    • I humbly disagree.

Firstly, you should google the horrors of hosting in OVH.
Secondly, you are comparing apples with oranges.

      July 27, 2013 @ 2:07 am | Reply
      • I’m not sure i completely agree with you there. At least i can count on the resources with the kimsufi. We all know nobody on this website is selling 1:1 ratio on ram, disk, or bandwidth.

every provider have their own strategy with them
i think both of them was really give us a nice offer
why not get along with rather than compare it ?
i order from both of OVH and Ramnode
          i trust they’re the best

I hope you mean rotten grapes to pristine glorious apples.

OVH is the former, Ramnode the latter.

        July 27, 2013 @ 2:55 am | Reply
    • I cannot see SSD or SSD cached listed on the OVH offer. Disk IO with Nick here is going to many orders of magnitude better than what you will get on that Kimsufi.

Add the fact that the location is different, the CPU is more powerful (even if shared) and that the difference in customer service is like night and day then OVH is not better.

It seems customers outside of Europe have had their OVH orders cancelled on the new server and it now states EU only.

Ramnode has not appeared in the in the top three in the last two providers polls (looking to top a third) by accident.

      July 27, 2013 @ 6:40 am | Reply
      • Right and you also get a better network. If you check the AUP of OVH, there’s a lot of limiting factors in the network and speeds you might get.

of course Nick will not give me Kimsufi resource and price deal. But OVH/Kimsufi will also not give me Nick’s level of quality and support also.

Well said. Also if the guy thinks ovh is better deal then he can go ovh way :) Though we will see him soon looking for stable server.

Kimsufi’s aren’t truly dedicated and have horrible processors. They are also a nightmare to deal with if they think you have done something wrong.

How do you handle multiple IP address’s for the yearly VPS plans? Say, I wanted to have several IP address, and use a VPN to assign those IP address’s to my own servers at another location. (because my ISP does not allow more then 1 dynamic IP and filters ports) Are you able to route the data for those IP’s to the VPS as next-hop instead of assigning the IP address to the VM?

    July 30, 2013 @ 10:32 am | Reply
    • For something like that, you need a full virtualization plan (e.g., KVM or Xen) and have to set up special iptables routing and proxy ARP settings. This isn’t the responsibility of the hosting provider (in fact, they _don’t_ have control over such a thing, as the addresses are link-local).

I don’t have a guide handy on how to do this, but Google around for “linux proxy arp”.

      July 30, 2013 @ 3:51 pm | Reply
      • MeoS:

I don’t think you need to go through that complexity. Why not just OpenVPN a TAP interface and bridge it with eth0 on the KVM instance.

Have you guys looked into doing any of your own peering at the SIX in Seattle? My ISP has a peering point there in the Westin on the SIX, but I still have some 40 ms of latency to your Seattle test IP as we are routed to you via Cogent to Tinet to you instead of via NTT (at the Six) to nLayer to you.

Was super interested in their services but they offer only 2 payment processors. Paypal and Stripe. Paypal doesn’t work in my country and Stripe for some reason wasn’t accepting my card.

Anyway it isn’t their fault. I just wish they’d implement more processors like Skrill/ 2CO etc.
