Any chance can get the 256mb KVM plan with 10gb storage? If so how much a year

    July 13, 2013 @ 11:00 pm | Reply
    • I am afraid due to how tightly disk is linked to storage on this setup we have no flexibility. If you need more disk space you will need to order the 512mb plan.

Why don’t you just say Colocrossing?

The IP is clearly in Dallas, have you tried pinging it? Why people starts trusting geolocation data more than actual ping? Its most important.

Speeds to Asia are OK for a Dallas location. If you need fantastic speeds then maybe a VPS on the west coast would be better for you

I will use the service for a very lightweight workload (just to develop some webapps and have a remote testing server always on). I subscribed yesterday and it appears to be a very good server.

    • The price is not a discounted rate. As we own this hardware we hope to offer this price on an ongoing basis. Unless we have a massive change to our colocation costs we do not envisage this price changing at renewal. We’ve never increased prices for existing customers in two years.

        July 18, 2013 @ 5:45 pm | Reply
        • Today we suffered network disruption that caused intermittent connectivity for clients. This was an issue with our upstream provider. They had a problem with their primary network carrier in Dallas. The primary network’s BGP session did not go dark and instead showed packet loss. Due to this our network providers system did not switch to other transit options. We will be working with them to ensure this issue does not arise again.

What about a TOR hidden service running in a TOR client? In other words, no TOR relays, no TOR exit nodes. It is really just a normal webservice with clients coming in through the TOR network.

Been hopping between VPS providers and decided to try out ShardHost. Bought a 1024mb KVM $30/year yesterday and I have to say that I am impressed! Everything from buying to setting up has been smooth and performance is definitely on par with what I expect from a good VPS service provider! I’m definitely looking forward to being a customer for the long term.

1.) It is possible to upgrade the bandwidth ?
2.) It is possible to test the VPS 1x Month and then upgrade it ( double / triple the resources )

    • Hello Ngn,

It’s always disheartening to lose a customer over no IPv6. I can see you’ve posted on a number of hosts comments with a variation of the same one liner, so obviously IPv6 is important to you. If you’d like to open a ticket with our support desk we can ensure you are informed the moment we have IPv6 available.

Account password transmitted via email in plaintext?! :( Very disappointed. This is 2013.

    August 2, 2013 @ 6:57 pm | Reply
    • Hello Brokenshard,

It’s always hard to balance usability and security. Your initial account password is transmitted in plaintext; however is not stored in plaintext. It is possible to change this password within the client area without it being further sent in plaintext.

      August 3, 2013 @ 8:30 am | Reply
      • brokenshard:

I think it’s rather important for you to notify your users as they are signing up for an account that the initial account password will be transmitted in plaintext first so that they can treat the password chosen as a TEMPORARY password.

In any case, transmission of passwords in plaintext over email in this day and age is really unforgivable. SolusVM really need to change this default ‘policy’.

    Hi,

I have recently bought a KVM VPS and I am facing a problem.
I have sent many tickets to theyr support team but no answer!
Theyr support is the worst I have ever seen!!
They read my tickets and they close them after reading without giving a sigle answer!
    Is this right?
Anyway. I am so dissapointed with shardhost.com
I will not recomend to anyone buy something from them because of the unexisted support.

(sorry for my English but it’s not my native language :) )
    Regards.
