i do like that: “VPS plans are designed for seasoned Linux users who know what they are doing and can optimise these small boxes” I’d add that whoever caught with a /etc/debian_version < 6.0.4 or not keeping his vps updated and reasonably secure should be terminated on sight.

I have a 384 annual with them, great uptime, and hosted in a good dc. No problems so far.

  6. Thanks to the new LEB team for featuring us, by the way part of the promo is free upgrade to 100Mbit port on Budget VZ1 and VZ2. Just put on comment section the code: QWFEB2012 and our staff will apply free port upgrade within 24 hours, plus VZ1 will get double bandwidth.

Maybe I should keep quiet, but the last time I did a speed test on my QW Budget III, I got around 620 mbit/s. Even though you guys only advertise it as having 100mbit/s :)

      • maybe those were the times when SolusVM having “bug” with port speed throttling ;)

by the way i would like to clarify double bandwidth only applies to VZ1 so instead of usual 100GB you’ll get 200GB.

      Roel,

I purchased the “Budget VZ1” offer when it was posted here last night, before your above comment. I purchased it with the $5 100Mbit port upgrade.

I just read your comment and opened a ticket to ask for the double bandwidth and free 100Mbit port upgrade (so a $5 refund because I bought the port upgrade).

I seem to be having a communication failure with Joe. He has been nice enough to give me the double bandwidth, but believes that my purchase is not covered by the promo code. Could you please take a look at ticket #980012 when you get a chance?

      Thanks in advance.

Hi, is coupon code QWFEB2012 still applicable? And is that possible to get a XEN VPS, not OpenVZ? I’d also like to do a one-month test before signing a full year contract? I am planning using such VPS as a VPN server.

Thank you very much for your time.

I had a reasonably stable LEB with them but I should admit the quality of responses and communication had gone down of late so much so I did not renew after I completed the first year. I didn’t get a feel they cared much for a LEB renewal either.

    • Sorry to hear about that i have checked the ticket no provided and figured the cause was misagreement with upgrade you are requesting and the price you are demanding for a specs you want initially. These budget VZ are not designed for some upgrade as it will compete with our other standard plans if you can look at Supa VZ1 that’s is $9.95 and you want better specs that that for half the price which we cannot sustain however i saw Joe did offered price close to the amount you want to pay…. i noticed you also demanding to be moved to another node and retain IP which is not possible in Germany due to the way VLAN was setuped so i guess there are much that went there rather than simple renewal.

While i also notice some incorrect invoicing but that was adjusted, i wish i was involved i the ticket so it wa handled better. Anyway all the best for your hosting if you need anything else from me please email me directly rg(at)quickweb.co.nz :)

That is not accurate, Roel – the issue was not the price but bad communication.
I am cost conscious but would certainly not want something undercutting a provider’s margins. But I would have expected a proper response upfront on what is possible and at what cost so I could pick a suitable upgrade at a price that worked for you. In fact, I happily pay a higher price to the new provider.

I ask if it is possible to have an upgrade to a+b+c at x dollars. You tell me it is possible only at y dollars and I say okay. Then you say the price y you quoted was only for a and not for a+b+c. And this repeats. If you look at the ticket responses closely, you will see the responses were not to what I was asking for either – 1GB RAM/20GB ‘extra’ space etc. – I never asked for. Also, I did not ask to retain IP and was fine with a different VPS that was proposed and later retracted.

Then a wrong invoice that I had to request a correction on. Finally I ask for a cancellation to be effective at the end of the billing period, am assured it will be done and then again get defaulter notices.

I requested for you (Roel) specifically to look at it in the ticket and on LEB without response either. You will see in my earlier posts on LEB I had high regard for your company but this experience was not in the same vein. This led me to believe you are not interested in getting renewals from the “LEB” folk, but hopefully this was a one off.

        Thanks.

I’m not so sure about this company. I crashed 3 of their production servers by running “openvpn –dev tun0 –mktun” and they are refusing to have me as a client and will not give me a refund. I guess I don’t mind giving them the $7 because of the trouble I put them through, but their production servers shouldn’t be crashing by running a simple command.

In fact i’m niot using this as a helpdesk, i can easily blacklist that ip range on all MTA i manage at my $dayjob. Here i’m just reporting that Quickweb is using a google filtered maibox for their spam reports. Infact you didn’t receive my report. And, given your answer, you don’t seem to understand the problem. The fact that i also have a vps with you is completely irrelevant. The correct way to report spam problem is using abuse or other listed address (http://whois.arin.net/rest/poc/ABUSE3159-ARIN).

ignoring/filtering spam reports can cause your ip space being blacklisted. And this is something relevant to LEB

@Roel, suspending a paying user VPS for telling (end explaining why) you are wrongly dealing with spam reports is something simply unacceptable.

Now instead of saying you’re sorry you did such a stupid thing you’re asking me not to be arrogant?

Roel, i keep the idea that:
          1) using a google filter mailbox for spam reports is plain wrong
          2) suspending a customer for telling that is un-acceptable

I’m really disappointed with QuickWeb. Are you sure you did a smart thing?

          > i have forwarded the email to staff on duty to look into it
          > he might have picked up the wrong IP and suspended it,

i’m not calling you a liar, but someone called R Gerona and signing his mail as Roel, after reading my spam report asked “80.83.xxx.xxx is this your VPS with us?” and since it was evident he was not able to read email headers my answer was:

          > Yes, 80.83.xx.xxx is my vps with you,
          > …
          > This is the spammer you should deal with 199.195.xx.xx

so I doubt he just picked the wrong IP, he simply over-reacted to the fact that i wrote here and in the mail we exchanged that _”About my first 2 report disappear, I think you have a faulty config. It’s definitely not good antispam practice to list a google-managed account. You should never filter the abuse mailbox. Or you risk being listed for spam support”_

Roel, we all do mistakes. Just admit you did something immature terminating MY vps for showing that you’re wrongly managing spam reports. In a thread where you just hope to list good reviews and do lots of selling.

The mail has no filtering like you are claiming i just sent the entire email you sent me to admin@ and it was received properly we are receiving spam reports and they are being acted upon once received this is procedural and have process in place and nothing like because you hare ranting here in this blog, i will no longer monitor this blog from now on using my own personal time on and stick to the procedure or when i’m on duty to avoid and misconception i’m supposed to be working… anything regarding service or anything related to the company better contact the company… roel is not quickweb, when i’m off duty i’m just like everyone else here :(

No privacy problems, your or any QW employer are free to post details here, including the data in the mail we exchanged.

My opinion is that QW over-reacted without a reason. But you’re welcome to explain why my account got suspended.

By the way We hv not terminated your VPS like what ur telling at LET that’s just foul claim im not sure where that came from and hope i sheld some light, sometimes i just want to quit my job hard to please everyone, im honest person with feeling and can get offended too especially when my intention is just to help even on my own time, some people just can’t appreciate, if i made mistake im sorry im too eager to help and things can get nasty sometimes :)

Sadly I have to agree with the other reviews. I have been a customer for 9 months and tonight Roel just ruined any faith I have in this company.

Here is an exact quote, “Your causing too much trouble” in response to my ticket. That is crap customer service. Where i am from he would get punched in the face. Customer is always right, dont run a hosting company if you are too stupid to treat customers properly.

i run my own company and rely on their services, which is sad. They used to be good, heck I even recommended 4-5 other people who use them, which I know regret.

he had a fit because I was kindly reporting to him that my IP was geolocating wrong, which is something they need to fix. He then decided to insult my stupidity by telling me i could trace route the server. great too bad maxmind doesnt care about your stupid trace route, if you run a hosting company get the IP updated, I own over 2000 Ips and get them update without issue. I request one and you call me a trouble maker? A+.

This isn’t even worth it if they were $1 a month. Avoid them if you expect good customer service.

If he decides to refund me as he should, I’ll update this review otherwise nope.

Guess quickweb forgot, 1 bad review can cost you thousands of dollars in lost customers, basic business principle

P.S. I am screen recording and copying all communications, I expect they will terminate my services and try to destroy my data so I made backups and am logging in realtime, so we can see what happens. If they do I will file a paypal dispute on all my servers and post youtube videos.

Pure crap. Incredible. Over a stupid IP address.

Update, please remove last 2 comments. Roel is issuing a refund minus a 5 dollar fee. I still feel customer service is poor and a hosting company has no excuse for incorrect location data on their iPs but either way, he refunded.
