Overclocked Host - $6.49 128MB Xen VPS in Fremont

Overclocked Host Brandon from Overclocked Host emailed in to notify me about their recently launched Xen VPS offering (which is also posted at WHT here). Their cheapest VPS plan, “VPS-128” is $6.49/month, and you can use promo code 10vpsopening to get 10% off discount for the first month (i.e. not recurring). Direct signup link.

  • 128MB memory/256MB swap
  • 3GB storage on RAID10
  • 400GB/month data transfer
  • Xen/SolusVM

Their servers are with HE.net in Fremont CA. According to their About Us page, the business started in July 2011, although they have only been selling VPS since a week ago. Even their shared hosting/reseller hosting uses the free Kloxo. There’s also no SSL on the HostBill pages, which makes me doubt whether “24×7 Support” and “Reliable Servers” written on their home page can be trusted. Finally, we are near the end of 2011 and $6.49/month for a 128MB Xen VPS with a tiny storage space is really nothing to write home about. Buyers beware, and there are better offers elsewhere.

Well, if your host node proves unreliable, at least you will know why. :P

Well Yes, really I wouldn’t want a VPS which would have it’s processor crashing due to overclocking :P

  2. I surely hope their nodes are not over-clocked, otherwise I wouldn’t be surprised if they went up in flames.

    • Overclock doesn’t mean overheating or unreliability.

    • I can assure we we do not overclock our nodes (For obvious reasons). Our name just refers to the speed of our servers.

    • I know it’s a small amount, but if you need more space take a look at the larger plans, our 512MB of Ram plan has 40GB of hard drive space. The 128MB plan was just intended to be used as DNS Servers, or small game servers (such as King Arthur’s Gold or Terraria Dedicated Server Mod) If you need more space, and only this amount of Ram, contact us and we’ll work out a plan for you.

Your 512MB ram plam is a joke. $15. And not even SSL on your ordering page. Are you Brandon from enetsouth?

        • I am not Brandon from eNetSouth, I am Brandon Hanson. In regards to SSL, we initially decided against it because all of our payments are handled through PayPal, however since this appears to be a deciding factor for several people I am reconsidering this. In regards to the plan, While the prices may be a bit higher, please keep in mind that all of our servers are RAID-10 based, they use DDR3, and our plans are high-bandwidth plans.

Maybe they provide excellent support for this price and have 2-3 engineers working in their shifts
