    • Hi,

ubuntu 16 is available as an ISO

you can see all the ISOs we currently provide here:

I was curious about this, but the order form had “Manual ISO Install. Linux & BSD” as an option for the KVM plans (checked OpenVZ and did not have this option). Went ahead and ordered and you get the option to mount a 16.04 ISO.

Can’t speak to anything else yet, but going to check them out.

Is there a cost associated with mounting ubuntu 16.0.4? How exactly do you do this?

        January 11, 2018 @ 11:33 am | Reply
        • Hi,

no there is no cost, you will have the ability to mount ubuntu 16 iso from your client area, and then install it using your vnc console. Or if you have trouble doing it you can open a ticket on our helpdesk and a tech will install it for you.

  8. Hi, Happy New Year! I’m very interested in a plan, but i’m not looking for 2GB of ram, but instead 1GB. Is there an alternative to the $2.99 monthly but cheaper? Something like:

    KVM Plan X
    1 CPU Cores
    1 GB RAM
    10GB SSD
Unmetered Bandwidth (could be limited if you make it cheaper)
    Linux & BSD Operating systems

You can use SSH client on android. There are many on play store. Termius is great. You can run commands easily. Desktop is always the best way though.

you cant use rdp since this is not a windows server, its a linux server and it requires an SSD client to connect to, such as PUTTY for windows.

I registered for a 2GB KVM plan in January i think. I was using this server to host ReactJS applications and a NodeJS backend (for testing purposes, show demos to clients and to host personal projects). But suddenly, my server is down. So i decided to take a look in the admin panel. When i tried to login, i got this:

“Login Details Incorrect. Please try again.”

So i tried to reset my password by clicking in “FORGOT PASSWORD?” located in the lower right part. When i entered my email and clicked on Submit, i got this:

“No client account was found with the email address you entered ”

What is going on here? Why i cannot access my account? I have important data in my application server as well as applications running for personal use. I’m paying for that service and suddenly my user account doesn’t exist anymore. You can contact me directly via email to show you all the paypal receipts i’ve paid to demonstrate such account exists. Actually, this is the email i received when i registered with you.

Please solve this ASAP, i want my data and applications back.

What happened with my account and my server? I wasn’t doing something like cryptocurrency or things like those, was hosting simple web applications built in ReactJS!!

I’M NEVER GOING TO DO BUSINESS WITH SERVERCHEAP.NET AGAIN. I had a plan with them, 2GB VPS, paying $2.99. This month, i paid the bill. When i checked my bank account statement, i was charged twice by them (you can check the image in the link):

    https://ibb.co/hrbRpn

So i decided to create a claim in Paypal, and it was approved, to revert one of the charges. Suddenly, i cannot access to my applications hosted in the VPS. I thought it was a maintenance window so i tried to access the management portal in servercheap.net. For my surprise, my account didn’t exist.

Then, i contacted servercheap.net through his contact form, and half an hour later i got this email:

    Hello,

Your server has been deleted and your account closed. We do not do business with customer who open paypal payment disputes.

What kind of company is this? For filing a claim in Paypal they automatically deleted my server and my account, without considering the data i have there or applications. Why didn’t they try to contact me first to solve the issue? If there was a misunderstanding i would happily reverted the claim or pay back if needed. This is the worst service i’ve received ever by a VPS company. I will never do business with them again. That’s an unprofessional way to proceed. Delete customer information without letting customer know about it.

    • your-fault-entirely:

You should have contacted them first, not them contacting you!!

If you saw a double charge, go through the provider to resolve the issue before opening a PayPal dispute. Much like doing a credit card chargeback, disputes hurt a seller’s reputation with Paypal and should be a last resort. Most reputable companies are more than happy to resolve a double charge if you provide proof to them that it happened, or if it was actually a PayPal issue then they can work themselves with Paypal and resolve at a merchant level.

By you bypassing them entirely and just making a claim against in them in Paypal, they have every right to refuse business with someone like you. I wouldn’t want someone like you as a customer either.

I work for a company that does massive amounts of online sales. We deal with crap all the time where people’s first resort is to file chargebacks or paypal disputes, rather than spending 5 minutes on the phone with us so we can just resolve it then and there. It makes for mountains of paperwork for us to avoid losing reputation with the processing merchants, and almost 100% ends up with us firing the customer (which we reserve the right to do in our terms). Paypal and credit card disputes should be a last resort, but that’s probably only clear once you’ve worked in the industry and realize why.

@Oscar Calderon you are one strange bird. I have 6 servers with them and not a single issue.
First, it would have taken you less than a minute to write them and ask why you were billed twice. Instead, you spent a lot more time filling a paypal dispute for $2.99 (which would cost the hosting company a lot more than that (I believe $10 to $20). And all this because you weren’t smart enough to check with them first and know why you were billed twice.

Tech guy asks to share root password for troubleshooting ipv6. First he said ipv6 is reachable and then suddenly he said you must have misconfigured ipv6 or may be your firewall is blocking or you might have defined given ip6 on different kvm. So lame of tech guy.

Be careful when they advertise unlimited bandwidth, I used them to sync a folder between my dedi and after an arbitrary amount of bandwidth they rate limit the port to 4mpbs.

@pcjamesy so, it turned out you were doing something really sneaky there.
What was your aim? degrade other’s user experience? I’m pretty sure Virmach wouldn’t be happy if you do the same.

I’ve got 6 servers with them and I check here few times a week in case they restock the KVM offer so I can get more. All my servers are still as fast today as they were when I first got them 5 months. I think it’s because of the provider’s effective sanitation work :)

$2.99 for 2 core, 2GB, SSD and DDoS protection? This is arguably the best VPS deal ever!

    • If by “syncing folders” you mean this, found in your crondtab:

      */15 * * * * wget -O /dev/null http://*******.net/FAST/test.iso >/dev/null 2>&1

then yes, we did rate limit you.

      We consider this malicious.

ServerCheap will promptly terminate your account, if they find out that you requested refund from any past companies, even if such past companies issued refund as per 30-day refund policy.

These guys want a naive person as a customer, one who signs up with Paypal and does not login or does not care about connectivity

ServerCheap will promptly terminate your account if you have been reported to fraudrecord by 3 other providers, last of witch is of 2 days ago.

I don’t do anything malicious like the dude with crontab wget-ing stuffs every 15 mins, but wanted to see when they rate limit me. Don’t tell me somewhere between 5-10 TB, I trusted you.

Their lowest plan seems to be able to do VPN just fine, depending on your VPN solution. My sirq + sys is between 10-30% load, pulling ~200mpbs ok – but that seems when system is underload.

Do NOT use ServerCheap. Their network is extremely congested as they seem to be overselling. This is not the worst part though, the worst part is that they offer no money-back guarantee. I contacted their support less than an hour after placing the order to have the instance canceled and be issued a full refund, they ended up canceling the instance and rejecting my refund request!

I am escalating this issue with PayPal and if I don’t get my money back I’ll consider it a small fee for a lesson learned. From now, any hosting service with no money-back guarantee is a sketchy one and should be avoided regardless of what good promotions they have. It is a trap!
