on the fact that both of Letbox’s name servers are on the same node as their website (and their website, billing/support site, and nameserver ns0.letbox.com all share an ip address) his best option would probably be to find a host who knows what they’re doing.

        — my.letbox.com ping statistics —
28 packets transmitted, 5 received, 82% packet loss, time 27005ms
        rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 50.894/51.876/52.555/0.689 ms

Some notes on commenting on LowEndBox:

Do not use LowEndBox for support issues. Go to your hosting provider and issue a ticket there. Coming here saying “my VPS is down, what do I do?!” will only have your comments removed.

That is very smart. What does the hosting provider (datacenter/upstream) have to do with that? The ticket system is down as well if you read the comment before you post…..
Thanks for the info btw. I didn’t comments are censored here.

As a paying customer of Letbox (referred from LEB), I believe I did the right thing to inform people that their entire network went down. Also glad that my comments weren’t removed, and Letbox has fixed their network issues after a few hours of downtime. Thanks for listening, let’s hope this won’t happen again.

    Dear potential customers,

Where buy carefully. And even if I was not constantly activated and meets all the conditions and ask refund, you are taken for a fool. Refuse any kind of refund, even if you as a customer you’re right.
